Bellarmine plays at Louisville's former home, Freedom Hall.
2,670 seat capacity at Bryant according to their website. Similar to The Roof before they made that all chairs and cut the capacity. Kind of scary seeing all those people packed into those bleachers. Bryant sure fed off of the crowd energy, went up 36-6 at one point.
When crowd control was a concern (it sure isn't now), HC seemed to take it more seriously the last time there was a PL final there (Bucknell, 2007). Much more orderly seating and keeping standees to a minimum compared to previous final games.
Lost in all that excitement was that HC played at least one non-leaguer against a NCAA qualifier. Fairfield, Siena and Quinnipiac are also still alive.

Watched a lot of the Bryant game, turned it off before the incident. They totally dominated Wagner, worse than the beating they gave HC. I was a bit depressed after the game in Daytona, but Bryant is a lot better than I anticipated. They may be a tough out. Kiss is a stud, but a bit of an @sshole. His antics certainly didn’t calm the crowd down. They have a couple shot blockers as well. Our old friend Engelstad almost knocked them off in the semis.

In other action, Bellarmine University, a small Catholic college here in Louisville, won the ASUN conference championship in its second year in Division-1. I don't think the school is allowed to be in NCAA Tournament for another few years. Great program-former D-2 national champions (2011?)- I wish Scotty Davenport was HC coach For multiple reasons, I don’t see BN buying shots for Crossports Nation anytime soon.

Wagner-Bryant NEC Final had a fan brawl. Both teams left court. Was watching. Kind of surprised this doesn't happen more often in these small gyms. Small pocket of Wagner fans (guessing mostly parents) totally surrounded by Bryant students. I'm also guessing the students were not being gracious winners as the rout neared the end. Thought Coach Mason of Wagner would not bring his team back to finish the game, but he did. It was bizarre - both teams just totally going through the motions for 4 minutes, just to get it over as quickly as possible. Bryant’s best player, Kiss, incited the Wagner fans the entire game with his constant histrionics, once doing push-ups to celebrate a layup after he scored as the action continued past him. What a jerk !

I've watched Kiss play a few times; he seems to be a bit, ah, high strung, to say the least.

No fights but a nice win for Gonzaga over St Mary’s (both are heading to the dance and maybe even a couple more teams from the WCC):

Our friends at South Dakota State are going dancing. They beat North Dakota State in front of a packed house in Sioux Falls last night. SDSU and Murray State only two DI teams to finish 21-22 season undefeated in conference play.

Setting aside the assault, I didn't realize that Boeheim's sons were such accomplished players in their own right.

FWIW, I'm rooting for Navy tonight. It's nice to see service academies in the tournament.

The Jackrabbits have dominated the Summit League for the last decade, under three different coaches - this will be their sixth trip to the Tournament during that time.

FWIW, I'm rooting for Navy tonight. It's nice to see service academies in the tournament. 1998 last time, I believe. Army, never; Air Force not since 2006 (surprised they've been 4 times). Last time Navy got to the PL Final was 2001; we knocked them off in OT. Ryan Serravalle with a 3 pointer that seemed like it took a year to go in the hoop.

Army has never even made it to a Patriot League championship game. 32 seasons, never been past the semis. In 2009 they had American on the ropes in DC in the semis but blew a small lead in final minute. Had they won, they would've come to the Hart for the final. Instead we went down to American and got blown out.

Based on recent results, I guess it works most of the time.

In Billy Lange’s seven years as head coach at Navy, they never won a PL tournament game. Not even one. And yet St. Joe’s opted to hire Lange as their head coach, instead of Matt Langel.

Final: Colgate 74 Navy 58 Surely there's an A-10/CAA school that has a need for a new coach that would pay Coach Langel a whole lot of money to leave the PL. I'm good for $20. :-)

We aren't their rivals any more and haven't been for 40+ years so what they are doing doesn't matter to me. Same can be said for UMass, UConn, PC and URI although the Rams and HC didn't play as much as the others.

It actually looks like this team found a decent coach. Their tournament run notwithstanding, I think they probably exceeded most expectations this year.
