Doesn't "interest" mean we are determining their interest in us as well? Will they provide the needed academic info to satisfy Admissions as well as PL

Doesn't "interest" mean we are determining their interest in us as well? Will they provide the needed academic info to satisfy Admissions as well as PL According to a member of the coaching staff, the admissions office will evaluate a prospective transfer’s high school and college academic profile before he is accepted. He will have to have had an academic profile in high school sufficient to warrant admission as an entering freshman and sufficient grades and course work in college to allow acceptability as a transfer. Essentially, this precludes acceptance of a transfer whose academics may have been marginal as an entering freshman but has demonstrated an acceptable level of academic performance in college, thus shrinking our already very limited pool of transfer candidates even more.

Unless someone of Coach Chesney's magnetism appears in person at the admissions dept. to advocate for the potential transfer? The policy of basing transfer admissions on the past and not the present doesn't seem infallible.

This should surprise no one. I am holding out hope we find a high school senior, prep or hs, who has been overlooked but turns out to be a contributor.

This kid has a relatively rare combination of a great first name and a great last name. Not easily forgotten or confused.

There is good karma with the name. We had great success with our previous Malachi, and with the name Poindexter we know he has the academics to succeed in the classroom as well.

It's tougher to get into UVa than it is to get into Holy Cross. The 25-75 percentiles for UVa for the class entering fall of 2020 were 1330-1490 composite score..

Matt Curtis is a strong CT high school senior guard who gave a verbal to Fairfield but I don’t think ever signed. He would be a strong get for us. He can put the ball in the basket which helps.

Do we express interest if they don't have SATs for AI computation? I believe that they are required the military academy admissions.

According to a recent article I found on the FF board, he still intends to become a Stag but he may do a year of prep school at St. Thomas More Academy.

This is a totally ridiculous application of the AI. Your HS grades and SATs should mean squat if you've already demonstrated excellence in the college classroom.

Non athletes at Holy Cross are not required to submit Yes, I believe every prospective collegiate student athlete who goes through the NCAA Clearinghouse is required to take the SATs. There's an SAT floor to be eligible to play an NCAA sport at any school -- I believe there may be some kind of sliding scale that combines your SAT and GPA, similar to the Patriot League AI but with much, much lower grades and scores being allowable. SAT scores are a part of the PL AI, even when determining the eligibility of junior transfers who are halfway through undergraduate coursework.

That idea makes the old railroad union featherbedding practice seem efficient. I don't understand the value of a prep year to then play at Fairfield. A player could possibly develop more in the Fairfield system by riding the bench a year but practicing daily at Fairfield as opposed to playing a prep year. If Fairfield is his only scholarship offer and the coach is pushing this to maximize his roster with players like Caleb Green possibly having another year of eligibility it makes more sense. But HC has openings available.

SAT scores are a part of the PL AI, even when determining the eligibility of junior transfers who are halfway through undergraduate coursework. Apparently SAT scores haven't been required since 2021 www.ncsasports.org/coronavirus-sports/ncaa-eligibility-center-covid-19#:~:text=The%20NCAA%20is%20no%20longer%20requiring%20the%20SAT,core%20course%20GPA%20and%20the%20core%20course%20requirements. The NCAA Eligibility Center extended its COVID-19 initial eligibility policies for student-athletes who initially enroll full-time during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years. The NCAA is no longer requiring the SAT or the ACT for students who intend to compete at the Division 1 or Division 2 level. Eligibility will only be calculated based on NCAA core course GPA and the core course requirements. However, most student-athletes should still strongly consider taking the SAT or ACT as many—but not all—colleges will still require it for admissions into the college.

There's some NCAA rule that says SAT's are required for athletes (or at least scholarship athletes). Non athletes at Holy Cross are not required to submit 1. Yes, I believe every prospective collegiate student athlete who goes through the NCAA Clearinghouse is required to take the SATs. There's an SAT floor to be eligible to play an NCAA sport at any school -- I believe there may be some kind of sliding scale that combines your SAT and GPA, similar to the Patriot League AI but with much, much lower grades and scores being allowable. 2. SAT scores are a part of the PL AI, even when determining the eligibility of junior transfers who are halfway through undergraduate coursework. 1. Yes, there is a grid that shows SAT and GPA. The higher the GPA, the lower the acceptable SAT. Etc. 2. According to several PL coaches, that is not correct. I have been told by several people that the PL still applies the original AI calculation (which includes SAT) to freshmen who are transferring. But once a student-athlete reaches second semester of sophomore year, only his college performance counts. SAT is no longer relevant for the AI.
