What an absolute slap in the face this would be if Langel took him from Nelson.

I wonder if Kit ever attended a masquerade party as Sgt. Shultz, "I see nothing."
Seriously, I think it's possible we can upgrade in the portal due to the imbalance of supply and demand with five classes off players chasing four years worth of scholarships.
I also think the overall athletic department can be strengthened with strategic spending of money not flushed by paying two BB head coach salaries.
But the image of a kid having his lunch money taken is unavoidable. Looking forward to see what we look like when all our slots are filled.

If he signs with them or another PL team, it is Obviously a sign that .RJ is not looking for a conference upgrade ”There oughta be a law.”

Our new players will want to be here. Even if they had the scare of their life by almost losing out on a D-1 scholarship slot before they finally signed with HC, they will value their roster spot and be motivated to prove they weren't foolish to enter the portal.
RJJ has no guarantees yet.

How about Pridgen at his second school ? There are no guarantees how long players, recruited freshmen or transfers, will want to stay at that second place and school or value the roster spot, even at our beloved HC.

We got the wrong RJ. UNC's RJ Davis would have been a far better get. And, he's on the ACC All Academic team, too. Doubt if he'll be leaving Coach Davis. His players have bonded with him. Obviously, UNC's RJ is far beyond HC's reach. Are there some coaches who engender loyalty to the program with fewer transferees? Or, is everybody floundering in much the same way.

I'd like to see a recap of the number of teams foreach number of players in the transfer portal. e.g. 12 Players= 2 teams 11 Players= 3 teams 10 Players= 6 teams 9 Players= 7 teams ---- -- 2 Players= 40 teams 1 Player= 46 teams 0 Players= 119 teams

Would you grant that on average an incoming transfer wants to be at a college more than an outgoing transfer from that college? Also, three school players shouldn't become that common if the rule requiring a year's sit out is taken seriously by the NCAA. They will have to be pretty darn good for a coach to waste one year of scholarship for an already two time loser. Joe P. qualifies as pretty darn good for mid majors as a ten team conference ROY, Lowder doesn't and is dealing with that reality in the open marketplace.

It would take some to put it in the list form you reference.

He apparently wants a school that can give him good academics and good hoops. He obviously doesn’t believe he’ll get good hoops at HC. Hard to blame him.

Is he trying to angle for a place where he can start, or first school not named Holy Cross that accepts him. Not exactly a Murderer's Row of basketball powers that have expressed interest.

I suspect most kids transferring are looking for some combo of a better basketball opportunity (including level of play, playing time and coach), closer to home and/or better academics in that order.

If he transfers to Colgate, this is a bad precedent for the PL, especially if there is evidence of tampering

If RJ ends up at Colgate, it is another important nail in Nelson's coffin.

I was disappointed with Nelson and Blossom when we had the prior mass exodus and terms like "running off" of Carmody's "non-D-1 players" were mentioned.
With this crop I feel differently. There is little question the portal entries are self motivated by the players. I think they should have the freedom to choose. But they all were looking at plenty of playing time opportunity with only one new freshman signed before they announced their departures and the ones who worked the hardest over the summer to improve their game would have been impact players next season.
The coaches, at this point aren't throwing in the towel. The country has record low unemployment and the Assistant Coaches all have masters degrees, I believe. It's not like they are stuck in their current jobs. Other than the head coach, they all could probably do as well or better if they wanted to leave. So, I don't feel resentment toward the departing players, but I do feel supportive of the coaching staff, appreciate their loyalty and hope they can pull four rabbits out of their hats to replace our former Crusaders and turn this ship around.
The landing spots of the four former Crusaders will shed light on how the industry feels about the talent our coaches had to work with.

Who's to say what the kid's skill set is at now after, for all intents and purposes, missing the entire season? Hate to be a bit crass about it, but there's no guarantees for whoever signs him.
Winthrop is in a suburb of Charlotte, that's probably why he's interested in that school. Chattanooga and Longwood are a couple hundred miles away.

How many mass exoduses/exodii is a coach allowed especially at a college like HC which among other things prides itself on a high retention rate of students.

Well, if the first was imposed on him in an attempt to upgrade the program, I would say one.

How many mass exoduses/exodii is a coach allowed especially at a college like HC which among other things prides itself on a high retention rate of students. Kind of depends on definition of "mass" exodus. I don't think I'd call last year's transfers "mass" . Obviously 2020. At greater than 1/3 of the planned returning roster, I would call this one "mass". So to answer your question: At least two ----- An official visit sounds like serious mutual interest between Johnson and Colgate. I expect kids to publicize every phone call they get even if they have zero interest in that school. It makes them look better. If he winds up there (and I really hope he doesn't - I hate the message it would send), it will be interesting to see if students care enough to give him a warm greeting when he returns

The HC student body doesn't even follow our flagship sport anymore. Doesn't help that the school forced them to get vaccinated, boosted, tested regularly for COVID 19, and still told them they couldn't attend home games for a month after coming back from break.

Winthrop is in a suburb of Charlotte, that's probably why he's interested in that school. Chattanooga and Longwood are a couple hundred miles away. Longwood is about an hour and change outside of Richmond, in the boonies though in a town called Farmville, VA. Chattanooga is right on the Georgia and Alabama borders with TN. Probably within a two hour drive or so from Atlanta. But, yea you wouldn't transfer to either of those schools for "academics". I'd put money on Colgate against either of the others, although 2 of the 3 did also make the Dance this year. UTC blew a double digit lead to Illinois. They got in on a buzzer-beating NBA-range 3 pointer in the SoCon Championship, which was held in Asheville, NC (awesome town, I hope some of the teams and fans got the chance to stay at the Grove Park Inn). Longwood beat Winthrop in the Big South title game if I recall. Longwood has a coach who had a pretty cool story. Was a former DI player who ended up carving out a successful career in law, only to get back into coaching. And led Longwood to their first NCAA appearance this year. They moved up to DI maybe 20 years ago now, had a really hard time finding a conference for the longest time and suffered through some really awful seasons. They may have had a year with no DI wins IIRC.

You stole my thunder. The students don’t show up to support their fellow students never mind an ex-HC student. As an aside, when I picked my 2 pint glasses for season ticket holders, I was asked my name. I was tempted to ask the young lady who was looking for my name on the list of season ticket holders, “How many names are on that list” but my guess that is classified information.
