Plenty of Holy Cross sporting events have been available for TV viewing in my market (NY) in recent years. Why do I care if the games were on the ESPN family of networks or not?
And the PL contract with ESPN+ has been great IMO. Big upgrade from Stadium.
We've had numerous games on CBS Sports (FB and BB), the lax game on ACC Network and the hockey game v. ND on NBC Sports.

. Rhody is sold out of Season Tickets for football. No clue what that number is but big things are expected in Kingston. URI opens next Thurs night v SBU. Except for a huge question mark at QB, SBU should be solid and URI needs to win this one to maintain expectations of a very good season (and playoff berth).

Plus $4.75 fee. I say keep the games accessible with reasonable prices and be entrepreneurial with the quality of food, beverage and merchandise.
Make the vats of steaming hot food smell so good that folks with discretionary dollars can't resist and the sweatshirts so sharp looking kids will bug their parents to buy them.
Having BT Smokehouse set up at HC or asking HC Dining services to duplicate their delicious fare wouldn't be a bad idea.

When are the dates this season when HC will play URI or Delaware in football? I couldn't find any. If we do not play either of them this year, why on earth would any HC fans give a damn about either of them or want to read about them, especially on a thread about HC vs Merrimack??? If I am not attending a game between teams I do not follow, I could not care less how. much the tickets I will never buy might cost. Just being honest. PS: If I want to read about Merrimack vs HC, should I look on the URI or Delaware websites?

Mr. Foley, despite being in the Troll HOF 🙂 has industry knowledge and like I said, I like to learn. Also, we play URI in the near future and several posters have discussed the merit of HC potentially "graduating" from PL FB to CAA FB to play the FCS East Coast Iron like Delaware and Villanova so talking about ticket sales at a nearby future FCS opponent isn't totally off the wall. BTW, I'm a PL guy not a CAA guy, but happy to read other opinions.

I am retired as well (three times over). But why post things on a thread about Merrimack and their upcoming game with HC? If those other schools interest you, you can start a thread about that team (or teams).

Yes sir. My apologies. The attendance point about the Merrimack game is get your tickets early if you are interested in going because the stadium is only a 4,000 seat band box, and not a "lyric little bandbox" like John Updike described Fenway Park.

No apology needed. Thanks for the explanation. Your point is a good one. With limited seats, it could be helpful to have HC fans make up a good portion of that crowd.

I second the motion other than to say that while I might have some interest in URI, it should be on a totally separate thread. Having been born and raised on Long Island and went to high school not far from Stony Brook, I have nothing against SBU or "SUNY Stony Brook" as I knew it. As I've posted before, I have lived in RI for almost 23 years but I will always be a New Yorker not a Rhode Islander. That was true when I lived in Ohio as well. That said, I hope the Rams kick SBU's butt. I do have some geographic loyalty for where my state taxes defray state school expenses. Now back to our program . . . . Merrimack game - I've been helping round up 1970 Classmates to go to the game and root on the Crusaders to kick off the season the right way - a big win over Merrimack. GO CROSS GO!!!

Not to upset anyone who has recently discovered that these threads tend to go off topic now and again (😀) but I can’t resist pointing out that we may very well play URI this season. They’ve got realistic football playoff dreams this year (and we do too…and there is a geographic component to the FCS playoff matchups…)

Our co-interim ADs secured home field against Sacred Heart last fall, Kit did not in the WNIT game vs Columbia. (Not sure if there is bidding for WNIT games like the first round of the FCS tournament.) Kit should know that home field advantage could have contributed to HC FB's first post season victory evah last November.

Finally bought Merrimack tickets. In the absence of any clarity on a true HC section, I went with Section 3. As all sections except 4 and 5 are General Admission, my plan is to find the HC people and sit there.

Has HC sent out any marketing about the game to encourage a strong HC crowd? I don’t think I’ve seen any but I may not be on all the right lists.

I've rustled up 7 Classmates, 2 wives and another possible couple of wives. There may be more than that I'm not yet aware of. Virtually all of us will be sitting in section 3 which is the first non-chairback seats section on the HC side. I have a gentlemen's bet with one of my Classmates whether or not this will be a 4,000 seat sellout. Come on guys, help me win this bet! My "opponent" thinks because it is a holiday weekend that a lot of people won't go and that Merrimack has a lot of commuter students. He also thinks that many Merrimackers (I made that up ) will be gone for the holiday. My thinking is if there are a lot of "day students," that they aren't going home for the weekend and this has to be their biggest game of the season. When a Classmate asked about pre-game or post game plans by HC, the response was "Hi there! There aren't any official college plans around the Merrimac game"

If you have an Apple tv box attached to your smart tv you can play the game through your laptop onto your tv.

This is the one sport that fans are pumped about right now. Tie everything you can to the football team.

Any college student who “goes home for the weekend” in September has to be an unbelievable loser or drone. Why go away to college if you need to go home to Mommy every week?
