Our Crusaders go for a 4th consecutive Patriot League Champions in 2022 but we know that is not the limit to their ambitions. With a nice last-second playoff win versus Sacred Heart last year followed by a tough loss to Villanova, many think the HC football team is poised to make a deeper run in the playoffs this season. However, let's not get ahead of ourselves by focusing now on the regular season via our annual poll of our message board experts. How many regular season games do you project the HC Crusaders will win? In addition to making a selection in the attached poll, please indicate a specific number of wins in a post. That will set you up for receiving the accolades of all when you are proven correct. Some posters like to make a W-L call game-by-game--that's not compulsory but give it a shot if you like.
Here is who we are facing this season
09/02 At Merrimack-- Crusaders look for revenge after the puzzling loss 21-35 last season at Fitton Field.
09/10 At Buffalo--Holy Cross will pick up a nice check and hopefully a nice win as we visit this FBS team.
09/17 vs Yale--HC won 20-17 last year in a thrilling and highly satisfactory game as Derek Ng hit a field goal with 48 seconds to play.
09/24 At Colgate -- Holy Cross won 42-10 in 2021 rushing for 359 yards and 5 touchdowns
10/01 At Harvard-- Harvard punished HC 38-13 last season at Fitton Field. Revenge would be oh so sweet
10/08 Vs Bucknell--HC won 45-6 last year with the Crusaders gaining 301 yards on the ground to (1) for Bucknell
10/22 At Lafayette--HC won 35-10 with 517 total yards to 171 for the Leopards
10/29 Vs Fordham-- HC rolled up 52 points to Fordham's 24. Sluka went 11 for 18 for 272 yards versus 12 for 27 for 223 yards for DeMorat of Fordham
11/05 Vs Lehigh --HCwon 31-12 last year but the game was tight until the fourth quarter.
11/12 Vs Bryant-- Bryant continues to build its athletic profile
11/19 At Georgetown--HC won 48-14, boosted by outrushing the Hoyas 250 yards to 6

HC runs the table on all its FCS opponents (none of whom are ranked nearly as high as HC at this point) and loses only to FBS Buffalo.
Closest PL game is beating Fordham
Closest OOC game is beating Harvard.
10-1. A terrific regular season.
Ranked higher than Villanova at the end of the regular season.
On to the playoffs.

Nice that we’re in a position where I’ll be very disappointed without at least 9 regular season wins.

I'm going with 10-1. While there's no definite Loss as far as I can see, I'm a realist, and expect that there will be a toe-stubbing. But only one!
I'll also predict a 2-1 playoff record after a first-round Bye, and a final season national ranking at #7.
Another step toward the ultimate prize!!

I went for the 9-10 win category this year. I do feel this team could run the table, but as we know, "stuff happens." However, it would be a sign that HC has come a long way - if HC can taking both Yale and Harvard in the same season. I also like 2 wins post-season....with an outside chance at 3. With the Fall sports season starting today, I have a heart full of optimism. Heck, at this point, no HC team has lost a single game to date. Officially, I see HC at 10-1 in the regular season. [AND I AM VERY GLAD TO SAY I AIMED TOO LOW ]

11 please. Best team since the Duff era Provided Dobbs and Anderson stay healthy, the D will dominate every game. Likewise, if Sluka stays healthy, the offense will be good enough, most games very good, to win them all.

I picked 9-10 wins. I'll narrow it down to 10 wins with a loss against Harvard. I will be happy with any record that gets us into the playoffs and extends the season.

10-1 with the loss to Buffalo which I see as a close loss.

My hope regarding Buffalo is that in the second half when many FBS teams start wearing down smaller FCS teams and win going away, Buffalo won't be able to wear down HC.

My heart says 11-0, but my head says 10-1. Between Buffalo, Harvard and Yale, we could have at least one loss. I hope not, however! #GoCrossGo !

I am struggling with 8-9 wins. Nice breakoff KY Crusader 75 makes you have to decide. The trap game is Yale IMO coming off a travel week will be a challenge. Also to beat Buffalo, Harvard and Yale we need to be very efficient in the passing game and not knowing what that looks like yet I will go with 9 wins but the Yale game will be close. Either way its a 4PEAT for the PL which is incredible and we will be hot going into the playoffs and that's all that matters.

I am holding off until next weekend before I dive in - we talk about recruiting but very little insight as to what is going on in practice outside of Jen reporting on Sluka.
Anybody sitting for a few days with a nagging injury? Anybody stepping up and moving up on the depth chart? Who are the back-ups on the DL, QB, FS Is the freshman K challenging for a role? How about the speedster from NJ?
Have a great weekend

I don’t even want to talk about injuries but there are probably tiers of guys in terms of how big of a hit they would be. I’d say Dobbs, Sluka and Anderson are probably the three in the top tier - i.e. who would have the biggest adverse impact on our fortunes. The Sluka impact could be mitigated if Pesansky and/or one of the Frosh are ready to play like studs but a big impact no matter what.

It’s nice having talent two or three deep at many positions

Threads like these must be difficult for BBC to read. Happens when FB will likely have as many wins as MBB.

Let’s see how it all plays out
This fall holds hope for something special but with a target on your back, the potential of funny bounces or being flat can happen on any and every given weekend.
Hoops will be an underdog most every game so stealing a few, surprising others, and beating those with equal talent might create a few surprises
There it is For football be prepared for the worst outcome which would be 9-4 For hoops pray for the best. -13-21

I think we have a legitimate chance to win every game. I say we lose one --Buffalo or Harvard, I would say.

9-10 wins in regular season
pre-season most important win? Merrimack, then the next ,etc, etc but I see 3 more seasons 4-1... 2 @ home ... need to take care of Colgate on the road; I like our chances v Yale at home & Harvard on the road break 5-0...3 @ home ...take care of Lafyette on the road...some new things for Fordham
post season – not yet

8-3 and another PL title and trip to FCS playoffs. Merrimack W Buffalo L Yale L Colgate W Harvard L Bucknell W Lafayette W Fordham W Lehigh W Bryant W Georgetown W Reasonable, but a split with H-Y might have a higher probability than either being swept or sweeping. Not suggested as a mathematician but as a sports fan.
