Not close Mathewson is one of the all time greats in MLB True but a lot more people below a certain age have heard of Jay Wright than Christy Mathewson. As a result, Wright might be more famous in 2022 even if possibly less accomplished.

A few rows of seats recently opened up on the Polar Park website in the back of Section 3 (between the 30 and 40) for anyone still in need.

No problem. Those seats will be empty and I'll slide down there from section 1.

No problem. Those seats will be empty and I'll slide down there from section 1. Section 1 is the primo 50-yard line seating. FWIW, 25 of the 64 seats in Section 3 that became available this afternoon have now sold. Not a bad clip given that tickets have already been for sale for a long time.

92, I hope you are right but when I looked at the seating map, section 1 was on about the 10 yard line. We'll see soon enough.

Perhaps those seats were reserved for the band which maybe isn't coming due to school vacation week?

Naming their football stadium after a baseball pitcher is one hint of that. Hoping this is was written tongue and cheek... Mathewson was a star football, along with baseball obviously, player at Bucknell. And not only that he was a veteran of World War I who was severely injured during training with gas. He is by far Bucknell's most famous alum. Yes, not an attempt to minimize the contributions of Christy Mathewson, just a reflection on how he was one of the early superstars of MLB along with Ruth, Gherig, Cy Young, Walter Johnson, etc.

Have to give Chesney and Co. credit for pushing the Community outreach. Must have been an epic game of rock, paper, scissors to see which players drew this 7:30 am meet and greet assignment.

Love to hear if anyone went today to the coffee hour with the Crusaders! I love the engagement and outreach we have been doing.

Have to give Chesney and Co. credit for pushing the Community outreach. Must have been an epic game of rock, paper, scissors to see which players drew this 7:30 am meet and greet assignment. The free tickets are quite valuable for this game. Bob Fouracre was a frequent visitor to Diamond Chevrolet, which was a long time HC sponsor, following Bob to whatever radio station HC was on. My buddy who worked there told me that salesmen could always get free HC tickets from Bob if that would help them close a sale. Fast forward to HC games at Polar Park. Last year was a sellout, this year could well be and prices aren't cheap at Polar. HC Football is becoming a hot 🎟.

Most of our high school's games are on Saturday afternoon, which makes it tough to get out to college football games, whether as a fan or a recruit. We have a 10:30am game, which combined with the 4pm start at Polah mean a bunch of our guys are going to the game. Hope we put on a show.

Thoughts on Bucknell…
They stink and they dug themselves a hole with the stunt they pulled in the spring of 2021. An angry team should pull into Polar Park and take care of business early. I expect this thing to get chippy at some point. We need to bury them early and get the starters out.
Roll Saders!!!!

No need to overthink this one.
Bucknell hasn’t scored more than 14 all season.
HC has scored 30+ in every game.
‘Saders by 4+ scores and on to a much deserved bye week we go.

But why can't Bucknell? Only PL title was in 1996, no winning season since 2014, Gotulski, Landis, Susan, now Cecchini well under .500. Averaging 1,659 a game this season.

Central/Western PA is not football country? Of course it is. HC has won it's last four championships with coaches from Pennsylvania. We are lucky that Bucknell didn't put a bid in for Chesney when he was available.
The Bison need a turnaround specialist.

Less than 24 hours until kick and the Bucknell football and athletics Twitter accounts have made no mention they have a game this weekend.
Pretty funny.
When Cecchini is fired, why would any coach want to step into that situation? For whatever reason, they couldn’t give two poops about what could be a great sport for them.
137, what’s the story?

As I’ve stated many times here there are 5 institutions in the PL who are not supporting football enough to bring legit competition in the league - this will eventually effect us and not in a good way

The only way it negatively impacts us is if it hurts recruiting. If we keep having really strong OOC schedules and can keep recruiting as we have been, I think it’s good for us if the league stinks.

I know Ches doesn't want the team getting caught up in rankings but we the fans and alums can! I think the fact that we are where we are at 9/10 is a testament to our OOC schedule. I don't know if we will ascend to the highest mountain playing PL opponents unless or wins and heightened profile raises recruiting for other PL teams thereby increasing their ranks and SOS. We could legitimately win by 5 touchdowns and go down in rankings this week. Just saying!

As for tickets sold, a majority of the end zone seats remain open. I know they sold HC students the $15 SRO tickets. Seems like they should have made a couple of those sections student sections. The sellout last year on Family Weekend may have made us a little greedy.
