Gonzaga and Chaminade should both get football programs and join as well!

PL FB is the most boring two bid conference in FCS. No membership changes in ages, none expected. PL football is almost always a one bid league and it is fair to say we haven’t added/subtracted new PL football members lately. OK, let's see: 1. "almost always one bid" - that means it is n ot alwsays one bid and since it has gotten twp in the past it is certainly possible that it could again. 2. "we haven't added/subtracted members lately" which does niot mean it can't happen Did I. miss some point in there? What if Merrimack and SHU decided to take their football to the PL?

Sorry, but I would really hate the PL in football if we added Merrimack and SHU at the expense of 2 OOC games....
Apparently they are both going MAAC.....story I saw made no mention of football.

OK, sa we play Merrimack and/or SHU as league games instead of ooc games - and we have played both as ooc foes recently. How would HC be "depriving" you of anything?

Apparently they are both going MAAC.....story I saw made no mention of football. yup...SHU press released said that for non MAAC sports, "those sports could stay in the NEC as associate members or find new conferences." New MAAC football conference? I would rather have one home game vs an Ivy and an annual trip west of the Big River than have MC and SHU as PL members. That being said, if we expanded and added a couple CAA big boys or left the PL with the likes of Fordham, I wouldn't mind having MC and SHU. They are too similar to Laffy and Colgate. Very little to gain by beating them and everything to lose losing to them

That is certainly true - unless they continue to develop their teams. You seem to assume that will not happen.

The Pl has shown no interest in adding football schools. We like being able to schedule five OOC games. And if we ever did add schools, we would want schools that are academically similar to us and that would upgrade our football. MC and SHU do neither. There not in the same time zone as we are academically. In football MC is mediocre. I've seen SHU twice this year. They're not mediocre. They're awful. They're the worst team in a bad conference.

Which two would you have dropped this year to make wsy for two more conference games? (Actually we would only have had to drop one of them this season because Merrimack was already on the OOC schedule but two new conference members means most years we would only get three OOC games instead of five.)

Every time this conversation comes up, I struggle with identifying our academic peers. Not based on any sort of ranking, we are probably about a half a step below the Ivies (although equal or better than some--I had a friend go to Harvard and the most difficult thing for him was getting in), half a step above Nescac, 1-2 steps above our PL foes, 2 steps above MC, SHU, 2-3 above the Bryants and Stonehills of the world. Maybe ND and Georgetown are the closest academic peers. So based on that, I default to geography and our Catholic identity, which does bring teams like MC and SHU back into the equation. Time to focus on ramming the ball down Fordham's throats.
