Buffalo area connection?
Interested to see what Chris' role will be. Generic "offensive assistant" or "offensive quality control"?

Im not sure if I'm more upset about losing Smith (for now -- he'll be back) or being stuck with Nelson for another year.

Believe Smith and Brian Daboll went to same high school.
Assistant offensive line coach.

With all the money we’re saving on that Smith salary, we should now be able to buy out Nelson.

Wow. Talk about big news.
Chris was an awesome OC last season. He called some incredible games. Really mixed the run and pass nicely.
All the best to Chris and his family on this new adventure. He’s a true Crusader and bleeds purple.

Worry about being able to get a guy back after he gets a taste of the good life. No recruiting. Charter flights everywhere. No long bus trips. 5 star hotels. Great food.

Possibly nicer locker rooms too. And you're right, you never know if Smith might just end up remaining an "NFL guy". Daboll might not be a bad coaching tree to be a part of.

Is the Giants' website as slow as HC's? Nothing there about Chris Smith.

FWIW, the cited story remains the only evidence of this I can find. Smith’s tweets are private. Have they always been that way?

We still haven’t announced the firing of the basketball coach so can’t imagine we’re going to be right on top of announcing an assistant football coach taking another job.

The promotion of Kennedy could be the least disruptive adjustment for Sluka, if it's a smooth transition. That however is an "if" because it effects the two coaching positions impacting him most directly. Hope we are firing on all cylinders for the BC game. Our cohesion was looking like a strength coming into that game, hopefully still is.

Going out on a limb and guessing coaching under Daboll is a heck of a lot more fun than coaching under Belichick.

There was a great article on/in The Athletic a few months back about how Daboll built his staff. If that article was close to true, you are absolutely correct.

Best of luck to Chris.
He is a great coach and will do great in the NFL.
This is going to happen a lot when you're good and in the limelight. And it's not a bad thing.

Not the first assistant BC has lost to the NFL. I look forward to seeing what differences, if any, we see on the HC offense early on.
