People in Virginia know that is not the case!

First ever win by a 16 seed I think 2nd. UMBC over Virginia 5 years ago My favorite part of the tournament...seeing the little guys destroying brackets.

Would love to see and hear the reactions of the NCAA committee people who seeded Purdue as a 1.

Based on their record and opponents’ strength, they had no other choice, Seeding cannot be based on previous years’ results.

FDU's Sean Moore scored 19 points, including the dagger three. Their pipsqueak guards, Demetre Roberts and Grant Singleton, combined for 20p, 10r, 9a, 4st - and just two turnovers.
D2 players all last year - they followed Anderson to FDU from St. Thomas Aquinas

They were bounced in the East Regional Final by Bentley.

And Cameron Tweedy, who came off the bench to shoot 5-6, played at State Fair Community College last year (where Malcolm Townsel started his college career)
All together, these four lower division guys combined for 49 of the team's 63 points, 21 of their 33 rebounds, and all 11 assists.

Talent can be found at every level. But the AI significantly whittles down the possible recruits. So again, it almost always comes down to coaching.

Would love to see and hear the reactions of the NCAA committee people who seeded Purdue as a 1. They deserved to be a one seed. I never said Purdue didn’t deserve the 1 seed. Don’t read too much into my comment. I was just saying I would love to have seen and heard the reaction (from a human emotional perspective) of those committee persons who made that decision when they learned FDU beat Purdue. (Surprise for sure.....anger, disgust, sadness, regret, joy...........who knows?)

So in the end, Pitino didn't raise Iona's program any higher than where Cluess had them (sorry if you haven't had your breakfast yet hoops).

Who would you rather have: 1. a coach who has taken 2 blueblood programs to national championships, but with 2 low major programs did not win a game, or 2. a coach (who is retired) who won a D-3 national championship, and twice won D-1 first round games with a low-major, academic minded school; a guy who, if you asked meathead "expert" Charles Barkley about, would first give you a dullard's blank stare, followed by a "uhhhh, duh, who's he". I'm guessing many/most here know who I am referring to. My big beef is with the media; everything comes from a perspective of the high majors. They pontify some of these coaches. Just driving to the supermarket a little while ago, I was listening to some guy who was suggesting a big reason Purdue lost is that damn transfer portal was weakening the benches of high major programs.....seriously.
Edit: not suggesting Pitino is coming here, or that coach #2 is coming out of retirement.

I got a kick out of the BU team celebration photo- Rick's first NCAA team. 1. Beat HC by a point 2. Game was at Matthews Arena. 3. One of his players ended up coaching the Sixers (Brett Brown). #11 in front. 4. Gary Plummer, played in the NBA. 5. Shawn Teague is the father of Jeff Teague, also played in the NBA.

I am not concerned about winning tournament games. I want somebody that can win championships regular season and postseason. I rather win 5 titles in a row then 1 or 2 tournament games and do nothing after that. (Colgate) (Iona) (Vermont)

Championships will keep players from transferring as well.
