No expressed interest from HC that I could find, but when I read this about Middlesex Magic guard Thomas Ferdinando (and took a look at his pic) the first thing I thought was - could this be Batch II in a couple of years? www.cityofbasketballlove.com/news_article/show/1278984Says he is interested in the Ivy League, so academic chops might be there.

I do not know if we have offered, but McConnell is a 6’10” rising junior who plays for the Middlesex Magic.

We are involved early with real talent
We are being hurt by a decade of a weak OOC schedule Sins of our past decades in terms of performance And until next year scorched by being a loser in the PL
Things are changing but to resurrect the tradition and success we all want and enjoy, it is time to show the world we are investing in our future!!!
Investing in our student athletes and Leaving the PL must be a priority.
leaving now sends a big message remaining in this conference tells interested players we don’t care about athletics

With all due respect, if you are a weak sister in a weak league (for now), even if you want to make a move, who is going to want to take you into their conference until we get substantially better?

That is what makes HC relationships valuable and important to attempt less tarnishes the HC brand and eventually will impact our four for 40 message I would suggest if we engaged our influencers there are few things HC can’t accomplish not suggesting we do something that creates discomfort, but encourage us to build a future of growth beyond the current conference structure i dont need all academic schools-heck we don’t have that with the PL no matter what some believe

Why would a good conference want a team, like the one you just described, to join their better conference? Who exactly are these influencers, is the BOT on-board? I get the "man the ramparts!" exhortation but where, and who are the manners? Did CDP get these kind of assurances when he signed on? Your proposal sounds noble but not very realistic. IMHO it would be easier for a coach to go to a losing program in the better league and attract talent than get that talent to come to a losing program in a bad conference thinking HC is about to bolt the PL. I hope you're right.

To elaborate a bit, there are two sides to the movement of a team to another conference: the team (HC) and a prospective new conference (any group other than the PL in this case).
So, HC MAY want to move from the PL (emphasize “may” because I have not heard one word outside of a few on Crossports that we’d like to do that), but what incentive is there for another league/conference to want to add us? Right now, I see nothing to offer other than our superior academics but the Ivy League isn’t going to come calling and the folks here who want to move on seem to be looking for a much more formidable athletic conference.
So, moving to a “better” conference is a possibility down the road but only AFTER DP can turn the current program around and that is not going to happen overnight thanks to all the mistakes of the past 10-15 years, especially the last 4.

Tom (sader 1970) hit the nail squarely on the head.
