While I was NOT your "reliable source," he impressed me in the scrimmage. I didn't have a roster with me and after some impressive running, I asked 8485 and hc16, who had the rosters on their phone who #31 was. Reminded me of Eddie Houghton. For those on the board that remember the 70's (me excluded he is Joe Wilson All over again. 21st century Joe Wilson. I missed your comparison when I posted -- agree with you!!

44, sounds like we could see Clearveux getting meaningful snaps this season? If he’s an Eddie Houghton-type, then more of a power back. Currently, Fuller is the only guy that fits that profile. I wonder how many times we will see a two-back set…which basically becomes three when you include Sluka. Sons yes he will be getting lots of playing time this year. The kid is just too good not to play him. Don't forget the kid did a prep school year so he really is a sophomore in age and development. He is also a tough street kid from Everett.

Joe Wilson was at Homecoming last year along with Eddie Jenkins and track star Art Martin.

he reminds me a little of a terrific RB from the early 70s. Reminds me of that same guy. Albeit MUCH younger.

Joe Wilson was a tremendous running back-just outstanding. Comparing our freshman to him is most encouraging

Joe Wilson, Ring of Honor, I have distant memories of him running up and down Fitton Field vs Rutgers.......comparison ==> HIGH praise Had to look, 274 yards on the ground in 1972 versus the Scarlet Knights. Have a day Joe! A product of Jamaica Plain HS iirc.

So Re Merrimack: I listened to the ~10 minute segment from the NEFJ guys podcast last night to hear all their "pick-ems" for Week 1. They went through the games of every D1 team they cover. Paraphrasing: Kevin Stone - "People might surprised, but I have this game as a toss-up. The talent and coaching level b/t these two teams are very similar, and that is saying something since many expect Holy Cross to be a national contender" Adam Kurkjian - "Yea I agree, I would not be surprised in the least if Merrimack pulled off an upset here" John Sarianides - "I also agree in that I think this is going to be one of the best and most competitive games on our slate this weekend. Merrimack has been building toward this season for 4-5 years now, they've done a great job recruiting and in the portal. Holy Cross is extremely talented but is having to replace more pieces from last season (references Liam Anderson and the D) If I have to pick, I think HC gets the win by 3-7 points but also will not be surprised if Merrimack wins this game." twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1dRJZMYNNyvGB

Can't say I like the NEFJ podcast predictions. Win is a win I suppose.
Looking at the gameday info email from this afternoon, one note caught my eye about our audio system:
"In stadium audio speakers have been relocated above the home sideline seating area in an effort to improve sound distribution for all fans in attendance. Additional speakers have been installed in an effort to ensure that sound is being allocated across the entirety of the stadium."

Having only seen Clerveaux on video Joe W was the best comparison I've heard. Power and speed with ability to cut. The frosh class is not only talented but numerically large, the class will keep on giving beyond the headliners.

The good folks on the "voice of the fan panel" or whatever it's called, are on the job. That helps the streaming experience also. If the broadcasters are kibitzing on a pet subject it's nice to hear the facts from the stadium announcer.

Excellent link. Coach is positive about H,Y and Merrimack on the schedule. Are you coming around at all? I still believe we have better options. Coach Chesney also said we want to play at a national level. While I have fond memories of past schedules, at this moment in time the Ivies and Merrimack do not meet the standards of a national level. When the elders of this augustgroup attended and/or played against them, including me, the two ivies we play along with Dartmouth were top 40 teams nationally so I get the devotion/loyalty but we/they are at a different level today. Sorry but we no longer need them to be the best we can be

Has anyone heard about a change in the team dinners for players the night before games? I’ve heard from sources on the team that only those players on the 2-deep will be permitted to attend those dinners. For obvious reasons, I sincerely hope that this isn’t true.

If so it will require we give more to the CAF to overcome budget issues. We should confirm asap Really? Maybe we need to start a GoFundMe page for HC Football…. Please…. “One Team, One Family” - well, not exactly… How much is HC getting in FBS appearance $ this year?

Do you mean a team dinner in a restaurant? There shouldn't be any budget issues with meals provided by HC Dining Services.

Does the team (those who are either on the two-deep or would otherwise be traveling if the game was on the road) stay in a hotel during home games? This wasn’t the case when I was at HC, but maybe things have changed. And maybe it’s just those guys who are at the dinner? Sounds like 2020 has some inside info.

No - I’ve been advised by some parents of players that this new “rule” is being implemented with respect to the “team dinner” on campus the night before home games. The justification they are trying to sell to the players is that they have “too many players” on the team. LOL. As dharry correctly pointed out in an earlier post, the team has 6 more players on the roster than last season. What a “team” concept…

I can't remember an exact figure being mentioned for BC or Army but seem to think it's less for both. Whatever it is, I assume it's already earmarked.

While I have a great deal of respect for my fellow posters, whoever tries to justify this new policy, either from a financial or more importantly a team building perspective, is really reaching….
