Hoops, if it did, that would be a clear contradiction of the Ivy's repeated statements that they do not treat athletes differently than other students. Are you implying they do? Couldn't a non-athlete decide to take a year off and then re-enroll for any number of reasons?

Yes. But if an athlete took a semester off he might be playing for a 5th year. Most teams admit that and list 5th year players. Why don't IL teams do that?

Let's hope these massive eggheads over-think things in their first game. HC is closer to "midseason form" than Yale. We won't have that advantage against Harvard but hopefully won't need it.

How would people know they were better than everyone else if they did things the same as everyone else? They play ten, everyone else plays 11-12. They skip post season, scholarships, red shirts and grad students. Fortunately we seem to be getting credit for playing a strong team by Massey even though they are an asymmetrical opponent.

I don't know the current rule for sure but I think it's the same as the old rule. An athlete can only participate in four years, regardless of whether he has any eligibility left at the end of those four years of participation. If an athlete participates his first four falls, he can't take the spring semester off and then play in that fifth year even if he has a year of eligibility left. That's a redshirt. And year of participation means academic year, not calendar year. So a high school senior can't enroll in the spring, practice, and then play four years. I believe an athlete can take a whole year off but can't participate in athletically related activities during that year. Some, particularly "minor" sport athletes, might do that -- for example, do a service year.

Anyone have any experience parking in Lot D or Lot A? Lot A is marked for visitors and actually looks a little closer to the Bowl. Any idea which is better? I went to the games at Yale in 2019 and 2021. I parked in parking lot A next to a really nice tennis stadium. In 2019 the tennis stadium also served as the visitor’s locker room. We were close to the team. In 2021 it was not used as the visitor’s locker room. The tennis stadium is now called the Westville Music Bowl. I’m using 45 Yale Avenue for GPS for parking lot A. Both years the tailgates were great . We have parking lot A to ourselves. Nothing but PURPLE!!! Could be more Holy Cross fans than Yale fans there!

I'd be willing to bet big money (and I don't bet) that Yale does not differentiate a 5th year vs. a "traditional" senior. A senior is a senior. At OSU, very rare for anyone to graduate in 4 years and that goes back 20-25 years ago and certain they never made a distinction of a player being there 4 or 5 years. We, in the PL, like to make that distinction . . . . but we answer to a higher authority. Tell you about a Woody Hayes home visit where the comment to father and son was priorities for you are Football Social life Finding yourself Eventual graduation As I recall, from a teammate, that list wasn't well received by Father or son

Looking forward to this one. The foe is formidable. But HC has put the work in — not just the past week but over the past number of years. No doubt Coach Chesney and staff have the team well prepared to succeed in this very type of moment. Thank you to all who lifted the bar for the program. Can’t wait to see the team lift high the Cross for us all. GoCrossGo!

Yes, BC had the same restriction. Only, we didn't get advance notice and had to check some stuff. We're set for today!! Thanks for the heads up, Crucis. But not going to see you (or Ben?) today? C'mon. $14 for senior ticket (you qualify!!! You only need to be 62+) and $10 to park right across the street from the gate in lot A. And hurricane Lee is far east and only cloudy there with temps running 71-74 degrees.

BC had the same thing. I didn't know, had a small bag, jacket, water, sunscreen. Gal says no bags, I say there's a jacket in it. She puts a blue band on the handle...no one else cared

The Clear Bag Policy is an inconvenience for women who use traditional hand bags. Next there will be a TSA type pass through. This is so sad we have to live like this. Wife did not like this at all. Cancelled Yale. Army West Point?

Now that you have called me out…I’ll be there. Not like I had not planned on being at Yale all along. It will be a pleasure for the Purple Gang to repeat last year’s performance and score. I have my clear bags 🤔😳 and have payed for the game myself. My son is keeping with his promise not to contribute to Yale. 🤣 Hoping to see a massive HC turnout in New Haven. Beat Yale!

Also something to consider — despite the capacity of the Yale Bowl being 60,000+ and there likely being no more than 8,000 - 10,000 in attendance, security will make you enter the bowl in accordance with your ticket. Don’t get caught walking down those long corridors only to have to turn around.

Inconvenient/ridiculous policy. Especially inconvenient when traveling via mass transit (w/normal backpack) to the game. Sometimes these ideas arrive with some justification but then stick around long past their due date. Pro tip:A carried jacket/vest with huge pockets can hold all sorts of stuff (sunglasses, iPhone. iPhone charger, granola bar, wallet, keys, inhaler, sunscreen, etc) and double as a seat cushion if need be.

This past Monday, on 9/11, I was at the Raleigh/Durham Airport. TSA had a new plan for screening the flying public. Did not have to take off shoes, or take out liquids or electronics. They had us march three abreast with a chemical sniffing dog on the side. Very efficient way to handle the issue without a major inconvenience to the passengers.
