Well, despite dropping three places in his ranking (19 to 22), it appears HC convinced Massey we are for real. He initially ( at the start of the season) picked Yale by 1 with a 50% chance for the win. Now he picks HC by 1 (28-27) and gives the Crusaders a 52$ chance for the win in New Haven. Yup, a virtual toss-up, but with the good guys on top. I hope to see HC coming out with something to prove in a game that has been a rough one with an opponent who has many times defeated HC in past games.

The Yale game is going to be the ultimate gut check. Yes. I can’t be the only one who is nervous for this game.

Yale will absolutely be a gut check game. Yale is loaded. Will HC come out flat & down after the heartbreaking loss to BC? With Chesney as the coach & the type of guys on this team I expect HC to come roaring back and play another great game on their way to a victory over the Eli.

I agree this will be a tough game, but isn't it a little strange for a game between the #5 team and the #30 team to be a pick 'em?

I agree this will be a tough game, but isn't it a little strange for a game between the #5 team and the #30 team to be a pick 'em? Home field is typically worth 3-3.5 points. If Yale is truly a fringe top 25 team, I could see why the computers would have this as close to a pick ‘em game. My guess is that when a line comes out, HC will be favored by 5-8 points.

Certainly not much of a home field advantage in a cavernous stadium with a small crowd. HC should offer free busses and one free pizza from Modern Pizza after the game for every kid who goes. (Yes, I said it. Modern is better than the other places.) Chesney will have them ready.

I believe this team will be ready for Yale. Yale is playing its season opener while HC has two games under its collective belt. Yale has a number of key players returning and well remembers past year's loss at HC. They will be up for this one but, after seeing how the HC linemen developed in the BC game, I believe HC will indeed come through with flying (Purple) colors. I do hope HC gets a good crowd at this game.

How'd the team do physically- I saw one kid that had a boot on when the teams came back out. Hope it's more precautionary than permanent.

Always thought the greatest learning for a team takes place between games 1 and 2.

Yale is big and has a ton of 5th years. It will be a tough game after BC but I could see it in Sluka's eyes during the press conference. He is going to be on fire next game. I think he will take that feeling throughout the season. I can see this being a tight game through 3 quarters but a combination of Yale's first game, our conditioning, and our deep desire to win will have us pull away by 10-14.

Rollcall for Yale….I plan to attend. I wish I could go. I think my wife would kill me after we spent 6+ hours yesterday at the "outhouse on the hill" (a phrase borrowed from my Godmother who went to BU and was hoping for a Sader upset special yesterday). Should be an awesome game and I hope we have a crowd. Have to keep us posted, Crucis.

Perhaps it was a better win for them than people thought! We shall see what Bassett looks like.

My question going into this game: What’s our largest ever margin of victory over Yale? I think we’ll top that on Saturday.

Met a Crusader defensive back at the Shake Shack in Newton after the game. After I congratulated him, he looked me in the eye, and said determinedly, “We will be back.”

Sounds like Devin Haskins.
FWIW, I've been telling the guys I know on the team that while the loss to BC obviously hurts, they appeared to earn the respect of the BC players, students and Boston media (they already had our respect) and I had one small favor of them: beat Yale as I hit the 3/4 century mark that day and some of my extended family will be with me at the game and post-game celebration. I'd consider it my birthday present.
The game yesterday was more of the old Crusader-Eagle dogfights unlike the last game in Alumni. They are breathing a sigh of relief.
Oh, so great to see the HC-BC student attendance ratio post-delay about 30 to 1.

HC should keep offering and strongly promoting student busses to away games. I bet the kids would love to outclass the student turnout at another regional school this week.

Oh, so great to see the HC-BC student attendance ratio post-delay about 30 to 1. 1- The DB was not Devin 2- The behavior of the taunting BC students as our team left the field at the end proves your statement about their respect for the HC players in error. 3- Very encouraging that the current students can now appreciate at least some of the feelings about the HC-BC rivalry that many of us have had for decades. Congrats on your 75th and plan to spend it watching this team. My former roommate spent 6 hours yesterday with his lovely wife at Alumni Stadium for their 56th wedding anniversary. What that school has done to a good many of us, as well as our non alum spouses !

I have seen a few Ivy League previews out there from Hero and Stats Perform, but has anyone found any other Yale previews?
From The Analyst (Stats Perform): 1. Yale (2022 Season: 8-2, 6-1) – The defending Ivy champs are primed to go back-to-back while also celebrating their 150th season. Coach Tony Reno’s squad is returning 13 players who earned a form of All-Ivy honors, all but set to flatten defenses with 2024 NFL Draft prospect Kiran Amegadjie at left tackle and three of last year’s top-five rushers in the league, quarterback Nolan Grooms, the 2022 Ivy offensive player of the year, and running backs Tre Peterson and Joshua Pitsenberger, who combined for 2,136 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground. Defensive end Clay Patterson has 18 sacks over the last two seasons, and cornerback Wande Owens, this year’s team captain, and linebacker Hamilton Moore shared last year’s team lead with 63 tackles each.

Can we stop with moral victories? Calling a game after a loss a let down game, congratulating losing players, etc. This team is special. I don't care that BC is a P5/ACC school...we play them 10 times, I bet we win at least 4 (and thats 10 times on a blank slate....10 times where Chesney gets to learn and game plan, we win more than 50%). Going in I thought our squad could hang with them and I viewed the game as a toss up...it basically was.
We put up 31 unanswered points against Yale last year. Yes they are as good, maybe even better this year than last year...but so are we. Aside from Derek Ng, everyone that scored for us last year is back. We should win this game, we should win every single game we play the remainder of the year until at least the semis. I'm not suggesting we overlook anybody, and I promise you the team will not...but this team is special...collectively and individually.
