Not that this would preclude any injury, but I believe that Max continued to play and was effective enough to hit a big 3 to give his team a chance at the win. Actually hit two big 3s in back to back possessions.

Probably to the surprise of no one in the 8th Region of KY high school basketball, ( there are 16 Regions), the Courier Journal announced Max Green is the Region’s POY. He is also one of 19 finalists for the KY Mr. Basketball Award which will be announced on St. Pat’s Day. Three of the 19 finalists are from the Louisville area. The favorite to win the award is a UK commit who averages just over 30 ppg.

I have to think that Travis Perry , second to Max on the leading scorer list, will win the award because (1) he is the all-time leading scorer in Kentucky history and (2) he has signed to play for UK.
There has actually been one Kentucky Mr Basketball on a PL team: 2012 winner Nathan Dieudonne went to BU

Alas, South Oldham beat Max’s Oldham county HS 61-60 so I believe that will end Max’s season.

Interesting that of the 29 players above Max in free throw percentage only two have more than Max’s 215 attempts; most have considerably fewer.

8 rebounds per game-pretty solid for a guard

8 rebounds per game-pretty solid for a guard and that is going to be important next season as we need to replace the Octave rebounds. Also, I would think with the penetration we get from Boston and Williams, our perimeter players (Green, Nugent, Singelton, and Richard) will get a ton of good looks form beyond the three- point line and in other open areas of the court. I stand by my earlier comments that future playing time will be determined by playing strong individual and team defense.

The Lexington Herald Leader recently announced its All-State Hoops Teams and Max finished 4th in the coaches voting. Coaches were asked to rank the top ten players. Max had one more vote than a kid named Unseld.

I’m guessing not. Wes Jr coached the Wash Wizards and so did not live in the Ville. I don’t know if Wes had other sons.
Wes’s older brother George was a long time city councilor here in Louisville. He played basketball for Kansas. Perhaps it is his grandson??

Once upon a time, I went to want young Matt Perry play pro baseball in Lowell MA. Perry was in the Tiger system and the second baseman on his team was named Kaline. Made me ask
