I love his footwork, and the quick release. At his size, he shouldn’t have any problems getting of shots. He will fit in nicely with the youngsters on this team, including Batch…I’d like to see him fill out a bit before next year!

Sunday’s print Courier Journal had a ½ page article on Max’s last game. I’ll reproduce below the paragraphs where he is mentioned
Oldham County knocks off No 13 North Oldham
Max Green, the state’s leading scorer, hit six 3-pointers in the third quarter and scored 30 points to lead the Colonels to a 66-64 victory over no. 13-ranked North Oldham in a packed Oldham County gym.
“It always means a lot to beat North,” Green said. “I was really proud of the guys the way we battled. We talked a lot that we haven’t got much respect among people in the state. I think we just earned it.”
It was a roller-coaster game for Green, who entered averaging 32.3 points per game.
He scored all seven of his team’s points in the first quarter, but the Colonels trailed 19-7. Green didn’t score in the second quarter, but his teammates got rolling and built a 35-29halftime lead. Green found his groove in the third quarter, with his sixth 3-pointer coming at the buzzer and giving the Colonels a 59-48 edge. “He has a stretch about every game where he does that, [coach] Leslie said. “It’s awesome and maddening at the same time. He has a few of those ‘No, no, no great shot!’ He has a lot of rope, and you have to do that when you have a guy who leads the state in scoring. When he’s on a burner you just sit back and get a drink and say ‘He’s going to shoot the next one.’ The worst thing you can do is overcoach that.”
Green said he wasn’t concerned after his scoreless second quarter.
“Everybody was probably like, ‘What’s going on?’” said Green, who has signed with Holy Cross. “But I didn’t worry. I knew it was just a matter of time. I don’t get too high or too low.”
Oldham County will face South Oldham in a win-or-go-home district semifinal February 27. South Oldham beat Oldham County 75-68 in overtime last month. “We kind of laid an egg against South Oldham”, Green said. “But we get to get our revenge at home in the district tournament=. That was really an embarrassing loss for us.”

Thanks, KY. It's entertaining for me to read Max's quotes. I'd say he has the confidence that goes along with his scoring prowess. It should be fun to hear his post game comments for 4 years. To paraphrase, "Yeah, we lost to those guys last time, what an embarrassment".

Nice feature article on front page of yesterday's print CJ sports section
Just getting started
Oldham County’s Green is already state’s leading scorer
Oldham County senior Max Green ia a lot of things: A Holy Cross signee, KHSAA’s leading scorer and a contender to win Mr. Basketball.
One thing he won’t be is overlooked. Not with the way he has emerged as a versatile offensive player, averaging 32.4 points a game on 52.1% shooting from the field through Tuesday. Green also is making 44.2% of his shots from 3-point range. “Yeah, I did,” Green said matter-of-factly when asked if he saw this kind of productivity coming. I have put in a lot of work. Not a lot of teams have an answer for a 6-foot-7point guard, so I think I saw something like this coming. I didn’t know what everybody else was going to do, so I didn’t know if I was going to be the state-leading scorer or not, but this was what I expected”.
Since becoming the face of Oldham County boys basketball, Green has evolved from a sharpshooter to a total offensive player who can play inside and outside.
Green embraced a message Colonels coach Josh Leslie gave him over the summer.
“You don’t have to take more shots”, Leslie told Green. ”You can get easier shots.” Teams are so concerned with his ability to make 3’s, and he has unlimited range, but percentage-wise you can sneak in another 10 points a game.
“As teams get so close to him, he now has that one dribble move and can finish multiple ways at the rim. It seems like he at least gets a dunk every game from the defensive standpoint just running through passing lanes. So we just try to make him a more rounded scorer instead of just a shooter.”
Leslie also told Green he doesn’t need to be a one-man show,
“For us to go where we wanna go, you have to empower some of these other guys too,” Leslie said.
Leslie said Green has gotten more enjoyment when his teammates have bigger scoring games than he does.
Junio Luis Nava scored 30 points against Williamstown on Jan 9.
“He’s cerebral about things,” Leslie said of Green. “To where he’s like ‘I know (Luis) is getting up there, let’s get him some more touches.’ He’s all for it, let’s get him to 30 points. Because he sees that giving a vote of confidence to those other guys is going to help us down the road.”
Green credits much of his success to the Oldham County coaching staff and his AAU team—Grand Park Premier—but his family’s competitiveness plays a big role, too.
His parents played basketball at Oldham County, too, Anna (Rufra) Green, Max’s mom, played alongside Kentucky women’s basketball coach Kyra Elzy in the state tournament as a sophomore. Eric Green, Max’s dad, narrowly missed a region championship as a senior. Steve Green, Max’s paternal grandfather, played basketball as a walk-on and earned a scholarship to play football at Kentucky after he graduated from DeSales
“Yeah, (we’re) super competitive,” Green said. “I was playing my mom 1-osan-1 in the driveway growing up. I still haven’t beaten her, but she stopped playing me when I knew I could beat her. My dad does an excellent job pushing me even after I have a good game. (my dad and I) will do some shootarounds; he can still shoot the lights out. I don’t think he wants me on 1-on-1. Eric is confident his son—despite leading the state in scoring—isn’t a finished product. “There’s lots of other kids in this state who have been full grown for three or four years;they have man bodies,” Eric said. “They’re finished products. Max isn’t, by any means. There’s a ton he will be able to add to his game once he adds 15-20 pounds of muscle, which iseventually going to

Not sure who loses minutes next year, and since we are two days before Lent I refuse to speculate. Bo and Joe will be gone from the backcourt

Not sure who loses minutes next year, and since we are two days before Lent I refuse to speculate. Bo and Joe will be gone from the backcourt it will still be interesting if you look at best fit positions for the going forward team. A big reason why I'm hoping Joe N can play some offensive 4. It also will be more interesting if Wills ends up playing some 2 after this year.

Joe N, has played offensive and defensive 4 all season. Played some 5 recently. No reason to think he would play any other, more crowded, position next year.

One more stat on Max. If he is shooting 52.1% on total field goals and a stellar 44.2% on his threes I believe he is making 60% of his two point FG attempts.
129/292 = .442 on threes 169/280 = .604 on twos
298/572 = .521 total
Making 60% of your twos is unbelievable for a guard

Is he the king of the modern analytics game? take only layups and threes ? No mid range. Those are low percentage shots.
