But don’t you think HC should have acknowledged that our guys were co champions in the tweet

FYI, just got home and, yes, stayed for Senior events and videotaped much of it. Got to speak with Coach Chesney and his Dad as well as Deputy Athletic Director, Nick Smith.
Also spoke with a couple of seniors and/or their parents.
Let’s just say that some can’t come back and some can but those that can were awaiting results and haven’t made up their minds yet depending on how things break re: NFL, grad school or HC.
Coach is VERY optimistic about next year with a more experienced defense and thinks a number of players will return. That said, I told BC that he’s perhaps the most optimistic guy I know.
One comment was when I said, “hey co-champs ain’t bad,” his response was “co-champs is better than no-champs!” He also said “I guess we’ve been spoiled these last 5 years” to which I said I agreed “but let’s keep on being spoiled.” 😊
Bottom line, while it may be wishful thinking, some on the post-game field think there’s still a chance this season is not over yet for the Crusaders.
When I told Nick, “ahhh, if only 9 points,” he said “19 points for all our losses total!”

Mr. Chesney, Sr. got slammed into on the sidelines on one play. Hope he looked OK.

This won't happen but it's fun to think about. ND's transfer QB, Sam Hartman, is done after this year. Why not bring in Matt Sluka? With great players all around him he would be fun to watch at that level. In an attempt to get his thread back on track as the 5th year projections should be in the 2024 thread...2 points. 1) I agree on ND not being a fit for Matt, but I would not be surprised if they have a run at Jay. He's that good. FBS P4 Programs that use a comparable system to us (shotgun but ground and pound w/ ideally a dual threat QB) Matt could be a fit (only those I've watched this year) - Illinois, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Indiana, Syracuse. 2) As for the game this week, I predict one of two outcomes. I think we either run these guys off Fitton and have the game in hand by early 4th quarter by 3 scores OR this game comes down to a final possession. For some reason, I don't see a casual, moderately stressful game where HC wins by 9-16. I think we either feel really good and see some reserve seniors playing by mid to late 4th Q or we are collectively holding our breath in the final 2 minutes. I hope for the sake of my blood pressure it's the former. Adding Kansas State to the 6 above as an offense that would be ideal for Sluka. Watching them now v KU.

Texas and their PA offense could use Coker. One big wide out and a short, fast slot guy. Two TEs, and a power back-- reminds me of the HC offense. Their best WR Xavier Worthy likely is in the NFL next year. Although they are unlikely to land in the same spot, I feel like Sluka and Coker are a package deal for staying or going.
