Massey makes HC a 3 touchdown favorite (42-20) with an 88% chance for the win.

Way too early forecast is for steady/heavy rain in the morning and showers in the afternoon. Can't we catch a break? This is why we need more than 4 home games at Fitton. Wish we could get Army at home at some point. Love that underrated rivalry. I think more people would come out to see Army in the rain than Georgetown.

Army has never come to Worcester -- even when both schools were major college football programs. They will never play at FCS Holy Cross. Unfortunately, it'll probably 1 game at Michie every 15-20 years. It is what it is.

But, make no mistake, the game will be in Amherst. HC: 1. Is FCS, and that means a lot. 2. HC doesn't sell enough tickets to warrant agreeing to a sufficient guarantee to the visitors. Way, way, way too much of a risk.

This season confirmed in my mind that the PL as it currently stands does nothing for us in football. Would love to see Army or UMass, UConn, BC coming to town and you bet even with the rain people would turn out for thr game. Still like the idea of a new Big East with a combination of high level FCS squads and northeast FBS teams. Our fans, alumni, and supporters don't turn out for PL games unless it is homecoming or a huge game with title implications (think Fordham last year). Our gameday atmospheres at BC and Army were incredible. I bet our student section barely shows up for the Georgetown game (hopefully some students read this).

We'd have to be in a league with these teams to get home games or an EBW type alum willing to pay seven figures to get them to visit an FCS field and give up their locked in season ticket, advertising, concession and parking revenue for their home games including FCS opponents. The EFG "Big Bang" in D-1 Football shaking everything up between subdivisions might throw us in with UMass and UConn, but no signs of that happening yet.

I think this Georgetown team is better than the usual Gtown team we play.

I think this Georgetown team is better than the usual Gtown team we play. Definitely one of the top 2 Georgetown teams since they've been in the PL, IMO. Even if we play reasonably well on both sides of the ball, I don't expect us to completely put them away until the 4th quarter. Other than 2 really bad games v. Columbia and Stonehill, the Hoyas have been impressive all season.

Even the Georgetown-Laffy game was close. Prior to the Bucky game, I would say Georgetown's defense has played well all year. Passing attack had been working for GU

This season has largely been a disaster weather-wise, particularly for home games. Can we please sh*t-can the Polar Park game going forward or do it every 2-3 years?
IMO, that game this year sidetracked this season.

The promotional hub-ub resulted in a less than full park and contributed to a season ruining loss.

We were not mentally prepared for that game and ended in our first FCS loss. Let's beat Georgetown and see what happens. Still, saying we are only 7-2 vs FCS rings of a moral victory or a, well they should consider us because other FCS teams have more FCS loses. Beat Harvard and they still would be on the verge of the top 25 now for a quality HC win. Poops!

That's crazy talk...lets accept your premise that somehow the Harvard game being at PP caused HC to lose that game...even accepting that premise its unlikely we suffered a 2 week hangover from it (especially since we hung 55 the next week) to cause us to lose to Lafayette...that's what sidetracked the season

What killed us were
(1) five turnovers versus Harvard indisputably cost us that game
(2) horrible passing game (Sluka must have been injured) against Lafayette's weak pass defense

As an aside...does anyone know if it is possible to do a split screen or a PiP with ESPN+? Would love to watch both Lehigh/Laffy and our game at the same time. I can do a split screen or PiP with my TV but it requires two separate apps/channels (so I could split screen Peacock and ESPN but not both as ESPN+). I can also access ESPN+ through Xfinity, but Xfinity does not have PiP.
Otherwise I'll go with laptop for Lehigh and tv for our Crusaders.

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for Holy Cross this season compared to recent years.
Still, the stage is set for a possible fifth straight Patriot League title – whether shared or outright – or an FCS at-large bid into the postseason for a third straight year, depending on how things unfold at Fitton Field in the season finale against Georgetown on Saturday.
More young players (especially on defense) have been asked to contribute this season than maybe any season under head coach Bob Chesney and while it hasn’t always been pretty, the team is still in a position to get itself back in the dance. That’s a pretty remarkable accomplishment give the current landscape of college football as a whole. Most importantly, being in this position should give younger guys an entirely new boost of confidence knowing that even through their growing pains, they’ve been able to help carry this team along for another ride.
“It’s very important,” said Chesney on Tuesday morning. “We’re back home. It’ll be our final game at Fitton. You can slice it up a million different ways, we still might have more games, there just won’t be another one at home. I think it’s one of those moments where…I don’t want to say it comes full circle, but you have a chance to kind of correct a lot of wrongs, correct a lot of mistakes and do it one last time on your home field, on your campus where you’re going to spend all winter and all spring continuing to hone your skills. You want those memories and that last moment to be really positive so as you progress into the winter and spring, you leave it on a high note.
“I think that’s important for their growth and their success mentally over the offseason.”
Perhaps even more important for the younger players’ confidence is knowing they didn’t hold the veterans back from one more special ride, even with their struggles. Now, they key on Saturday will be to seize whatever moment is in front of them and not wait for it.
“It’s definitely important,” Chesney said. “It’s a big deal. They certainly bent, but never broke. Here you are in a moment where the season had a lot of bending going on, but not breaking. That’s what this game (against Georgetown) has to represent. We have to be ready…I’ve said before, to be ready we have to stay ready and then at the same point in time, if your number gets called you have to be able to do something with it and be revealed.
“We talked a lot with our team. You made a choice to be here, right? You made a choice to want to compete. You made a choice to want to go to a team that’s one of the best in the country playing against two FBS teams in a very tough out-of-conference schedule. You made that choice. Then, every day becomes the fight. So, you choose, you fight, and then at some point, there’s going to be a moment that shows up directly in front of you and a play that shows up in front of you and you have to take it. You choose, you fight and then you’ve got to take it. Those are the things we’ve been really talking to them about all last week and again this week coming up. They all made choices. They have fought very, very hard. Now, it’s a moment where they can’t wait and hope it shows up for them, they have to take it. That will be a big theme throughout our week.”
Holy Cross purposely waits to do its Senior Day ceremonies until after the game each year, no matter what the circumstances are, so all focus can be on the task at hand. Either way, this special class that has built the foundation will be honored following the Georgetown game and hopefully, they’re celebrating with a fifth straight league title too.
Regardless of how things play out, the fact this program was even in a position to win another championship speaks volumes about the culture and consistency Chesney has developed over the years.
“None of us intend to be done playing football yet,” he added. “Coach Gratuski sent me some numbers from the week…we’re moving weight in the weight room faster than we had. We were moving it 2% faster a couple years ago, now we’re at like 12%…we’re hitting top speeds on the field right now physically with those guys that we have out there. It’s one of those things where none of us want to be done yet. None of us are ready to be done yet.
“I always think of the clip of Flutie throwing the Hail Mary. After Bernie Kosar scores, they come back over, the camera pans over to Flutie and he buckles his chinstrap and gives a little nod. He’s ready. But, you go to the sideline and there’s guys sitting on the bench with their heads down like ‘this game’s over.’ They did not yet believe, but he did. In the end, they win that game and everybody believes. That’s what I said to our guys. Don’t be stuck in the senior line after the game, we win the game and we find out the other team lost. Don’t wait until then to believe. Let’s start believing now.”

For the record, I can't see myself continuing to pay for NEFJ moving forward as I don't actually think their coverage is all that good, but I'm happy to post any articles through this season at the least.

Assuming Sluka is as healthy as he was prior to the start v Army I am assuming he starts v Georgetown. And I'm confident we can win. At the same time, should Pesansky start (he started the last two must-wins v PL competition) I'm confident we'll win.
Chesney's points are well taken in that we can't time-travel back to the devastating upset loss to Lafayette (38-35) but ending the season on a very positve note at Fitton Field will give the players a much more positive mindset going forward. (And if Lehigh upsets Lafayette...)
