92-67 Baylor wins (final). Gate had nothing to stop Baylor’s O. Just too fast and athletic for Gate to handle. No surprise. Has Langel’s stock dropped again due to this result?

Paulsen's team got destroyed by UConn in 2011 and never won an NCAA Tournament game. It didn't seem to impede his career. Langel has done extraordinary well at Colgate. People realize that succeeding at the PL level might not translate to higher levels, but another conference championship ain't gonna hurt him. Name a PL coach who has won one or more NCAA games who has coached at a higher level.

Very disappointed with Colgate. Four years being dominant in the PL, a couple 5th year seniors, and they laid another rotten egg. It seemed they weren’t ready to play in each tourney appearance. Meanwhile, Yale hung tough and got it done.

The last two wins by Yale must have been lucky. They should not have won against Brown and now with yesterday's win they maybe the luckiest team in the dance.

With Colgate, unfortunately I think the game confirmed what we suspected all along - they just weren't quite as strong as some of their other recent teams. Remember, they hadn't had to face even a top 200 team in almost 3 months. I don't think it was really a matter of being unprepared.
For instance, while Braeden Smith is a fine player and pg, he wasn't going to go off for 35 points like Jordan Burns did against Tennessee. The Moffatt Man, while again a fine PL player, was not at the level of Tucker Richardson. And while young kids like Cox and Parker Jones have promise, they couldn't be expected to have the same impact in a game like this that Nelly Cummings or Jack Ferguson would have. Really, the Mayor of South Kingstown was the only one who looked like he could punch up a level. Course, if Baylor shoots like that going forward it's going to be tough for any team to bring them down.

What was lucky about their win over Auburn? Lucky had nothing to do with them being in position to win the game, which is the most important thing of all. However, when good foul shooters (in the 77-78% range) on the other team brick up 3 in the last 10 seconds and blow a couple layups that would have tied the game.....have to say the hoop gods were humming Boola Boola as they left the arena.

What about the shot to the Auburn player's throat that was not called. Then when he retaliated a minute later, he was given a flagrant 2 and thrown out of the game? This Yale team is good, but that was one example of "luck." I guess it is usually the retaliation that gets called.

As Bill Russell told me via color commentary on ABC for NBA games, one needs to look at the entirety of the game and not one play. As a poster commented Yale due to its play was in position to win the game. They won. It was the school's second win in history in the NCAA tournament. Good for Yale.

The Big East was treated very unfairly given their strength this year - only 3 teams got in (all won their first round games).
The SEC, in contrast, got 8 teams in. 5 have already lost (many - including Kentucky and Auburn - via upset).

Being a fan of a mid (on a good day) major, I look at the power conferences with a jaundiced eye. However, if it comes to rooting for either the Big East or the SEC, I will root for the Big East.
