Chesney is not going to JMU. Mark it. That's Great, then how about Bob let us all know that right now instead of creating all this unnecessary angst. Just saying he could end the discussion immediately, but he hasn't and why is that?? Just asking for a friend..

We might be able to place intern/recruits at the White House and other government offices once again A great future for our student-athletes if they have an interest Please tell us more on this.

Is he supposed to send out a tweet every time his name appears in an Athletic article mentioned as a candidate for a job?

For those reading or posting I ask that anything you can do to advance our athletic programs would be enormously appreciated by the school, coaches, players and their families.
If you can help place this class of recruits for spring internships it would be great, and it will introduce you to the scholar athletes we are bringing into our institution.
For those with business, government, medical, and legal relationships in your community this is an incredible opportunity to reinforce the value of the Holy Cross network to their next forty plus years.
The same proposal is there for the summers as the 90 wide program has prove.
If you want to engage for football or hoops please DM me and I will give you the contact information for the wonderful leaders in this effort
Larry Doyle Mark Cannon Artie Grutt Whitey Moynihan Roger Breslin David Harrington Midwestsader05
Btw if we can get this done I assure you our Coach and staff will be appreciative as they take the effort to deliver SIX PL Champioships in a row - yes Coach is totally focused and committed- my word and assumptions

Any angst is genuine emotions from loyal fans generated solely by the fan. A very legitimate approach by a coach in Chesney's position is to say nothing at all. To me that's the smart way.

We have individuals with significant experience and influence in the DC Community. In the past we had our scholar athletes placed at the WH, government agencies and Congress. I have absolutely no inside information but let me speculate on a possible reason. Perhaps it is Coach Chesney who has turned down the job, rather than beat out by another candidate. He turns down the position but they ask that he refrain from making any announcement to that effect until after JMU announces the new coach. Especially if the expected new hire announcement is to happen soon.

Lets hope this logic plays out.....if BC has it on reliable authority that the Chestnut Hill job will be available in1-3 years, what is the better stepping stone job.........a lower level Power 5 job which has been a dumpster fire the last 5 years, or a G5 job coming off an 11-1 season that someone else built ??........If you succeed at the former, your star rises......if you fail at the latter, you're wishing you never made the move

Maybe PVR and ADKH did the right thing a year ago by putting in a large poison pill (buyout by Coach or new school) that declines over the length of the contract thus making a signing very expensive to prohibitive in the early years." I have no idea, your thought is as good as any.

Please tell us more on this. We have individuals with significant experience and influence in the DC Community. In the past we had our scholar athletes placed at the WH, government agencies and Congress. We can do it again We cover both sides of the aisle I would expect that this has been the case, but I inferred from your post that there had been some type of interruption in the Worcester to DC pipeline, but now it’s open again. Am I reading between your lines too much?

You are, as my comment was not intended to suggest a change in direction in our recruiting
However, in both basketball and football the DC metro area is well represented with commitments and potential recruits

According to multiple reports, James Madison University is expected to name Bob Chesney, who guided the Holy Cross football team to a record five straight Patriot League championships in his six seasons at HC, its new coach.
JMU, a former Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) power that won two national championships at that level, elevated to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and the Sun Belt Conference last season.
Curt Cignetti, who led the Dukes since 2019, recently became coach at Indiana University.
The 46-year-old Chesney, a three-time Patriot League coach of the year, is 44-21 at Holy Cross (including the COVID-shortened spring 2021 season), and, in his tenure, has brought the program into national prominence.
Under Chesney, the Crusaders made four straight NCAA playoff appearances and in 2021 beat Sacred Heart for the program’s first postseason victory.
Last season, HC went 11-0 in the regular season for just the third time in program history, ended with a program record 12 wins (12-1) and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.
Holy Cross finished the 2022 season with a No. 6 national ranking. Chesney was a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award as FCS coach of the year.
The Crusaders beat FBS foes in back-to-back seasons (UConn in 2021, Buffalo in 2022) and came within three points of defeating both Boston College (31-28 loss) and Army (17-14) this year.
HC finished the 2023 campaign 7-4 and shared the PL title with Lafayette, but missed out on an at-large FCS playoff bid.
In 2018, Chesney took over a Holy Cross program that had just one winning season in the previous six.
Last month, Chesney was reportedly in the mix for the Syracuse job.
No. 24 JMU (11-1) faces Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl Dec. 23.
Damian Wroblewski, JMU’s associate head coach for offense, will serve as acting head coach for the bowl game.
Chesney has spent 11 years in Worcester, and also brought the Assumption football program into the national spotlight. He led the Greyhounds to the most successful five-year stretch in program history and took the team to three NCAA Division 2 tournaments.
In his first head coaching position, Chesney led Salve Regina to a record of 23-9 in three seasons (2010-12).

Thanks for everything Bob Chesney. You gave me so many memories I will never forget! You were not just a great football coach but a great person. In my opinion you will go down with Eddie Anderson as the 2 greatest HC football coaches ever. I know Mark Duffner and Cleo A. O'Donnell were also great. I hope I am not being a prisoner of the moment. I do study history. But 2 playoff and 2 FBS wins. 5 League Titles and an undefeated season So many other insane moments. Last second wins for example. He is #2 on my all time football coaches at HC.
