I wonder if Chesney spoke with him when he visited Syracuse.

Your pick is following KH and someone with connections to the program is following him, so I have to think he is in the running. I just noticed those myself. He even follows the person back

Nuncio = a papal ambassador to a foreign government. Could we get the Pope to come to Homecoming?

I'd be shocked if that is direction that we go, but with his deep ties in NJ, you'd imagine he'd be able to recruit at a high level at HC.

And Nunzio Campanile was listed a number of times as well. Hmmm. FBS assistant, Bergen Catholic coach, Paramus Catholic grad, comes from a family of coaches. Boy, he checks a lot of boxes. I don't know if there's a connection but a different Campanile, Vito is the current BC coach. Don't know the relationship but Vito's son was a well thought of QB. BC, Don Bosco send guys from Little Three to Texas A&M, Ga. Frosh Sean Woods from there. Regarding salary, you can look it up online, I think they say he makes 325k but don't know if it is accurate or sans bonuses.

Last time HC brought in a former head coach from BCHS to coach at the Cross, it was Bob Norton back in the 1960s. Of course, what followed was the contaminated water and a cancelled season because of jaundice. Perhaps if Nuncio comes things will take a more positive turn this time.

I knew Bob thanks for the memory, he taught history at BC, he died quite young but was wonderful man, family guy.

He was all of that and a great coach. I have long wondered what might have come to pass if HC's water supply had only been better.

I think we assume we're not flying people out here, but there was a flight to Syracuse earlier this afternoon.
I don't know if I can check arrivals from yesterday on flight aware, but I thought it was at least worth sharing.

Ok ignore that, looks like that's a 1 or 2 seater plane.

Not sure where you are getting Norton not being with us. Unless he died since 2019 and I can't find any record of that. ahcahockey.com/news/1819/0118awa.php Great variety in his life- teacher, principal, hockey coach, football coach, hockey analyst. If he's still around, he's 80 or 81.

No jinxes please.🙂 I am wary of assistants. I would prefer documentation a candidate had led a group of 100+ players, coaches, support staff, student managers etc, and that the group has followed him to success.

Ok ignore that, looks like that's a 1 or 2 seater plane. Extra credit for a candidate who is a wing walker. He could have flown out with a friend who has a small two seater plane. With Logan, TF Green, Bradley and Worcester airports covering all major carriers, private planes shouldn't be needed but as time is of the essence, go for it in this case.

Looking at it more, it does look like there's a backseat which would fit another passenger or two. Photos of the plane here (https://www.flightaware.com/photos/aircrafttype/DA40) I joined flight aware so I can see prior flights, and there wasn't anything from Syracuse on Wednesday, so I think this is more likely to be a training flight or something similar (this plane flies to/from Syracuse every 2 weeks). I would assume most people we'd be bringing in would fly to Logan and we'd have a car waiting for them. Worcester Regional only serves direct flights from NYC or Orlando.

Revisiting the higher level assistant vs the lower or same level head coach concept, when BN was hired he did not appear to embrace schmoozing with fans, alumni, potential donors. It was complicated because he started out losing consistently and then the pandemic hit which knocked out schmoozing opportunities. But someone comfortable being the accessible face of the program and selling the program to campus and community is important.
Some assistants would be great at it and you can feel that in an interview but a head coach who has already been good at it is attractive.

Not a big hockey guy but it would be hard not to know who Bob Norton was/is if you're a sports fan in Massachusetts from his many years doing hockey on NESN.
I nevah knew he was once at HC....learn something all the time here.

I think we've covered the aviation patterns on the East Coast these last few weeks almost as closely as the FAA

I think we've covered the aviation patterns on the East Coast these last few weeks almost as closely as the FAA In my defense, I have crazy work deadlines the past few weeks, so I'm sitting at my home office working until about 11 each night, with my personal computer sitting on the side. Flight tracking is somehow one of the things keeping me sane right now

For sh*ts and giggles, I'll play. Per the FAA registry, the plane is owned by 413 Bravo Lima, LLC, a MA LLC. MA SOS site shows Albert Lavalley at 55 Linden St in Worcester as owner. He is also the owner of Sustainable Comfort in Worcester. He is a WPI grad and I am not seeing any connection to HC. More likely it is pleasure cruising for him than coach related.

That's been my thought since I looked at it's general flight paths. It's just odd that it went to Syracuse and back in the same day. Typically it doesn't. So I don't actually think its a flight to pick up Nunzio's family or what not for an announcement tomorrow, though I'm putting the chances at a solid 1-2%.
Edit: OK, I'm getting better at reading FlightAware. This whole trip actually does align with the plane's normal schedule, so just ignore me for the time being

Unless he's offered a head coaching job? Just seems odd to take an official new position at your current school if you're potentially accepting a new job a few days later. I assume the HCHC position pays more than the Syracuse QB coach role, but who knows what Cuse is working with right now in terms of cash. The new coach is filling out his staff. Said he wanted to keep Nunzio. Have to put him somewhere. If he leaves, it’s not that big of a deal to find a QB coach.
