Tough call ! Merrimack had #5 overall defense last year 283yards a game.Does he bring his DC . They got the Job done as well. Does this mean James is gone? If not, how did they keep him from leaving? Hope not. It is possible that he keeps James as his DC (maybe with a pay bump). Kit is savvy enough to pay Curran less than BC's last extension salary. The DC at Merrimack predates Curran there and is presumably the heir apparent.

My Initial reaction is one of surprise and disappointment that it wasn't Chris, but looking forward to learning more about Coach Curran.

Did Curran serve as the Offensive play caller? Don't see an OC listed on the Merrimack staff. Confirmed....Curran also was the O play-caller for Merrimack

With Curran being the choice, I think the list of candidates was not very large. I was not impressed with the way the Merrimack players played.

With all my years in business, you see things that become consistent and obvious. Winners win and losers lose, Not taking a shot at the coach personally , but his record speaks for itself. His teams play with a chip on their shoulder almost to a fault. I'm with big fan not sure how big the search was for candidates, but this sounds a bit to safe/local NE pick for myself.
Good luck coach, welcome to HC...

.. so if we chose someone from the midwest you would conclude the list of candidates was large - very little logic in yr statement

Logic says more loses than wins means loosing record, that's pretty obvious. By the way what's wrong with a coach from the midwest, seems like the athletes we bring in from Midwest excel at HC..

IMO, the best means to assess the hire are the 3 games that Holy Cross played against Dan Curran led teams at Merrimack these past 3 years. I think anybody who watched those games would come away and say that Holy Cross had to fight for every yard. Did Dan Curran outcoach "what was the other guy's name again" in 2021? I think you can make a very compelling case that he did. These past 2 years were hard fought games both times.

College football is the ultimate team sport. Given the resources and support that HCFB provides, I am confident that CDC will be able to attract and develop talent so that our Crusaders can sustain the commitment to excellence that has been developed over these last 5 years.
He is from the UNH Football tree as well. Not a bad thing. A physical presence to boot.
I welcome supporting and helping him lead our Crusaders to ever greater heights.
Kudos also to ADKH for the professional manner in which the process unfolded. Loose lips sink ships and there was none of that here.
LET'S WIN!!
A commitment to excellence in helping our Crusaders win on and off the field.

I remember seeing Curran speak in videos both before and after our game with them this year. I liked his approach and wish him all the best as HC head coach. I believe he will do well with recruiting, but I must confess that I am anxious to see his staff. I would hope that Scott James can be a big part of it going forward. I thank God the wait is over!
PS: Don't underestimate his skill in bringing Merrimack from D2 up to D1 and winning as often as they did in that process.

If one thinks Curran’s record is not impressive it might reflect the move up from D2 to D1 for the Merrimack football program. I think this was a decent hire.

Only having limited scholarships and going 8-3 first year was impressive in D1. Plus they handled HC pretty easy couple years ago which was big win for program. He seems to be a football guy who has played at all levels and stuck it out at Merrimack as coach to make the move to D1. Seems loyal and competitive. Expect 6 peat and another solid year in 24!

The 6 peat is happening. He is gonna fire up this program. Chesney built the foundation. Now it’s time to elevate further!
