The game is so much easier when the ball goes in the basket - for our team it’s that simple That totally captures last night.
A baseball team that is in a team hitting slump looks like they aren't trying.
A basketball team that is constantly shooting poorly can demonstrate they are "trying hard" by their effort on the defensive end. But, when they lose because they simply couldn't put the ball in the basket, one thinks "they just stink".
The truth on this HC team lies somewhere in-between IMO.
Assuming that Max Green (3G) and Tyler Boston (PG) give us some help next year at two aspects of the game that we are currently poor at, 3 pt shooting and PG play, respectively, things could improve quite a bit next year.
In any case, it was fun to watch a HC basketball game where the team looked like they had some confidence in their offensive game and executed efficiently.
HC is not a bad 3 point shooting team. Batch and Nugent are both good 3 point shooters. If Max can come anywhere near his HS 3pt shooting when he gets to college we will be outstanding from beyond the arc as a team. Khalil also has been more than solid from 3-land this year.

Paulsen applied for the Bucknell job but was passed over due to age or whatever? Or, Bucknell didn't bother to offer knowing Paulsen was on his way to Mt. St. James? How well did Paulsen do in Lewisburg? He seems like a terrific guy to me and a very good coach, too, And will likely change very good to excellent in the near future.

His offense might not be quite there yet, but HCDP likes his defense, often putting him on the opponent's top guard. He praised DW for his defense against Forrest last night.

Bucknell's job opened before ours did, so presumably they had a window to beat us to Paulsen if they wanted to. You can imagine that gets complicated, though... Paulsen left Bucknell, albeit after great success. That leaves a mark. You can't go home again, etc. (Imagine Bob Chesney flames out at JMU, and applies for the HC FB job in 5 years. There would probably be a lot of feelings in all directions.)
Personally, no complaints on the outcome from me. We even got a villain to root against in Griffin. (I asked NADave last night if we could bring out Javy Meade to match up with Griffin.)

Someone finally posted something on the Bison board about last night’s game in a succinct three word post, “Well that sucked.”

The Navy game on Sunday is huge if we want to avoid a playoff play in game on the road. A win gives us a 2 game lead over Navy and a split in the series. A loss means a tie with Navy in the standings and a sweep by Navy in the series. With only 2 games left after Sunday's game and one of those games against Colgate we need to win Sunday. Getting swept by Army hurts

We have held our opponent under 20% offensive rebound percentage each of the last four games after not having done so even once in the prior games. Nice work by our guys

In HC's first PL game this season, they lost by 12 down there. A better showing tonight might feel like evidence of movement in the right direction. Hoping the core 10 are all ready to play tonight. Between Nugent and Octave, it's been a little while since the starting 5 has been intact We saw some evidence

When I think back about the game last night, the defensive effort stands out to me. Shooting the ball well was a big factor, but to see the way the players moved as one on D was great. I’d like to see Nugent put the ball on the floor and attack the rim, that would open up his shot.
Who has improved more, Louth or Caleb?

Caleb is avoiding fouls and thus can use his athleticism and improved skills around the hoop in big minutes. Even free throws have gotten better Louth had further to come and his effective minutes have increased though foul trouble has been a big issue. His footwork and inside skills have grown. His free throws are still a problem.

Caleb stands at #1 in the PL and #29 in the country in block %.
He has already made twice as many free throws season to date as he made all last season— gets to the line more and has improved his pctg.

I believe that Caleb’s and Louth’s improvement is primarily due to coaching and their work.
