Before the season who would have thought that he would make the PL defensive player of the year ? Well, he did, for one. He specifically mentioned DPOY as a personal goal in his "Holy Crossover" interview with Ben Capron. (I remember because I kind of snickered when I heard it.) Oh ye of little faith🤣🤣

Caleb blocked 71 shots this season. That is the second highest season total ever for a Crusader, exceeded only by Jehyve Floyd with 80 a few years back.

Time to see invitations on the HC website to our "block party" again?

I just took a look at the moribund Colgate board which had just a couple of posts about last night's game. They get a kick out of our take on the HC team - here are two posts: "The Cross is undersized & just not very good, which makes reading their message board pretty funny." "The HC board is one of life’s small pleasures." The quality of Colgate's basketball team is matched only by the ennui of their student body.

Does anyone think we will lose or gain through the portal in the off season? Send anyone who's thinking of leaving the following info. Kyrell Luc hasn't played a full game's worth of minutes since the beginning of February. Martindale's on a team worse than HC's. Joe Pridgen's going for his fourth school. Etc. Only person that's done ok for himself is Drew Lowder, and that took a lot of work.

Reilly averaged 11.3 ppg and shot 51.6% from the floor overall, 40.6% on 3s and 80.4% on FTs on a Sacred Heart team that finished 3rd in the NEC, 16-16 overall and lost on Wednesday in the NEC quarterfinals. RJ led Charleston Southern in scoring (15.3 ppg) and assists (3.0 apg) while shooting 40.4 from the field overall 40% on 3s and 88% on FTs. Yet CS is 10-19 going into its Big South tournament game vs. UNCA tonight. I’ll venture a guess that Reilly and RJ both would have helped us significantly this yr. both with their experience and production. Nevertheless, it’s spilled milk, much of which we can lay at the feet of FHCBN. It’s onward to ‘24-‘25 where hopefully Mr. Boston will make us forget some of the guards from the immediate past who departed.

Already done. Now if folks would just stop posting about the departed, it could be easier to do just that.

Reilly would have played over Batch and RJ would have given us a PG Those two on the roster might have given us 5-8 more wins Not a knock on the others but a true PG would have made all players better, and Reilly is as good a shooter as Batch and a much better defender

Since I'm not really much of an "in-game commenter", I'll say I thought we played respectably last night, much better than we looked the last time against Colgate. It was one of those games where you think the team's playing fairly well and then all of a sudden you look up at the scoreboard and you're down 13 points. Octave and Bo both had strong individual performances in their final games at Holy Cross.
From a fundamental standpoint, I think this is the best Colgate team they've had on their recent run. More dept down low and more athleticism in prior years (thinking of that PG they had) but as far as having the chemistry and confidence to win a game in "The Dance", I think they have it. Hope they get that NCAA win, assuming they are able to get out of the PL. The overall weakness of the league won't help them so they're probably looking at a 15 seed. Any of the other 3 are almost certainly 16s, if not "First Four" material.
Also, good crowd last night for a quarterfinal game. Traditionally, opening round and quarterfinal games in the PLT don't move the needle at all as far as attendance relative to regular season. Even at Hart during the Willard era. I'm guessing the combination of it being a Thursday night and Colgate not being on spring break was the difference there.

It seems that the team and help defense is much better as well. Full disclosure, I'm definitely not one of the experts here. 🤣

I also thought Williams got taken to the cleaners as well on a few plays.

Our defense was not good last night Batch was not the worst Octave was Octave played hard with the ball in his hands. Not very hard when it wasn’t. As good as Octave was during the PLT and in our big win against Georgetown, I don't think we'll miss him and Bo as much as we might think next year. Those guys were great when they were on but a lot of low % shots taken. And I don't mean that in a negative way. So thankful for a guy like Bo being a rock for this program amongst total chaos his 4 years. And same to Joe for identifying HC as the place to be for his education when he was in the transfer process, knowing our recent basketball futility. Hope Bo finds a nice landing spot for his grad / COVID year.

Most of the mock brackets have them as a # 15, against UNC.....not an insane upset pick, particularly after last years's tournament

So if somehow Colgate doesn't win the championship, the winner would be somebody that Holy Cross actually beat. The other teams that swept the 'Saders have all been knocked off.
Better for the league if it's Colgate, no question about it.
Lafayette looked pretty good beating HC in Easton in early February. After that, they went 1-7.
