No surprise here. Massey makes Colgate a 16 point favorite (78-62) and says they have a 92% chance for the win.

I was at the last game against Colgate and the team I watched then was not the team I saw on TV last night. I was sitting close enough to the bench to witness body languages and facial expressions and I wasn't sure what I was seeing. Players didn't seem engaged. I'm going to chalk it up to the growing pains of a new coaching philosophy, lots of new players, and just a long season. Hopefully, this playoff win recharged them. They held their own against Colgate in spurts so with a sustained effort...you never know. That being said, Colgate is very good. They were very effective driving into the paint the passing off when the double team came. And their defense recovers quickly so we didn't have the same effectiveness with that approach. Plus they have size with Records and that other Sasquatch guy so hopefully Louth can give us some quality minutes. Either way, this team has a ways to go but I see signs of hope and enjoyed watching this season a lot more than seasons past. Hoping for some March Madness magic tomorrow. Go Cross!

If I am not mistaken the last game against Colgate was the week before Spring break. As some of us remember this was the week when there are a lot of mid-term exams and papers due. Having the academic crunch that week may have had an impact on the player's performance against Colgate. With this week being the spring break week, I hope the team is more engaged in basketball, How many times in that game did we have lane violations on Colgate free throws? - a sign that the concentration level was not that high.

Colgate is obviously the beast that must be tamed.
If we can pull the upset on Thursday, I have no hesitation thinking that we can go head-to-head with whomever we might face in the semi-finals or a championship game.
Why not us?!

We need CK to give us 35 minutes, and stay out of foul trouble. He is playing at another level at the right time. Last five games . . . 17ppg (36-59, 61%), 13-18 FT ( 72%), 8rpg, 11 blocks. And the best defensive player in the conference.
Honestly, I did not have this on my bingo card at the beginning of the season. But it has been a great show to watch

Let's hope Colgate is as awake as their message board (last hoops post 2/29). Would also be nice if the Raidahs can have a bit of an off night shooting the ball.

In both games HC shot 6-22 on threes...while Colgate was 12-23 out there, and 8-19 at the Hart.
FWIW, both of Colgate's 2 league losses came in front of the Cotterell Crazies.

Not saying it is going to happen but if UPenn parted ways with Steve Donahue would Langel be interested in the job.
UPenn didn't make the Ivy League Tournament for the first time since 2017 and did not have a very good year.
I am not sure Langel is going to be as hot a coaching candidate as he is right now.
Colgate is losing some very strong players this year.

I have to believe that Langel has turned down better jobs than UPenn.

Colgate is losing some very strong players this year. Langel would take that job in a heartbeat. He has been holding out for a Philly job for years, and Penn is his alma mater. I've been expecting Langel to end up at La Salle, where his mentor, Fran Dunphy, came out of retirement to save the program. He is almost certain to retire again shortly and likely will push hard for Langel.

Good chance he will look back at his Colgate tenure as his days of wine and roses, and frostbite. Sometimes we don't know how good we have it. He should take either of those two jobs but might not have the same success as in Hamilton.

Penn on the other hand certainly has no such concern.

The problem is that when you limit yourself to only considering five or six jobs, you are not really a hot prospect. St. Joes, Temple, La Salle, and Villanova all made recent coaching changes - and Langel did not get any of those jobs. He likely could have moved up the ladder to a number of other conferences but has shown no interest.
