Would think Todd Bowles, Sean Payton, and Mike McCoy are all on the hot seat. Lots of public conjecture about all three of these coaches. Would think Payton might get quickly picked up elsewhere.
John Fox in Chicago, Chuck Pagano in Indy, and Chip Kelly in San Fran seem to me less likely of getting canned but you never know. I also wonder if the Marvin Lewis reign in Cincy might come to an end as well.

Thank you '81. I could not agree more. I count myself fortunate and blessed to have so many great relationships stemming from Holy Cross. Our common bond is truly special. I thank all those who frequent these parts and/or read this board for adding to the depth of what makes Alma Mater great.
Merry Christmas to all . . . and while I have your attention, LET'S WIN!!

The 17 assists on 24 fg puts us back on track after a few low assist games. Up to .670 assist per fg, 9th in the country, but the 6 directly above us are well within reach. I would imagine that Mr. Naismith and legendary coaches (Wooden et al) envisioned that a high assist per fg ratio is how the game is meant to be played.

Dave, This is an instant and all-time classic. Thanks for your efforts.
How do we make sure this gets properly wrapped and delivered to the team?

Rocco was also quoted in the linked article above as saying this:
"The landscape of college football is changing rapidly,” Rocco said.
Not so sure he's talking about the Big 12, the American, and other FBS conferences.

Interesting development today. University of Richmond head coach Dave Rocco leaves to join fellow CAA school, University of Delaware. Why would he do that after building a strong program at Richmond over the last 5 years including a trip to the semi-finals of the FCS playoffs this year? One story has it that Rocco may be leaving because Richmond has its eye on moving to the Patriot League. Might that happen? Well, I found this quote from Coach Rocco today of interest: “To me, this is the only [FCS] league to be in, for me geographically, the only league I’d want to be in. I learned that quickly after arriving at Richmond.” Not a stretch to read that quote as an indication that Richmond is/may be leaving the CAA. Stay tuned. Would be a great addition for the PL.

Nice memory, Clock.
Freshman year for me 1979. The Buckeyes (including Kelvin Ransey, Herb Williams, Granville Waiters, and Clark Kellogg) were coming to town to take on the Crusaders early in the season at the Hart.
HC was led by Ronny Perry and had a number of other very good players including Garry Witts and Bobby Kelly. No tickets were to be had. Given that this was a can't miss event, a friend and I reached out to head trainer Jack Scott to let us in the back door. He told us to get there no later than 5:45pm for what I believe was the 7pm tap. Sure enough, we go in the back and Skitchie tells us to make ourselves scarce. We are walking down the hallway peeking in and out of a few doors when my friend says, "hey, check this out, this is the Buckeye locker room." Being the inquisitive types and knowing the Buckeyes were out in the gym for the shootaround, we figure we will pop our heads in and see what we see. While doing that, we then hear the team coming down the hall. What to do? We can make a quick dash for it out the front door and run the risk of getting tossed or try to find the only haven inside the locker room. So we head for the showers and don't make a peep. For the next 30 minutes or so, we listen to Eldon Miller and his staff review the game plan.
Then wouldn't you know it, none other than Granville Waiters himself goes moseying about the space and just so happens to pop his head into the communal shower area. I'll never forget him then turning back to the OSU team and staff and saying, "Hey coach, we got a couple of white dudes back here." In a split second, one of the assistants comes back and confronts us with the standard, "Wtf are you guys doing here." Pleading innocence we stated quickly how the game was an SRO and we just wanted to watch what was sure to be a great game and then we bolted out there.
The game was in fact a great game. HC ended up losing by about 8 but I will also never forget Bobby Kelly going in and throwing down a two handed slam right before half to send the Cross off at halftime up by a point or so. The place rocked.
A great memory and welcome to college.

Our best defense is a good offense. Spreading the ball around and mixing things up. Geoff Wade has done a good job protecting the ball and displaying real poise under pressure.

To say that no one cares about HC Football is an insulting comment not worth dignifying with a response.
There are many hundreds of alums who support the program in countless ways and given the depth of their support will continue to do so long into the future. These individuals are true and loyal Crusaders through and through. In the conversations and engagement I have with all of these alums, the topic of this board and the exchanges that go on here hardly ever comes up or if it does it is merely in passing.
I will tell you who does care about Holy Cross Football. Ed Murphy class of 1942, inaugural inductee into the Ring of Honor and captain of the team that beat BC 55-12. I had a fabulous chat with him and his son (Dave Murphy's brother '82) as they took their seats yesterday amidst the driving rainstorm that swept Fitton Field for the first half.
Ed Murphy, 95 years of age, cares.

This message just went out to the Friends of Crusader Football family. Given the passion of those who frequent these parts, I welcome sharing it here as well: Fellow Crusaders, October 15, 2016 was as close to perfection as all those who count themselves as part of the extended Crusader Football Family might ever experience. Let's count the reasons and enjoy the following photos: 1. Crisp fall day on the most beautiful campus in America. 2. A walk down memory lane with Ring of Honor inductees Jack Lentz' 67 and Glenn Verrette '80. Jack regaled those in attendance with memories of playing high school ball in Baltimore for Crusader graduate Tracy Mehr '54. Glenn reminisced about the HC games beating Air Force, Army, and Boston College when his teammate/classmate Tony Rocchio '80 gave BC tight end Tim Sherwin just enough of a bump to allow Glenn to go horizontal in batting down a 2 point conversion and secure the Cross' victory over BC 30-29. During the tailgate, I especially enjoyed hearing from Jack Lentz as to how he called an audible strictly between him and Pete Kimener on the game winning TD pass against BC. jack said the situation was 3rd and 5 or so with 35 seconds left when the Cross had the ball at the BC 30. He said when he came to the line he could see that the BC defense was positioned expecting him to run. He shouted to Pete (I believe the term was "daylight") who had single coverage and the rest as they say is history. 3. The company and camaraderie of great friends across a 90+ year time frame. Yes, look below at the photos of the legend himself Ed Murphy Class of 1942 in front of his Ring of Honor photo with 4 generations of his fabulous family. 4. A fabulous football game in which our Crusaders came out on top 27-17 against Harvard under the poised leadership of sophomore QB Geoff Wade, the coming out party of lightning fast freshman RB Domenic Cozier, a stalwart team effort on defense, and very solid kicking game all of which came together to shut out the Crimson in the 2nd half. 5. On the ride home and reflecting on this perfect day, I appreciated once again how special the Holy Cross Football Family and Holy Cross community truly are. Then I refocused and realized we can't afford to get distracted . . . BEAT LEHIGH!!
Let's Win!!Photos (hyperlink): Ed Murphy '42 and son, granddaughter and great grandchildren; Jack Lentz '67 and teammates/classmates Pete Kimener, John Sindoni, and Tom Haley; Jack Lentz and Glenn Verrette '80 with Iggy; Jack Lentz, son Mark and grandson; Billy Wright, Larry Ewald, John Allard, Peter George, Glenn Verrette, Curt Bletzer, Craig Cerretani, and John Ahern; Jack Lentz and a host of teammates and classmates. A few further comments: >>I want to publicly acknowledge and thank those on campus who made yesterday so special. Nate Pine is doing incredible things as our AD in terms of creating the culture and environment around Holy Cross Athletics that breeds winning. (To wit, aside from the Crusader victory over Harvard, the men's ice hockey team knocked off #11 ranked Providence Friars last night 2-1 in overtime.) I also want to thank Joe Bertoletti, Charles Bare, Heather Palmer, Luke Melody, and Jamie Reynolds for making yesterday a truly memorable day. THANK YOU all for caring so much. On behalf of all the Friends of Crusader Football, we are truly grateful. >>Have you made plans to be with countless other Friends of Crusader Football in New York City the weekend of November 12 when the Purple take on the Fordham Rams at Yankee Stadium? Don't Miss it . . Details here >>Calling All Crusaders: we are always looking to expand the footprint and impact of the Friends of Crusader Football. Please get involved by coming to a game, an event (the NYC weekend above), a reception, and make a gift to the Crusaders Athletics Fund/Gridiron Club. Thanks very much. Major props to Geoff Wade for yesterday's performance. He made some throws that were truly outstanding but even more impressive was his poise and game management. No turnovers.
Yesterday was a gut check and our men responded. Next week is another gut check. The confidence that came out of yesterday's game is meaningful.

rickii . . . It looked better in person. I was blown away by how great the entire place looked. The red seagrass inside the fence by the open endzone also made for a nice touch.
Disappointing that we are talking about the stadium instead of the play on the field. MAJOR gut check time. We are at the point where leaders need to step up.
Back to the matter at hand, please register for the Ring of Honor program and festivities and share the registration link above with your friends/classmates/teammates.
