I recall seeing you at the game in Durham which was in 2011 I believe. The visitors stands ran all of twenty rows and I believe we were near each other right in or near the top row. Ryan had a great game. We tied the game with about 3 minutes left and then UNH QB Kevin Decker (CAA player of the year that year) hit a receiver on a bomb to go ahead. A painful loss but a great game.
Next year not so much.

Actually the game at UNH which was a back and forth affair had Ryan Taggart at QB. The next time we played UNH was under the lights at Fitton and the Wildcats handled the Cross fairly easily. I believe Kevin Watson played that game.

I keep coming back to games at this level are won and lost by the following:
-experience and especially senior leadership -quality depth .. . -a few special playmakers . . . with overall talent levels very close at this level, the team with those few special players have a real advantage -turnovers -penalties (impacted by discipline and conditioning and also largely a function of depth)
A few years back I looked at a composite of Patriot League results over a protracted period and the differential between Ws and Ls was 3.5 points.
Hopefully Brendan Flaherty has nothing seriously wrong. The defense seems to have made some adjustments at halftime and held MS to about 140 yards in 2nd half. The kicking game looks very solid with Zane Wasp and AJ Wells. The O appears to have plenty of depth with a number of playmakers.
Plenty of reason for optimism. Games like next weekend are the ones where you want to see the senior leadership on display.
Let's Win!!

Sked is getting amped up in anticipation of a conference upgrade. We know that H.C.'s and H.E.'s decision, at the very least, won't be happening anytime soon. Want to give everyone an announcement date...how about a year ? A year? Really? If you are willing to make that an official over/under line, I would welcome taking the under for a social wager.

Under the heading of "The life of a Division 1 student-athlete" CTG reported that there are 81 Crusaders on campus this summer. A significant number of them rise and shine at 5am for 5:45am lifts prior to heading off to their summer internships many of which are located in or just outside of Boston. The men return to campus and regularly scheduled 7pm drills including 7 on 7 work.
The start of camp on August 7th may actually be a bit of a break from that routine.

We also stated that we have changed the name of the day to the Friends of Crusader Football Annual Meeting/Golf Outing so that everybody in attendance are de facto shareholders in the operation. Given that equity stake, we remarked that we effectively 'own' the program. As such, we stated that ownership comes with an obligation to continually improve the operation so that we can pass it on to future generations of shareholders in better condition, thus driving the brand value and multiple in the process. A quick voice vote elicited a strong vote of confidence in the executive management which is why we felt comfortable and confident in extending their contracts. It was all very well received with everybody appreciating that it was stated largely but not completely in jest.

At the Friends of Crusader Football outing this past Monday, we informed both Nate and Tracy Barlok, the head of Development, that their contracts have been extended for ten years. That announcement was met with a rousing round of applause.

Looking forward to being with 125 Friends of Crusader Football this coming Monday for what will assuredly be a fabulous day and night for HC Football when we have our annual golf outing. Crusaders covering a 50 year time frame (from the early '60s to current) will be playing to win in support of the program.
Aside from those playing golf, we have a fabulous list of sponsors and items for silent and live auction including a photo of Fitton Field in November 1986 when filled to near capacity for the HC-BC game. Will have a special treat with former Coach Frank Novak joining us along with members of the current staff and team.
Thanks to all these 'who's who' of Crusaders for 'bleeding Purple'.

I regret to inform those who frequent these parts that we recently lost two other great Crusaders. Jesse Loubier '06 died tragically over the weekend in a boating accident. John Trimbach '77 went to that great gridiron in the sky after succumbing to cancer. Details and their obits are on our Friends of Crusader Football Facebook page May they both rest in eternal peace and may their friends and families find peace and solace in the lives they lived and those whom they impacted.

My immediate focus will be on the defensive side of the ball. Hoping we get into and out of camp healthy. Will certainly be good to have 5th year seniors Ryan Smith, Dewayne Cameron, and Steven Martinez strapping it on and providing experience and leadership to the D. A quick check of the roster and pleased to see D-tackles Jack Kutschke listed at 280 and Neil Vorster at 294.

Major props to all involved from administration to the student-athletes.
And to give special props where they are due, Kenny Acquah and Dabness Atkins both contributed at a level that admits them to the President's Council. Now that is what I call stepping up. I have had the pleasure of getting to know both and they are truly special young men.

For starters . . . and just one man's opinion given that the selections are made by the full committee.
Lou Kobza, Glenn Grieco, Steve Raquet, Jerome Fuller, Eddie O' Melia, Mark Duffner, Dr. Eddie Anderson, . . .
I think we might be at this for a while.
Great way to celebrate the fabulous tradition of Crusader Football.

His idealized version of America is the America of the deep rural South of the 1950's and 1960's.

STRONG . . . really strong!! I wish graduates of every school might hear this message in which he embraces the tenets of duty, honor, country that seem to have been lost amidst a sea of entitlement.
"Do not hide your faith or your beliefs beneath a bushel basket especially in this world that seems to have gone mad with political correctness."
The clip runs 35 minutes and is worth every second.
Proud that Clarence Thomas is a Crusader.

As a reminder, the voting for this year's Ring of Honor ends on May 16th.
Great to see this celebration of tradition growing and resonating. Fitton keeps looking better and better with the names of all these greats prominently displayed.

Sons, I think you are misremembering as the 4th qtr comeback was against Bryant. The Crusaders spanked Albany last year 37-0 to get the payback for the brutal loss in 2014. But I get your point and appreciate the positive approach and optimistic outlook.
Let's Win!!
