Guessing all white with the polished purple helmets....although I'd prefer the purple pants. That would look sharper on HD TV.
I believe UConn has thankfully ditched the dog face helmets in favor of a more traditional look.

Optical Illusion ?
pp ( or anyone ) -
Just noticed the long side roof line of the 'barn' seems to angle down toward the soccer stadium end and the roof line over the sports performance area seems to do the same over toward the 'grand staircase' where it appears to then angle up a bit.
Is this on purpose or is it an illusion based on camera lens or something ? It is on purpose. There's some strange geometry in that building. The explanation I came up with for the indoor practice facility is that the gutter drains flow toward the soccer field. I think the downspouts connect directly to concrete stormwater retention cells now buried under dirt. These cells are between about the 20 and 50 yard lines on the south end, and outside. As for the west end of sports performance sloping up, I think that is acting like an aerodynamic foil. Looking at the webcam, most of what I believe are bags of crumb rubber are now inside. As for what looks like rolled up carpet, I am wondering now if this is padding for the walls. So the interior roof elevation is much lower in one endzone ? Very odd.
Those remaining stacked bags outside being wall padding makes sense.

I'd be surprised, pleasantly, if Holy Cross got $250,000. Doing the math, tickets are selling for $20 apiece. That translates into 12,500 additional fans to cover the cost of a $250K payout (excluding concessions, parking, souvenirs, etc.) but many HC fans are probably going to the Holy Cross tailgate which should net UConn $0. Considering HC is so close and the probable desire for HC to start upgrading the schedule to play D-IA schools and the fact that UConn is not very good at their level (and will be getting their own guarantee pay game vs. Clemson of $1.2 million in 2021), we don't have a lot of leverage IMHO for a big payout. Offsetting this is UConn's probable thirst for an "easy" victory to start off their season.
One of the better articles on this subject.
Not surprised by the payouts but didn't know about this....
Stony Brookâs two other non-conference games this season are at home against Wagner and Sacred Heart. Stony Brook is paying Wagner $100,000 and Sacred Heart $90,000 to play,

Pretty sure they have all "been there, done that" already. A bunch of kids got a broad look see about a month ago. The turf got installed 48 hours ago....let them see the finished product first.

And the turf looks terrific !!

there is a middle ground between Sacred Heart, Fairly Ridiculous, and UNC, Duke!!! I usually agree with you on all things nht but given the make-up of the team this year, a 1-year lack of money games is ok with me. Aside from that, I'm totally against playing FDU or NJIT ANYWHERE !

Guess you don't like the one on the side of Figge (just visible in lower left corner of the web cam shot) or on the side of Hogan as you approach from College St. or the large crosses raised in the concrete on either side of the entrance to Haberlin or ... For Pete's sake, it's a Catholic college named Holy Cross. Is the cross on the top of the chapel OK?
All true but, and correct me if I'm wrong, Hart Center never has had a cross on it's exterior nor has Fitton Field stadium, the baseball stadium or the newer soccer/t&f bleachers. These are athletic venues.
Couple weeks ago I mentioned what I logically assumed would be affixed to that wall....a large illuminated interlocking HC....akin to our football helmet decals....part of our renewed 'branding' initiative.
Disappointed.

Lights would be nice for about 2-3 games per year -- renting them for a game or two per year is perfectly fine. No one wants to sit on aluminum bleachers for a night game in October / November when it's below 45 degrees. So bring a towel to sit on! I think an argument can be made that even 2-3 football games per year would be worth it. However, combining that with other opportunities to generate additional revenue (pretty good venue for an outdoor concert, no?), and it could become an excellent asset. And games don't even need to start at 7:00 PM - moving back to 3:30 or 4:00 would give families an opportunity to attend games after soccer, football, etc.games that typically consume Saturdays in the fall, provide a better tailgating experience for those traveling from beyond the Worcester area, increase student attendance ( "Start drinking early" -TB12) and provide a tremendous atmosphere for a game on a Saturday afternoon in the Fall. bbc -
Funny you should mention this....
Just learned that Wake hosted a Guns & Roses concert last Friday night within it's football stadium ( capacity 35,000 ). 'Announced' crowd was 27,000. TTBOMK, this is a first-time for a concert at the stadium.
Now, a couple points of comparison with Fitton....
Wake has an 'athletic campus' located about one-half mile from it's main campus for some of its teams ( football stadium, basketball arena, baseball stadium, indoor/outdoor tennis facility ).
The football stadium has permanent lights plus adjacent large parking lots with lights.
The playing surface is some sort of advanced FieldTurf that may or may not have been covered/protected from patrons who had field level tix ( looked like maybe 3-4,000 ). Potential for damage I would think.
As we all know, parking at/around Fitton is limited. Plus, rainey weather pre concert would make Freshman Field a muddy mess. And even renting huge tarps for field seating. our new grass would take a beating. Oh and how would field level tix holders find a rest room....couple dozen potty ports in the endzone ? In addition to the stadium, permanent lighting would needed on FF.
In sum, logistics don't work IMO.

TPTB have no interest in an HC HE deal
Who/which powers ?
No deal if DCU is available 24/7
Sorry I don't understand.
No money for a financial and logistical boondoggle
I'm not totally sold on the finances being substantially more costly in HE/DCU versus where HC Men's hockey is now. And logistically, wouldn't there be a substantial savings in travel costs ? Seems clear to me that any monies would be better expenced in HE with increased media exposure thoughout the northeast and somewhat nationally aiding the BOT desire of increasing the HC brand.

Did I miss something? I thought HE was still in play. It is. Just would have been a done deal to start this season if the owner of the ferkakta R*ilers didn't put up a stink, or the desperate Centrum didn't sell its soul to their owner by essentially letting him draft his own agreement.
There's a reason why HE is playing w/11 schools this season, and it's not because no other school wanted in. ACTP -
I dunno.... this guy has out-gunned HC with his bucks and pr savvy at every turn and I'd bet he parlayed a 'right of first refusal' clause in his deal with the DCU.

Gilmore was an outstanding DL at Penn, was a D Coordinator at Dartmouth, a very successful D coach at Lehigh. Why hasn't his sterling background in D led to D distinction over his years at HC? He was a superb DC at Lehigh. He coached from the sideline. He was a phenominal motivator. Fun to watch his antics during games. The roster disparity is very unusual. From the outside I have no explanation. Virtually all rosters have some disparity towards the O but the difference is not more than 4 or 5. The impact tho is more on STs. Rate in PL to see more than a few players get PT on D above the 2 deep. STs on KOs are mostly a mix of a few O and mostly D 2s. Coen has a tendency to play a lot of 1s on P and KO teams. The caveat is he rotates a lot of players on all 3 teams.37 kids on D is ridiculously low....and I included 2 punters on that side of the ledger ! Obviously over 11-12 games kids get dinged-up or worse, miss practice/games while some ( frosh ) just aren't ready to see the field yet. Add that up and you run out of usable depth fast with staters getting gassed. What really bothers me is the last 2 recruit classes. How can Gilmore have only landed 14 defensive players....TOTAL ?
Pine must see this....hopefully.

Our 6 verbals to date include 1 DL, 1 LB, 1 DB, 1 ATH (whom I speculate will end up as a DB), 1 OL, and 1 WR. I am currently at work and have my offer list at home. I can respond to your other inquiry later. If I remember correctly, I believe that currently we have 111 offers -- 6 commitments, 51 who have committed to other schools, and 54 who remain uncommitted. Thanks again.
Primary reason I'm asking is - by my count - of the 90 kids on our roster, 53 are on Offense and 37 on Defense. Plus in the last 2 recruiting classes we have a combined 27 kids on Offense and only 14 playing Defense. I perused a couple other PL rosters as well as a couple big-boy rosters and didn't find such a glaring roster Imbalance. The obvious question is why/how has this happened ? Got to be a factor as to why we've been so porous on D of late....lacking depth.
