Wonder if we helped the reputation of the conference for future PL Championship teams.

I'm reading far too much negativity and complaining on this board this afternoon. I think the way we came out and defended Clark, we realized there was a chance. Poor shooting, poor officiating, nd turnovers doomed us. Yes it's great for the College we're on national TV but no moral victories for me. You play to win the game

Announcers now talking about Iowa's next game (in the 3rd quarter). They are making a mockery of professional standards of even handed coverage. They are like a home team broadcast crew on a local station. also a shame that the women don't play at neutral regional sites. I've coached plenty of hockey and baseball games at our rivals and I do think everything from a home crowd to officiating sways the game.

Clark hit herself in the head with a ball she's so frustrated

So what would all of our armchair coaches do at halftime for adjustments?

Excellent 3 from Clark but a missed hit to the head before the shot

Just about any contact to the face will now be upgraderd to an intentional #1 at the very least soft as soccer refs

That was not an intentional foul. Foul perhaps but not intentional

Let's limit the open looks around the perimeter. Great job inside the paint on D. UT seems decent defending inside. Forcing outside looks

First Four in Dayton was a blast 6 years ago. (Feels like just yesterday we played Southern and then had our baseball lads out in Corvalis playing in the regionals). Any Crossports posters out in Iowa City for the game tomorrow?

That was a heck of a play behind the net. I totally thought the guy behind the net had it as well (I guess the Canisius goalie did too!).
Onto the Semis!

Yes live stats have not updated. Too bad this game isn't on tv.
Niagara taking down SHU is interesting. Purple Eagles playing well of late. Think they will be playing RIT next round.

I think the Ivies have risen from their "fall" in the 80s and 90s and possibly into the '00s. They were starting to get blown out by their in-state public school rivals nearly annually during that era. I think we beat Dartmouth something like 15 games in a row starting in 1978. In the last 10-15 years they have improved as they have been offering more aid etc than they did at the end of the 20th C. Would like to see them add an 11th game and become eligible for the FCS playoffs.....it would help raise FCS awareness in the Northeast imo. with their aid structure I think the top Ivies would win 1 or 2 games (especially with regionalization in the opening round) in the postseason. I wouldn't want to face Harvard in the playoffs! (Unless it was last year and a revenge game!)

At the game. Jordan Fuller walking across the ice in between periods helping with the set up of the nets. He is working the Canisius box right now

I used to subscribe to Flo for AHA. The first year I subscribed to Flo, it was only AHA regular season and I couldn't watch other conferences/sports. The following year it changed and I was able to watch some games. Overall the cameras, scoreboards, and feed stunk. I would say it was a half a step up from Stadium.
They should re-negotiate with ESPN+. It has been great watching women's games on ESPN+ and NESN, but I wish the men's games were on the same platform.

Pitching didn't hold up and we did not add-on any runs, resulting in 7-4 loss both teams had 8 hits and no errors We're competitive against schollie programs. And...we'll have another Big West opponent next weekend in UC Riverside. Good to see we are gaining exposure out West as well. I believe we've had a small, but not insubstantial amount of players from California and the Western US. I feel like when I started at HC, Najarian was the head coach and we were not playing that difficult of a non-conference schedule. I want to say Ryder and Stetsons of the world. DiCenzo brought us to Cali, to LSU, Mississippi State, and A&M. Glad to see us getting back to a solid non-conference schedule. Nonetheless, we still need to win in the PL.

I think the biggest factor is quality recruiting. Riga was the recruiting coordinator at Q and had championship teams. Shows the importance of recruiting and the importance of quality assistant coaches. It's great to see many former players who not only understand the culture and academics at HC but have a passion for the game. It is too bad we don't see that on the women's side.
This next part is more spitballing here, but there are a lot of junior and prep players desperately trying to play D1 men's hockey. We have an established reputation and a heck of a workout facility. In terms of capacity, we aren't really far off for AHA teams. Of course Bentley and SHU opening new barns means a bit more pressure on us. I know more than a few guys who had dreams of playing for Hockey East teams or even making it to a team out West but even before juniors knew that goal was out of reach (unless they really lit it up in the BCHL or something) but the goal of D1 hockey in AHA was still alive. Bigger player pool I suppose.
One other note...Meredith Roth is a great coach and a good offensive mind. Although she was a D3 coach previously, she was a head coach. Can't underestimate that loss. HCKL has an excellent defensive system but her teams have consistently struggled to generate shots and scoring chances. It is important as a coach to know your strengths and challenges and surround yourself with assistants who balance you out.
