We are in uncharted territory. The annual Turpike Trophy standings: 2015-16 BU 20-4 2016-17 BU 21-1 2017-18 BU 21-4 2018-19 BU 21-3 2019-20 BU 14-2 2020-21 Covid 2021-22 BU 17-14 2022-23 BU 12-8 2023-24 BU 5-4 After the opening game of the twinbill HC is within a game and could tie it up tonight. Pine's Folly could actually bear fruit under Kit. part of the issue must be football. BU is undefeated going on nearly 20 years!

Dropped passes, a woefully underthrown (like 20 yards) flea-flicker by Goff, and Campbell going for it instead of taking 3 points, twice! All adds up to an epic 49ers win.
Too bad we can't see Kalif in the Super Bowl. Going to be a heck of a game with the Chiefs and Niners.

3rd quarter adjustments by SF and typical Goff throws are killing the Lions

A sweep of BU coming off their L in the Beanpot final. Hopefully can build on this momentum, something we haven't really accomplished since joining D1

Spence to JMU. Don't see it on Twitter yet. Posted on Instagram, but I am not sure how to attach it here.

Another series against SHU late in February at a crucial time and a series vs. Air Force. Those will be crucial in determining where we will likely be playing our first round playoff series.

We are now tied with AIC for 4th place but only 1 point behind 3rd place Air Force. Two out in beautiful Erie next weekend against the 9th place Lakers.

Good for Luke. Going home to play for the Spartans who are in the middle of a re-build. Looking forward to watching him next year

Just noticed Dylan Laube playing in the Senior Bowl on Sat. Feb 3rd. Quite the accomplishment. It will be interesting to see how he is used and how he stacks up with the best of FBS out there.

3-1 PC in the 3rd. Some opportunities lately for the Saders but not a heck of a lot going on offensively. Crash the net and hope to bang it in type plays.

Holy Cross ranks 38/44 in the NPI (similar to RPI) and 38 in the Pairwise. Most of the NEWHA league is below them with the exception of LIU (15-8) at 24, St. Anselm (13-9-1) at 34 and Franklin Pierce (11-12-3) at 37. Honestly could probably beat both of those (in close games). A few CHA are also in the vicinity as well as Harvard and Dartmouth. We could be in the NEWHA, wining some more games and being around the same ranking.
I would be stunned if HC wasn't the least funded Hockey East women's program. I would imagine that's why Roth went to Harvard to help a first year coach turn around the Crimson offense. I think the recruiting and coaching has held us back for the last few years. I sat next to the inimitable and wise Peter Van Buskirk a few years ago at a hockey event and talked coaching/recruiting, particularly for New England prep schools. I think he was one of a kind. I also think we are getting back to recruiting Canadian players the last few seasons and it seems to be helping a tad (Madison Beck has been nothing short of spectacular for us in net).
In conference we have a GF/GA 1.1/2.9. The offense under HCKL has been truly anemic. Out of conference the GF/GA is 1.8/2.7. I do think recruiting has something to do with it in terms of depth scoring (our top line can score but, how do our 2, 3, and 4th lines match up with our HE teams) but I also think the coaching style plays a role. We look like the early 2000s NJ Devils with our neutral zone play and collapsing in the defensive zone.
Look at the success of Vegas and Seattle with less than superstars. I top line that is good but not great in terms of relative comparison, a 2nd line as good as any, and 3rd and 4th line better than most. Their depth is really where they can win games. They play a fast style that gets to the puck quickly and pressures opposing D. Forces turnovers and it doesn't take a heck of a lot of skill to bang in some of the turnovers in front of the net.

I think there is a happy medium between following and cheering along for Chesney as well as staying dialed in on our current team.
This past year, we had one thread for HC grad transfers to follow their seasons with updated stats and tweets. To me, that is sufficient, but I do not oppose someone posting a thread next year (one single thread not 60 different ones for each game I guess) about JMU's season. I will follow along and wish the best for him, Matt, and all of our transfers playing at the FBS level next season.
Chu Chu, I was surprised how few coaches he pulled in from other FBS programs. Either it is a feather in HC's cap for having such a strong coaching staff/coaching tree or a potential knock on the desirability of a current FBS coach to move to JMU.

I don’t believe any transfers are coming to Holy Cross. Classes start for the students on Monday. First team meeting is Tuesday Jan 23rd. That is one thing I got from Curran's messaging throughout this process--focused on recruiting HS athletes right now especially with the timeframe they were working in.

Of note, FAHC Meredith Roth won a gold today with the USA U-18 team. We lost a good one in the offseason. Might also explain our lackluster offensive output.

Announcer said Grande was not on the bench. Great job by Gale Had a few games where he was supposedly back healthy and not dressing but his stats read 12 Games, 12 Games Started out of 25 total contests.

Geographically, the America East football model makes more sense than the PL and an expanded PL with W&M, Richmond, and Nova. That being said, I like the quality of the football programs at those three places more than the majority of the proposed AE list. I like, however, furthering our Hockey East connections with schools like UNH, Maine, and Merrimack.
How about the northern CAA teams plus W&M, Richmond, Nova? Merrimack?
If I had my druthers, I would play Maine over Bucky, Georgetown, and Lehigh, but the Black Bears have been rebuilding recently also.
Sorry to SBU and SHU you don't make the cut (although I could swap SHU for Bryant I suppose). Football only here: 1. Holy Cross 2. Bryant 3. Maine 4. Merrimack 5. UNH 6. URI
1. Albany 2. Colgate 3. Fordham 4. Richmond 5. W&M 6. Villanova

Highlight play of the game. Unreal one handed diving catch back of the endzone. The tv coverage is doing a good job spotlighting Jalen after that catch. Good job by the Ole Miss QB dropping it in over the two defenders.
