As in their other three D1 wins this year, HC held its opponent to under 40% from the field today.

After a big game vs. AU, BPC has disappeared. One shot in two quarters.

We beat Bucknell when the Bison, typically a good three point shooting team, had a woeful 2-19 night. We beat Navy when we, typically a weak to average three point shooting team, had an outstanding night. Of course, there were many other factors to consider that contributed to the two nice wins, but three point shooting and defense will be important today. Kind of obvious, but important. Defensive EFG% has been an identical 38.3% in the first two PL games. Only other time it has been under 40% was against CCSU.

Maybe that's good news.
Our last two Freshman of the Year awards (Pridgen and Luc) both promptly transferred.
And, arguably R.J. Johnson should have been RoY in-between. And he left.
Since Tim Szatko, Holy Cross has had four other RoYs - Nate Lufkin (01-02), Pat Doherty (04-05), RJ (08-09) and Justin Burrell (11-12), none of whom ever made an all-PL team.

Lex Therien is averaging a double double this year. HC doesn't have a player averaging as much many as her in points or rebounds.

And Father McFarland has a better chance getting the head coaching job after being hit by lightning than Daigneault has of becoming the coach here after winning the lottery . . . or something like that.

Assumption is 4-6.
Locally, Chris Bartley has been good forever at WPI. Currently 8-1, ranked 14th.

At the holiday break, here's how some other guys who should be getting phone calls are faring this year.
Andy Sachs (Chesapeake CC), 9-3. John Krikorian (Christopher Newport), 11-2 (currently ranked 7th in D3) Landry Kosmalski (Swarthmore), 8-1 (ranked 24th) Josh Loeffler (Johns Hopkins), 6-2 (ranked 17th)

Paulsen was a terrific recruiter: Mike Muscala, Bryson Johnson, Cam Ayers, Steve Kaspar, Chris Hass, Nana Foulland, Zach Thomas, Stephen Brown - multiple PoY and 1st team All-PL guys. Believe Bison 137 (and others) became disenchanted with his in-game management skills. Statistically, at least, Paulsen's teams were very good defensively and on the defensive boards in their peak years. Opponent EFG%, D1 Rank 2010-11, 23rd 2011-12, 50th 2012-13, 4th 2013-14, 105th
Defensive Rebound %, D1 Rank

Why can't we get coaches like Joe Scott? We have. He's finished 10th in the Mountain West the last two years, 16-38 overall and 7-30 in conference.
There are 363 teams in D1. Air Force's strength of schedule this year ranks 362nd. Playing 10 of 13 games at homes against the likes of Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas Pine-Bluff can create the illusion of adequacy.

Even FHCSK won a road non-conference game in his lone season. Nelson is now 0-17. 1-10 this year in the OOC against perhaps our weakest D1 schedule ever (324th).

Eastern Illinois checks in at KenPom #348, just a couple notches ahead of HC, now 2-9.
The Iowa board provides a little amusement, midway in or so.

Without commenting on Crean, but hiring anyone with D-I head coaching experience will mean hiring someone who has been fired. So maybe hire somebody with non-D1 head coaching experience.

Crean's background is such that he would quickly understand HC. What background is that? He's never played or coached in a high-academic environment.
There's another branch of the RW tree that understands HC.
