I have seen video boards mentioned twice. I know these are quite expensive. Why do you think this matters? (Or do you?)
Is this something prospective recruits talk about? Could it be that there is also an appeal some see in being retro?

Dr Fauci:
" I still think in terms of the total human being as well as civilizations and the impact of disease on civilizations."
BINGO!

Not so sure about that. they have chosen Hitler, Stalin, Ayatollah Khomeini Meaning what, exactly? They have also chosen Trump in the past, as well, and he is again a finalist. Time Magazine's Person of the Year is not an endorsement. Rather, it is their opinion about who has had the most impact in the year gone by.

It was interesting to learn that he was on the staff of "The Purple" and in that capacity, got to have lunch with Robert Frost.

When I came to this discussion today it was discouraging to me to see the initial, reactionary comments, where people felt attacked. I am a white guy who attended Holy Cross 50 years ago, at the time when the BSU was just being formed. I have learned that what I really need to do is listen and try to understand. It has helped me to grow. To say that a country or institution is racist is not to say that they are intentionally acting to harm. Rather, it means that the structure and legacy of that country or institution is perpetuating harm in some way, and we may be oblivious to how others are harmed. That is why we need to listen to those affected to in order to understand how they are affected and why they see things as problematic. This is why thought leaders like Ibram Kendi tell us that you're either anti-racist or racist. Either we we listen and try to make common cause to change the structure and legacy perpetuating racism (anti-racist), or we allow it to continue (racist).
This is not a time to feel guilty or attacked. Rather, it is a time to grow and understand. I appreciate the article and the good people at Holy Cross who are in dialog about this.

We lost our rival BC, and Colgate lost their rival Syracuse. We are well matched to be sports rivals, and I would like to it it develop!

WH's supposed Corona expert, Dr. Scott Atlas, criticized Michigan Governor Whitmer's steps to control the virus and advised Michiganders' to "rise up" against her protocols (whatever that means). Dr. Fauci, it turn, stated that "he totally disagrees with the stand that he (Atlas) takes". During the 1918 Flu pandemic, there was no vaccine, and we went with the "herd immunity" paradigm similar to what is now advocated by Atlas. 50 million people died, at a time when the population of the United States was about 100 million. That, in a nutshell, is why it is so important to follow Dr. Fauci's advice now, until we have the vaccine available and in use.

This was a great read, and I learned a lot. I like the idea of adding Hampton and Howard, along with Bill and Mary, and having the two divisions!

His father, also a Holy cross grad, was an excellent and beloved Governor. Are the phrases "Holy Cross grad" and "excellent and beloved" redundant? Why, yes they are! Thanks for your correction!

Wow, how much fun was that!! I just watched on YouTube. This era of HC Football was obscure to me, since I was deep in medical school and oblivious. This game was really fun to watch, The two scores we went for with 4th and goal at the one were epic! The interceptions! Peter Columbo was incredible. Brian Dougherty and Larry Ewald were immense with their running. I haven't seen many HC games where we had such a good running attack, and strong O line. Coach Neal Wheelwright seemed to have ice water in his veins with those calls to go for it at the goal line. And, to top it all off, a much younger "Mr Entertainment" seemed to have his real hair under that chapeau !

This news makes me seriously wonder about the competence of and question the strategy of our financial investment team. My Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund is up 9.3% YTD and 21.2% over the last 12 months.

According to Fr. K's book, Kimball was started in August 1933. So I checked the first edition of the Tomahawk after that, October 3, 1933. There is a story on the new dining hall on page 5 which in part reads So I imagine the stack at least provided a lot of hot water for the laundry, but based on the height of that stack a steam plant for the college (or even just Alumni & Carlin) makes sense. But if it was for a steam plant, it would have been replaced when Kimball was built. See page 5 here for the full story on the start of construction on Kimball college.holycross.edu/departments/archives/exhibits/crusader/crusader_pages/1920s-1930s/10-03-1933.pdfInteresting paper! I was fascinated to learn that Father Dolan, the new President of Holy Cross, was chosen by the Father General of the Society of Jesus in Rome, not by the college Board of Directors (if there was one). My, how times have changed in 90 years.
