HC Mullaney- Lakers Cousy- Royals Heinsohn- Celtics 1969-71 Well done, hoops.Only took 3 minutes! I have fun with HC trivia like this because most people who do not frequent this board, even in our age range, cannot answer the questions!

I got one for ya!
What New England NCAA Basketball Powerhouse had 3 alumni leading NBA teams as the head coach at the same time?
Extra credit: 1.) name the coaches and teams. 2.) Name the years.

No, no, NO 92; the woke Crossporters will object. Subsequently birthed brother is gender limiting; just STOP! Perhaps subsequently birthed sibling. Your outdated, patriarchal, euro-centric language sickens me Page Professor Liew STAT Who wrote this, and what ever happened to Teamer?

As noted, the data demonstrate that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, a one-shot vaccine, is 100% effective against hospitalization & deaths! That is what we really care about, and that IS a huge deal.

There are multiple colleges named Concordia scattered throughout the US., the most notable probably being the one in Minnesota. All of them are Lutheran.

It seems that I can't read a news article about marketing or sales or consumer quality without seeing the name "JD Power and Associates". He was a pioneer, and his brand is incredibly well known! For this reason, I am quite surprised that I have not seen more in the media about his passing. Specifically, I thought that I would see obits or articles in the New York Times or Wall Street Journal.

Every now and then, you run across an remarkable obit. Given Bill’s HC connection, I think some may find it interesting, especially his landing a plane on the football fields. I didn’t know him or his prominent family from a town over. Perhaps some here remember him. www.rep-am.com/obituaries/2021/01/23/william-danaher/I was really touched by this. Sounds like a truly great man. His experience brings up the danger of the alcohol culture in college, where many people are first exposed to drink, without knowing if they are one of the people who will be uniquely susceptible to becoming an alcoholic.

In my opinion, there needs to be a large federal program to administer the vaccine in special distribution centers, using the National Guard, in addition to these local efforts. The scale of the administration needed is massive and daunting. It sounds like that is where the new administration is going.

My wife is in her 70s (therefore a senior) and is a stroke survivor. She and I are in the top category (1b I believe). She has been unable to schedule the vaccine despite regular attempts for two weeks now. I got an appointment, but I was told it was probably a mistake. That is NJ for you. Same everywhere, rgs. The problem is that the release of vaccine from the federal supplies has not been happening as needed. I heard a rumor that there is a recent change in leadership that will improve things!

I am VERY impressed by how Coach Nelson and staff have learned and adjusted in both of our two game series thus far. After yesterday, I was a bit uncertain we could achieve another split, but we did! I see good things for these guys and I am glad I went ahead and paid for ESPN+ !

It is an unusual opportunity to play the same team consecutively in such a short period of time. I will be interested to see what adjustments Coach Nelson makes, based on our experience.

What does Metuchen mean? I had no idea so I looked it up and found out that it is an oblique reference to princetoncrusader's post!
the name “Metuchen” is a 1720 letter stating that “MeTochen is called from ye name of ye chief of this place and meanth 'slowe-dog' for that chief is lame and goeth slowly.” However, this tiny borough in Middlesex County, NJ, also has a more cultured name than “slow dog”; the Brainy Borough.

I think that you are on to something here, but I don't think the proposals are big and bold enough! My two cents for what to do: 1.) Build on Dr Fauci's national fame as a trustworthy, brilliant and accomplished physician by endowing the Fauci Pre-Medical Scholars Program" 2.) Emphasize the historical and well known success of Holy Cross in sending exceptionally well qualified applicants to the nations finest medical schools who have gone on to great achievements. 3.) Award scholarships to identified, accepted students of financial need who indicate their desire to pursue studies to qualify for admission to medical school. 4.) Pursue support from our vast medical alumni network. I would be on board in a heart beat. 5.) "Think big"! Identify large capacity donors who want to honor Dr Fauci for his lifetime of dedication and achievement, that has culminated with his service in this current crisis. This should be a very large list, and include corporations and donors who have no prior history of gifts to Holy Cross. The pitch is to help identify and educate the next generation of dedicated scientist leaders in the mold of Dr Fauci, and extend opportunity to those who are not financially able, especially those who come from communities that were especially hard hit by COVID-19. #GoCrossGo

Chu, despite (or because?) Fr. McF spent time at Gonzaga, he had nothing but disdain for their basketball program. I have talked with Fr McFarland in the past about that. You are correct that he thought they had too much emphasis on their basketball program at Gonzaga, and that was not his vision for Holy Cross. But my God, what they have achieved is amazing. I used live in Spokane not far from the campus. The transformation of their physical plant, relationship to the community and ability to attract applicants is off the charts. Even Fr McFarland told me that after coming to Holy Cross he was impressed by how many people knew Gonzaga as a result of basketball that would otherwise have never heard of it.
My point previously is simply that there is no artificial limit imposed on us as to how well we can do or what we can achieve as a smaller school in a less prominent league. Those limits are in our mind. Basketball has always been one of the sports that serves up giant killers from time to time. I think that we should aspirate be one of them! I may be seeing the world through rose colored glasses, but I am anticipating a lot of improvement in the next few years. We have a good brand, we offer a world class education, wonderful facilities, a great new AD who has been augmenting our PR and media accessibility, and now a new coach who is getting to put his plan in place with guys he has recruited. Since we are a Div 1 school, and can go to the National Tournament, we should aspire to win the damn thing again!

It is possible to be a member of a less prominent league and still rise to national prominence and become a team that any of the big boys want to play. The current Number 1 team in the country, a small Jesuit school named Gonzaga, is just such a team. In the process, they have elevated the whole league. We should recruit and aspire to be the best! #GoCrossGo
