Took my first real close look at the schedule. Man, it's brutal. The "on paper" easiest 3 games don't come until the final 3 weeks of the season. Hope people are patient with Coach Curran.

I'll be happy if the kid can help out with defense and rebounding, areas where they really need to get better at.
General consensus seemed to be that he wasn't a D1 prospect coming out of hs......but that doesn't mean he isn't now.
Now, I know he won't, but if CDP ever wanted to throw Green in at pg for a few minutes, he could put a lineup out there where everyone was right around the same size (height wise, that is): Green, Warren, Richard, Feroah and Kenney.

DCU? I plead ignorance. What is the actual name? DCU stands for Digital Credit Union. digital equipment company (they didn't capitalize their name as I recall) is long gone but the credit union is still going strong. Lots of folks around these parts worked for "DEC" (pronounced Deck)

Hopefully he (Jaiden, not Romney) can move his feet on defense, and show the same rebounding ability he did at Green River. Being a 2 year commitment, not a huge risk. Maybe he is a late bloomer of sorts.

Are you applying for an assistant coach ? I will answer that 2 years from now.

Welcome Jaiden!
For me, he seems to check some of the boxes I had for the last recruit, based on what I said after the Gabe Warren commitment:
"And speaking of Townsel - thinking of him got me thinking about what I wouldn't mind seeing with this last recruit/transfer; maybe a 6-7/6-8 version of him; someone that doesn't have to be a big scorer, but can rebound and defend some, mix it up inside. I think that would complete the rest of the group nicely. IMO someone with 2 years eligibility would also be a best case scenario as well, as it will make the team a bit older (a bit on the young side right now), and it would help balance the classes a bit too."

I do want to say that I appreciate the work the mentors are doing with the players. Without them, who knows; maybe others would have bolted. Anything that helps with maintaining some sort of normalcy means a lot to me.

Honestly, I really have no clue about how it works, and I deliberately try to remain ignorant on all of the money stuff (not hard for me to do)....but it just feels like the non power schools have this giant toxic cloud of doom floating above them. I like Coach Paulsen and it older times I would be really pumped and jacked about the future....but that cloud just obliterates any sunshine. Just how I feel.

Good read, in some ways exonerates O'Malley, but by no means completely. www.goodreads.com/book/show/1491684.The_Dodgers_Move_WestOne preferred location for the Ebbets replacement would have been more or less where the Barclay Center stands, go figure. W/regard to the Braves Field question, the team played their last season in Boston 72 years ago. Do the math; any esteemed poster who saw a baseball game there would most likely be 80 or older. As far as seeing the stadium before demolition*, the Patriots played there in 1960,61 and 62; and Holy Cross played BU there in 1961. Odds are much greater that we have an eyewitness to one of those games. * there are approximately one quarter of the original stands still in use; the right field pavilion. My old Pony League manager, George Altison (RIP) founded the Boston Braves Historical Association: www.metrowestdailynews.com/story/sports/columns/2009/06/28/megliola-altison-leaves-brave-legacy/41325573007/

Ok, I'll share my little tale of woe.
In baseball, I was a decent youth player. In my town, back then there was the Pony League, for kids 13-15. In my last year I was a third basemen who shared pitching duties on a good team. Late in the year, as a pitcher I started struggling with my control; no clue why. Anyway, in the playoffs we get to the championship series, and in the deciding game I drive in what we were hoping would be the winning run in the top of the 10th inning.
Bottom of the inning, I had to take the mound to close things out (our starter had reached his max innings per league rules). In between 2 outs I loaded the bases with 2 walks and a hit batter. The other team and their fans were going crazy, yelling at me. Coach came out, but the only thing he could tell me was to treat it like a game of catch. Great. I proceeded to walk in the tying and winning runs. I think I threw my glove over the backstop as I walked off the field.
I went on to play in high school for a year, and Sr. Babe Ruth as well, but I could never pitch again. I came down with Steve Sax/Chuck Knobloch syndrome; I couldn't even play catch to warm up, or throw batting practice. To warm up I had to get whomever I was partnered up with to move far away from everyone else. I was able to play in the outfield at least, but that was it. I was just grateful it didn't happen on the high school team, because there were a few tools on that team that would not have been too kind to me.

I would think that at some point soon, both players and coaches will be motivated to make decisions (for players, where they want to be based on the offers they currently hold, and for coaches, what they want their final rosters to look like). I mean, at some point, it will almost become a giant game of chicken.

Good for Louth; hope he can stay healthy and does well there.. The top 3 seniors did pretty well for themselves, all things considered.

To be fair to the former coach, he also brought in that Gerale Gates fellow; wasn't too bad. Dorsey and Townsel, too. And speaking of Townsel - thinking of him got me thinking about what I wouldn't mind seeing with this last recruit/transfer; maybe a 6-7/6-8 version of him; someone that doesn't have to be a big scorer, but can rebound and defend some, mix it up inside. IMO someone with 2 years eligibility would also be a best case scenario as well, as it will make the team a bit older (a bit on the young side right now), and it would help balance the classes a bit too. That's not asking for too much, is it?

Welcome Gabe!
Kinda resembles a slightly larger Octave. So, the rising soph class loses Wills, adds Warren. Hoping it turns out to be an upgrade.
Roster is adding some length.....on the perimeter. Hoping for a nice final piece closer to the basket.

So we're basically going from the era where the bigs were dominated by "one and dones" to the entire 360+ schools in the same boat. Swell. It's almost like a 5,000 piece puzzle in a box - each year, 13 pieces are taken out by each school, hoping the pieces match. Then, after the end of the year, some pieces are discarded, some brand new pieces are added, then they are all thrown back into the box....and the process repeats.
