It now appears that Hatton's tweet about the opportunity to play football at Holy Cross has been deleted.

jsherman --
Go down to the thread entitled "2020 Verbal Commitments." The very first post in that thread is a list of commitments, which I have updated each time a commitment is made.
You will note there are 21 recruits listed -- the list includes QB Hunter Helms who subsequently de-committed (as it is noted).
The remaining 20 commitments are the 20 who have signed Letters of Intent.

I have not heard of it before this either.
According to the Twitter page of the CGS Small School Showcase:
"The College Gridiron Small School Showcase enables players at the FCS, D2, D3 and NAIA level the chance to perform in front of NFL and CFL Teams."

RB -- Jordan Forrest showed tremendous potential in the limited time he got last year before suffering an injury around mid-season. Forrest, Oliver and Ezema would seem to be a more-than-adequate line-up at RB next year (barring injury). I do not discount the possibility that another RB will be recruited during the next recruiting period (leading up to the February signing period).
OC -- Perhaps it's just me, but there seems to be an impression on this board that the OC does whatever he pleases. In my view, this is incorrect, and the OC closely follows the game plan that the coaching staff, including Coach Chesney, puts together for each game. If Coach Chesney were to be unhappy with the performance of the OC, I suspect a change would be made. If no change is made, it tells me that Coach Chesney is satisfied with the OC's performance (notwithstanding the criticism on this board).
All of this, of course, is simply my opinion -- and is not based on any "inside" or non-public information.

I think I may have posted this last week --
UPDATE: I posted a similar tweet from Kane's Prep School on page 48 of this thread.

With Barron's announced commitment, the current recruiting class stands at 20. (Still waiting for HC to acknowledge the NLI signing by Matthew Kane, DB from Florida.)
Barron's commitment also means that New Jersey takes the lead with 5 commitments (13 reported offers), with Massachusetts in second place with 4 commitments (11 reported offers). Virginia (11 reported offers) and Michigan (6 reported offers) are tied for 3rd place with 2 commitments each.

UNH had two commitments from 300 pound DLs. One (Addison Darcy from Pennsylvania, who also had an offer from Holy Cross) signed his NLI to UNH last week. The other (Cam Bariteau from Massachusetts, who did a post-grad year in New Jersey) got a last-minute offer from Colorado State and has scheduled an official visit there in January; he did not sign an NLI last week. According to 247 Sports, Cooper Smith's only offer is from UNH.
I have not seen anything to indicate whether Holy Cross has interest in Smith.

An interesting side note for those who have questioned recruiting Massachusetts football players.
The last uncommitted Massachusetts recruit who was offered by Holy Cross -- WR Gregory Desrosiers (Belmont Hill School, Belmont, MA) -- has committed to Louisville.

I don't have a problem with the "minimum" academic credentials mentioned in the tweet by Coach Smith. If potential recruits don't meet those criteria, they will not respond. Theoretically, at least, we can expect that at least some responses will be higher than the stated minimum.
I fully appreciate that the recruit class will be improved if we can add at least one TE and one or two DTs. Right now, all of the TEs that received offers from Holy Cross are committed (one to HC, all others to other schools). Holy Cross has made offers to several DLs that are currently uncommitted, but they all seem to be either [1] mulling offers from FBS schools, or [2] more suited to be DEs, not DTs.

Several years ago, I had a conversation with an assistant coach at Holy Cross shortly before he left for another school. I asked him if any players on the Holy Cross roster with substantial playing time would be transferring. His response (paraphrased) was along the lines of "Players who are playing don't transfer; it's the players who are not playing who might transfer."
I suspect this is often (not always, but often) the case -- and it is true of FBS transfers as well. An FBS player who transfers to Holy Cross transfers only because he is not getting playing time at the FBS level and wants to transfer down so he can play. To be sure, my skepticism might be unfair, but I often think that if a player is not good enough to play at the FBS level, it's very possible that he is not good enough to play at the FCS level either. There are examples both ways -- Fordham had a QB who was an FBS transfer and he was quite good; other teams (including Holy Cross) have had FBS transfers and they did not become game-changers at the FCS level.
Recruiting has risks. Some highly-rated high school players may not be able to adapt to the college game; other players who seem to be only mediocre develop and become stars. That's true at all levels. My point is that an FBS player who transfers down to FCS is not guaranteed to become a star. Each has to be evaluated on his individual merits. Getting a lot of FBS transfers does not necessarily mean that the FCS school will field a better team. In some cases it will; in other cases, it will not.
