I think HC (and many others) has a grade inflation problem to be honest. What specific facts do you use to make that assertion about HC, where the average cum is 3.05?

Yes, I feel sorry for those getting full rides to HC. Pretty tough too for the students who have to work and deal with the financial stress put on their families to attend a school like HC.

Since we're adding scout badges to our uniforms, we should wear a patch that shows our current record... or maybe add a patch for each win, akin to stickers/stars on your helmet in football. Maybe we can add a gold star for every book we read just like the BookIt program that Pizza Hut used to run back in the day (man, those personal pan pizzas and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle promotions! Those were the days!)
This way, we can be covered in academic accolades, and starkly show that we've lost focus within the basketball realm on what matters within the basketball realm.

This is so silly. Should we really be commemorating the kid with a 3.0 who's taking art / social science courses, but omitting the kid with a 2.95 taking a far more demanding major and course load? Dumb idea.

Is this part of an NCAA promotion? I know that varsity athletes at Northwestern with a GPA>3.0 are being introduced at halftime of a Northwestern bball game next week.

Great idea, and really dumb title for the topic, and why under basketball?. Relax, it's only for a semester, and gives some incentive each semester.

Have all alums visiting campus where a badge with their GPA on it. Next to the bobble heads at the umass neutral site games, this is pine'S finest hour.

Not really the same, unless they also give us a uniform and create a category. I am not aware of any athlete's GPA being released anywhere without individual permission.

We should have it tattooed to our biceps for all to see. Dumbest idea since the bottle heads.

Dumb, stupid or smart idea, I was told from someone in the know at the game tonight that this was not an NCAA or PL initiative but a Holy Cross initiative.

What about those football helmets with dozens of little round achievement stickers on them (Florida State, Ohio State)?

I hate to go out on a limb, but I don't think they are for academic achievements...... BUT, won't that single out players who don't score as often or make as many tackles. How will they feel? It could divide the team and keep THE Ohio State from ever being successful. BTW, I think they also have stickers for academic success, it's just that they almost never need to use them.

This reminds me of those rear bumper stickers that say Proud Parent of an Honor Student at Smithville Middle School

Exactly. To which the proper (sports-oriented only) response is "My kid beat up your honor student!"

I asked my wife if she noticed anything different about the HC uniforms last night at the game...NOPE, she didn't see the patches until I pointed them out to her. (and she notices things like haircuts, shoes, and socks.. a few players wore some different socks last night, MH, JF were 2, along with at least 1 walkon..) The Alum who sits next to me also didn't notice them, so I I'm more interested in the game than the uni's...

Believe that Zignorski and Perkins also probably had their Scout badges, too, but because they didn't play, nobody noticed. The Patriot League and Holy Cross have other established ways of recognizing the academic achievements of student athletes. This initiative is beyond stupid.

The current trend is for players to leave a warm up shirt on until their first action of a half. Anyone other than the eight who played may or may not have had patches, but we never so their uniform. For those that did play, I didn't even notice the patch, but I wasn't looking for it either

While we're at it, let's make note of all the players from the Willard era who NEVER made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, so that we can put their athletic achievements in "context." Does anybody really want to go there?
