You want to know what's beyond stupid? This thread.
We're talkin' 'bout Patches! I mean, listen, page three and we're talking about patches, not a game, not a game, not a game, we talking about patches. Not a game. Not, not … Not the game that we go out there and die for and cheer every game like it's our last. Not the game, but we're talking about patches, man. I mean, how silly is that?

I'm referring to the fact that we are now on page 3 taking about the damn things. Are they really that contoversial?? It's just not that big a deal.

I'm referring to the fact that we are now on page 3 taking about the damn things. Are they really that contoversial?? It's just not that big a deal. The lack of judgement from the people (a) thinking this a good idea and/or (b) approving this idea is important. These are the people being trusted with turning around this mess of an athletic program.

pine is generally doing a good job and has been a major upgrade over the previous athletic department (to say the least), but i agree that singling out players with 3.0+ gpa's is a bad idea.
if there were some way to honor the fact that our team actually has academic standards (team graduation rate recognition [tops in the dance last year], etc.) unlike almost all of our ooc competition, i would be fine with that. but singling out the gpa seems like a strange/disappointing idea to me.

Last night at the game cfrivals and I were speculating that teams in the power conferences awarded patches in the shape of $$$ that read "One and Done!"

Received this text from a huge Pine supporter during the televised Bucknell game tonight:
Tells me everything I need to know.

Did your buddy also comment on the Fr. K patches? No Crusader would ever have a problem with a patch for Fr. K.

I didn't say he had a problem with it, just did he have any comment?

I didn't say he had a problem with it, just did he have any comment? I think it's out of bounds to solicit, in total respect to Fr. K, any comments about the patch-- assuming that person mentioned it anyway. At best, that person agrees with everyone on this board that it is well deserved and appropriate. At worst, we argue about a beloved figure at the college. A team chaplain, purple-bleeder, and basketball supporter getting a patch upon his passing is not even in the same galaxy as a 3.0 patch (not even graduating with honors) on some players' basketball jerseys.

Agree 100%...Even look dorky. Might they be velcro'd on for easy removal.

Fr. K patch looks very nice. Classy and not clunky.
The academic patch is loud and obnoxious. HC70 is right, the "cap" is dorky.
