Back from the game. Weather was PERFECT!! Pretty breezy on occasion but that kept the otherwise hot day very comfortable. Perhaps 500-600 in attendance if I had to guess. As usual for Holy Cross teams, we made it closer than it needed to be at the end but a nice finish and great result. Will be there tomorrow but may miss the opening pitch as I will be on campus for a meeting in the morning and down to Hanover Insurance Park immediately following the conclusion of the meeting. Some notables at the game including former AD Dick Regan who I did not get to speak to but Coach Carmody was in the house and I chatted with him briefly. His usual informative self (not!). Reading between the lines, though, I think he will be happy to have a team of all his own recruits/players that he probably thinks will match up better with his style of play. He seemed to like the idea of summer school but the incoming players are not eligible for it and he said "those are the guys that would benefit the most" from a summer session. He says he is happy with the incoming players, not that one would expect him to say anything different. As I said, it was a very brief chat as I did not want to take up his time. Let's take the first game tomorrow. GO CROSS GO!

3rd time watching Brendan King pitch this year. I can officially say he's a stud. Great command, great movement, one mistake in the biggest game of his season. To steal a phrase from football, he's a guy who should play on sundays.

Considering going to Game 3 (if necessary). Problem is that we'd need to start driving up during Game 2. Any suggestions for somewhere up there to take the boys if we get there right after HC wins Game 2? Can't leave Central CT until about 2:20 due to youth sports conflicts. I figure Game 2 will end right when we get to the Mass Pike.

Sturbridge Village; If it was still there, the Higgins Armory; but much of the medieval armor collection has been move to Worcester Art Museum; not sure if it is on display

If we can either the first or second game go to the NCAA tournament and like the basketball team of 2 seasons ago, win the PL championship with an under .500 record. Of course, especially for the baseball team, the OOC schedule is front loaded with lots of much tougher teams from the south and west with much larger enrollments and much better weather conditions to play in.
The Crusaders look like they are hitting their stride. Pitching yesterday was very solid but seemed to have a bad habit of getting up on the batters 0 and 2 or 1 and 2 and then running the count to 3 and 2. Lots of foul balls hit by both teams but in the end, we gave up only 2 walks and no Crusaders got a base on balls . . . . but there were a couple of players who got on by taking one for the team.

If King has a shot at an MLB career, I think DiCenzo may not want to risk it, never mind his possible pitching in the NCAA tourney

I believe the coach will use anyone on the bench in any role that would help increase our chances of winning today's game by 1%. If he needs King to face one key batter: bring him in!

I believe both are free and at least parking can be free as worst case you can park on the street or the lots on top of the hill and walk to the field.

I should think the large parking garage out past right field would accommodate all attendees and hopefully is free of charge

Not to do all they can do to maximize attendance for these games would be a real mistake. A few dollars for a ticket or parking would not, IMO, be worth it.

The league is in charge so if there is any ticket cost it is their decision.

HC home run by Critelli makes it 4-2 HC batting in top of 5th
Russo strikes out swinging, catcher drops ball, and then throws over first baseman's head so Russo gets on base with two out
several pitches later Russo gets picked off first and is thrown out in a rundown
