Holy Cross leads 4-2 and is batting in top of the 6th inning
with two outs Rinaldi lays down a beautiful bunt and is safe at first with a single
next man flies out and Bison will be coming to bat

Bison had runners on first and second and sacrificed them to second and third. One man scored on a fielder's choice. Score now 4-3 with HC coming up to bat in the 7th

Unbelievable-- another Holy Cross player gets picked off: absolute insanity. Had runners on first and third with two outs...
Bison now will bat in 7th
Bison did not score in 7th and Crusaders now batting in 8th

FWIW, while live and again on replay, it looked to me with my purple tinted glasses that our runner's hand hit the plate before the catcher put the tag on him. Definitely close but I thought he was safe.

Crusaders score and now have runners at 1st and 3rd with two out leading 5-3 in the 8th
clutch double on a 2 strike count scores two more runs making it 7-3 HC with a man on second

with two out in bottom of 8th Bison get a solo home run and it is now 7-4 with Bison batting
next Bison singles and there's a man on first with two outs
Finan strikes out the next batter and so it is 7-4 HC leading and batting in top of 9th
I would not object to 2 or 3 insurance runs.....

Well, no insurance runs were posted in the top of the 9th, but if we can get three outs before Bucknell gets three runs we will win this game
two out in bottom of 9th and Bucknell pinch hitter gets a double
next player singles and Bucknell's got the tying run at the plate
ABSOUTELY UNBELIEVABLE--THE NEXT Bucknell batter hits a home run to tie the game
I am going to get sick. Up 3 with two out and nobody on: must be a 98% chance of winning.......
Next batter flies out to warning track and Crusaders come up to bat.
I know these things happen, but it's just hard to take.
Let's see what we can do now...

I've seen this picture before. Twice we were one strike away from winning the whole thing including an 0 & 2 count. Squandering a 3 run lead! Ugh!

So are we trying to give them this game!? Batter interferes with catcher so stolen base is nullified and inning over?!

HC with men on first and second and it looks like we'll try the sacrifice bunt with our leading hitter Masel
Masel bunts and runner is forced out at third

bses loaded let's see what O'Neill can do for us
He walks scoring a run
Let's get more
Next batter walks soring another run
Another walk and it's now 10-7.
Let's get more \ another walk and now 11-7 and a Dan Quisenberry submariner is in relief
and now we are bunting
HC finishes the inning and now leads 11-7 wth Bison coming up to bat. I think Capen can get it done.
My strategy would be to get the ball over the plate and not walk anyone....

Okay--two out and a man on second and we still have the four run lead.
CRUSADERS WIN....but I could have done without the extra innings. Still, we kept at it and found a way to win

Is it usual for a player to coach 1st base ? Brendan King was coaching 1st, at least at the end.

OK, so here was my prior reference about having seen this before . . . . 2010, PL championship series at Holy Cross. Went to all 3 games: Playing at home, we eek out the first game, then barely lose the second game to go to the third game and get blown out. Multiple times this series we were within one strike of winning the game only to have Bison improbably come back . . . in both games . . . . only they can't finish. We tried to give this game away but the Bison wouldn't let us. Our coach was too slow with the hook on Finan but their coach was like a scene from "Tin Cup" or "Groundhog Day." Walk after walk after HBP after walk after . . . . to give us a 4 run lead. I know we won both games but why does it feel like we backed into this championship? But, uhhh, I'll take it!

Awesome job by Coach D, the staff and all the players. Very happy for all of them and for HC. It's been a long time coming.
Only bad part was that my son's soccer game in Plainville, CT ended at 2:15. HC was up 4-3 at the time. So I decided to drive to Vernon, CT to grab lunch while listening to the game before deciding whether to continue on to Worcester for Game 3. By the time we got our food at Rein's, HC was up 7-4 so we started heading back toward Hartford. Well, then the 9th inning happened so we turned around again in Hartford. We got as far as Willington, CT and then HC went up 8-7. We stopped off the highway for a few minutes and HC quickly got it to 10-7. We got back on 84 toward Hartford at the pitching change and HC finally won it when we got back to Hartford.

Hassell's quote of the day--on air How do you feel about HC baseball ? "F..n awesome" That was unfortunate, particularly because two of my sons were watching it in the car. He has to be better than that in that spot.
