njj, thanks for the detailed explanation. It is a situation that looks bad at first glance and could kick off some theories about a program in trouble, but your facts make it clear that such may not be the case.

Been a difficult last few days, because you never like to see so many guys leave at the same time. But, honestly, the only one of these transfers that will genuinely be hard to replace next year will be Delante. He did want to play in a different system, but I also think he wanted to play at a higher level, and will. Likely A-10. I think Rhode Island, maybe Mason. As for the others, all I can say is we're bringing in two guys who play Rivera's position, and he got beat out this year by Tolksdorf, so the writing was kind of on the wall there. Alex Paquin will graduate this spring and wanted to go back to Canada, where he'll start next year for McGill, with his remaining year of eligibility. And Matic was out of the rotation. We'll be younger from an experience standpoint, to be sure. That will hurt us, no doubt. But if we get a couple of the guys we're in on, I'm not sure we won't have more actual talent on the roster next season. We have to get them, though. You will be very, very weak competing with a couple other teams for last place. Imho

Who, us? Why pile on when their roster has been gutted? That's not really Nastrodamus-like prognostication.

That's not really Nastrodamus-like prognostication. agreed. a totally pointless and antagonistic post, as per the usual. fortunately, i think njj and our other reputable posters from pl schools know not to take ncaam seriously. au will likely struggle, but they have arguably the best young pg/c core in the league in nelson and gasperini and it will be interesting to see how brennan fills out the roster.

Again - since you never get it the first time anyone says anything:
Fazekas will transferring to school in Indiana close to his home, that is his desire. He has NO interest in transferring 35 miles up 146, so move on.

Almost as a rule, the big guys at this level struggle with footwork and fouls-- the freshman Fs-- but that tends to improve with years under the belt. Would always want my bigs in the high 40s if not 50%s from twos. Free throws seem to be a lost art lately, nobody can shoot 'em

Alston. 21 mpg 7 ppg 2 rpg 6' 5" jr strange time to be transferring He graduates from Lehigh in May, and will have two years of eligibility left due to having missed a year with a torn ACL. Planning to catch on with a graduate program and get a free Masters. Will be able to play right away, assuming LU gives him a release. Don't know if LU doesn't have the program he wants or if he wasn't happy there. This is a significant loss for LU. Alston led their subs in minutes played and had a good chance to start this year in place of Price.

LU losing a guy I never heard of also Assume you mean Loyola not Lehigh. Loyola is losing 7-0 205 lb freshman Dylan Gollihar, an extreme project who sat out the year due to injury. Might have helped them in a few years - maybe.

AU has started quickly replacing the three transfers, getting a 2017 commitment last night from PF/C Jesse Little, from Starkville (MS) HS. Listed three-star by ESPN, number four prospect (out of four) in Mississippi. Reported interest from Mississippi State, Middle Tennessee State and Samford, though no listed offers.

Thanks, NJJ isn't it strange that a 3 star players had no other offers ? Not that strange. ESPN gives out three star rankings very easily. I think they accept the recommendations of a lot of people with vested interests. There are a number of ESPN three star players who end up at low majors.
