ryan beddeo leaving fresno st He played 8 minutes in 3 games as a freshman this past season...... Beddeo was a walk-on no less. Actually committed to Army at one point but then opted to walk on closer to home.

You must have been asleep when the Board was all a-twitter about offering Beddeo.

You must have been asleep when the Board was all a-twitter about offering Beddeo. If the "search" feature on the board is accurate, there were three posts about Ryan Beddeo in 2016. One stated that we had not made a scholarship offer to him. I think you may have set the "a-twitter" bar much too low.......

lafayette's monty boykins to pitt played 1 game last season, his senior year guess he was hurt presume he either got a red shirt year or he is a grad transfer. or both ACC level ?

His numbers on offense are unimpressive--don't know if he's an extraordinary defender-- with a career FT Pctg of .599, .388 on two pointers, and a decent .355 on threes. Ken Pomeroy's ORating had him at (frosh thru senior in order): 76.4, 89.9, 91.3, 30.9 (only one game as hoops noted). If I had to bet I'd guess he's a smart guy who will graduate from Lafayette and then play a year as a practice player/walk on at Pitt while he pursues an advanced degree?

Both grad transfer and injury redshirt. Not ACC level - but Pitt will not be an ACC-level team. Had 5 transfers and also lost 2 incoming recruits. They were desperate to add anyone who can play even a little. Boykins is an OK player but not one of the top 20 in the PL at his best. He is a mediocre shooter.

I am fairly sure he will be a scholarship player. As mentioned above, Pitt has a lot of available scholarships they won't fill this year due to a massive number of transfers and decommitments.

O'Hanlon's system produces a ton of open looks on threes, and they are normally one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the nation. His .355 was one of the worst pcts for Lafayette over his career. Their overall 3-point pcts for his three years were 39.7%, 40.8%, and 36.7%. Take out Boykins and the 3-year average goes up somewhat.

Lafayette's talent level has been largely sub-D1 since their big 4 left. A couple of decent players on their roster but that's about it.

verbal commits has panzini of lafayette to st anselms and holba leaving Lehigh Holba played 19 minutes a game and did not shoot a lot but was .590 on twos and .381 on threes. He had some decent rebounding stats. I can't comment on his defense . He started 16 games but it looks like he lost his starting role to Pat Andree who then was replaced by Brandon Alston who started the last 10 games. Speaking of Lehigh---always good to remember that Tim Kempton never played in an NCAA Tournament game... Panzini played 13 minutes in 10 games--seems likely he was a walk on and he may see St. A's as a way of becoming a starter

Might be time for those enthralled with PL transfers to start a separate "PL transfer" thread since this thread has had nothing to do with the title for 3 pages.

Understand the desire to keep threads on topic of the title of the thread and at the same time, not create new threads every time a similar event - in this case a transfer - is noted.
Since I can not change thread titles, I simply created a new thread and merged the old thread into this one.
In the future, may be wise for all posters to keep this in mind and when starting a thread that may wander and keep the thread title a bit more generic.
Perhaps two threads in this case - 2017 PL Transfers and 2017 Other Transfers could have worked.
Carry on.

From the Lehigh Athletics website--I deleted the detail on the two other new players . Note also that Lehigh signed two additional players before announcing these three.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh head men's basketball coach Brett Reed announced on Friday the addition of three student-athletes to the Mountain Hawks' program. James Karnik, Ed Porter and preferred walk-on Shane Acoveno are set to join Caleb Bennett and Marques Wilson II in the incoming class. Porter is a junior college transfer, who just graduated from Florida Southwestern State College. Strong in the classroom, Porter posted a 3.8 GPA this past year and was a strong student coming out of high school (4.1 GPA). By completing his Associates Degree in one year, he will have three years of eligibility immediately upon entering Lehigh. Porter averaged 10 points and six rebounds per game in conference play this past season. For the season, he averaged 9.8 points and 4.4 rebounds, shooting 57.1 percent from the field. In high school, Porter averaged 20 points and seven rebounds per game at Gainesville Eastside, garnering Gainesville Sun first team All-Area recognition. He was rated as a three-star recruit by ESPN. "Ed helps complement our existing team," said Reed. "He lets the game come to him and makes the small plays that can lead to wins. His overall feel for the game and his college experience should prove valuable. He's already demonstrated a solid level of maturity in his life experiences and will fit in well to our program and university."

It's a bit amusing that Reed must have felt he would get beat up about bringing in a Juco, so he listed the player's GPA at both the Juco and his HS. That is not something Lehigh normally does in its press releases.
