The rumor I've heard is because Vin Baker JR is a freshman at BC and daddy played at Hartford which made this happen.
I think, as HChoops says, that it is just that BC was desperate for games and Hartford will play the next two years at BC. Baker Jr. was a very lightly recruited player who only committed in early May. No reason to give him a home game or do a favor for his Dad before he's ever even suited up - especially given that he might not even be good enough to ever play. According to VC, Baker had only one other offer - Bryant.

HC may have had dozens - maybe hundreds - as good as Baker Jr. He may be a career bench-warmer.

We can then also assume that you won't be taking any young relatives to "The Emoji Movie?"

As a sign of my respect for the English language, I pledge that I will never use an emoji. What about respect for your fellow posters to better understand what they are saying and communicate your own thoughts better? It's a message board were we're trying to have a conversation, not write a novel, short story or even newspaper article where we are trying to develop tone and build nuance in our writing, Do you ignore tone of voice, body posture, facial expression etc. as a sign of your respect for the english language? How many times has a poster responded to one of your posts only to have you follow-up by saying "Don't you understand hyperbole ... or sarcasm ... or figurative language ... or..." On a message board, emojis are an attempt to replace some of those things lost from conversation when you move from an in person conversation to written word only. They are not perfect and don't catch every nuance, but they help. The above example is a perfect reason to use and pay attention to them.
[/p] An ACC team so desperate for games that they decide to go on the road to play a team that they usually pay to come to their house. I guess it's a possibility but there must be some reason BC is coming to Uhart. On the AE boards the same questing is being asked but no response yet from the Hawk fans.

Duke played at Dartmouth around 15 years ago as a favor to a kid Duke had from New Hampshire

Duke played at Dartmouth around 15 years ago as a favor to a kid Duke had from New Hampshire I believe your confusing UVA and UNC with Duke. Virginia played at Dartmouth as one of the Friel boys played for UVA. Of course Gerry Friel was the longtime basketball coach at UNH and the man for whom the court is named for. Dean Smith also brought his Tar Heels to Hanover to play Dartmouth.
I think it's likely that it will turn out to be a two-for-one, with Hartford playing at BC the next two years. In that sort of arrangement, BC doesn't have to pay any money to Hartford, having instead "paid" by giving them a good home game. That arrangement would save BC a lot of money, which isn't a bad thing for a program that doesn't draw well for most home games. BC's likely attendance for a home game with Hartford would be about 2500 - so they really couldn't afford to pay any normal guarantee without taking a loss. BC last year drew about 2100 for home games with Stony Brook and Towson. Can't fund a true buy game with those sort of numbers.

BC will not be good, but unless Hartford is significantly better than last season, BC should win. At least they are counting that game as one of their few sure Ws.

They played two teams at home last year that were significantly better than BC - Vermont and Albany - and couldn't come close to 2000 attendance. BC, of course, is a bigger name, and maybe their fans won't realize how bad they are.

If Boston College plays another series with Holy Cross, the Crusaders should demand any home game be played at the Hart. If the Eagles consented to playing at the Chase Center at Hartford, the Hart Center on campus should suffice rather than making the DCU Center a stipulation.

I would say that, as regards the frequent posters here, we ought to learn enough about them based on their writing, that emojis would not be needed. For example, there is at least one poster here who seems incapable of expressing himself except through sarcasm. He doesn't understand that the less sarcasm is used, the more powerful its effect, and its overuse renders it vacuous and boring. He doesn't need to use a sarcasm emoji. In the case of new or infrequent posters, I suppose emojis help. Though somehow Mark Twain, Mencken, Wodehouse, Hitchens, et al, got along fine without them.

Especially now that we'll have suitable visitor locker rooms. Unless of course we can keep one of the current lousy locker rooms for when BC comes. 😃

His brother Walter had played for the Big Green earlier. I remember a game at Hart later where students were taunting Palmer with chants of "Laettner's better!".
