Let’s be honest We had a team with a fragile collective psyche. Down 6: We go 80 yards at a difficult opponent’s field to score to go 3-1 with the only loss being a close loss to a FBS school.
Of course the celebration had begun
Miss the extra point: lose in OT
SEASON OVER

So glad I didn't go to this debacle. Got a lot of things done at home. It's so bad it's laughable. I feel terrible for these players that are working so hard. They deserve so much more...

Converted two Hail Mary's. Still lost.

Let's be even more honest, we're a middling team (at best) in an awful league. How awful? Monmouth looks like Alabama going 4-0 on the league, and the four games aren't really close. More evidence? The non scholarship Pioneer League looks better in the polls.

Still have a chance to win the league. Let's look at the bright side.

Still have a chance to win the league. Let's look at the bright side. Is that considered a significant accomplishment? (I'm a bit cranky now)

Peter Pujals: 509 passing yards.... TG is definitely good at helping his QBs put up big numbers. Combo of poor defense and no running game over his tenure.

The Patriot League is hot garbage right now in football....no decisions should be based on our performance within league-play imo. It's the same old, same old ovah and ovah (much like my posting about it ).....just a whole new clean slate has to be established if we expect anything more from this program in the new scholarship era. Pine bungled on this one, understandable maybe given our hoop travails but we should be in Year 3 of a new regime right now.

Is it ok to ditch the grey uniforms now?

Yes. And then a win or two and playoffs. Unlikely, yes, but if this team plays like they did against UConn in the first half, they can beat anyone in the region at the FCS level. They have no played that way. Mcbeath is the best player on the team and field at any given time. Him and Brady are the best LB' tandem in the league. As usual, our secondary is suspect. This time due to injuries, instead of talent.
Too inconsistent on offense. i like the way the freshman WR plays. DiNicola absence is hurting consistency.
Honest assessment- Pujols is not NFL caliber. McBeath is too small, if he was fast enough (big question), he could catch on a special teams/SS/nickel LB type.

Given how easily Monmouth has handled other PL opponents, today's result wasn't a surprise. In many ways, this game didn't really matter. It was a non-league game vs. a very good team. To that point, even NEXT week's game vs. Yale doesn't really matter.
But this season is NOT over. The PL is still winnable.
The key is not to get too beaten up physically and psychologically and be ready for the last four PL games of the season - all of which are winnable given how down the league is this year. Laf. will not go unbeaten in league play (I wouldn't be surprised if they finish no better than 3-3), which would allow HC to win the league by running the table.
Likely? No. I was at the Laf game and witnessed that dreadful performance.
But is it possible? Yes. They put a hurting on the No. 9 team. The offense and defense has flashes of brilliance. This is a senior-laden team built to win this year.
A win next week would be nice, for sure. But momentum and confidence are more important heading into the final league stretch. Gear up for those games and try to salvage something out of this season.

Gosh, I'm reading a couple of other posters and I just can't get excited that we still have a shot at winning the anemic Patriot League. The Patriot League? That passes for an accomplishment this year?

At best we'll finish 4-7 or 5-6....and this from a team/season that George Allen would say: "the future is now."
A new staff, younger team etc. will take awhile to climb the mountain but it's so much more preferable to what we're witnessing now.

That passes for an accomplishment this year? Yes. That was the goal this year. That's the goal every year. Doesn't matter if HC is 11-0, 10-1, or 6-5. Success in the playoffs is gravy (at least until the program can win the PL consistently).

it would be "so Holy Cross" to win the PL at 5-6 this year and extend Gimore's contract.

Took my kids to the game today. Best thing I can say is that Fitton Field left us plenty of room to throw the ball around outside. Just disappointing after three solid games to start the season.
