Will the ROW be Petrie or Butler this week? AB had a great last game, but Petrie also had solid scoring with that 3 pointer of his. Will it matter that Lafayette lost their last two games? It will go to Colgate's Jordan Burns.

Two games last week - point-wise, Butler had one big game (28) and one nothing game (0). Others in consideration would include Petrie (51 p), Sam Iorio (43 p, 12 r), and Jordan Burns (40p, 12a).

Don't know how can give ROW to someone who was scoreless in one of two games played while others had two solid games. After seeing Petrie he's much better than I thought, handles ball well can get to the hoop and create distance to get off his low release shot. He will be a force in the league for the next 3 years.@

Another advanced stat of interest is "Usage Rate," which tries to estimate the percentage of plays used by specific players, how involved individual players are in the offense - simplistically, how often does a play end with the player shooting, turning it over, or getting to the line. Tends to be biased towards guards. Top five among the freshmen.
Petrie, 30.6% Burns, 27.6% King, 24.6% BUTLER, 23.7% Iorio, 22.1%

Has the PL ever had a season with so many freshman minutes logged? I would think not. It's interesting to look back at the All-Rookie teams of the past and try to judge the quality of them. From last year back to 2002, they look like this: (ROY in caps.) • Sa’eed Nelson, American (Fr., G), Mark Gasperini, American (Fr., F), Tommy Funk, Army West Point (Fr., G), Tyler Scanlon, Boston University (Fr., F), WILL RAYMAN, Colgate (Fr., F)
• Karl Charles (Holy Cross), Kyle Foreman (Boston U.), DELANTE JONES (American), Kyle Leufroy (Lehigh), Malcolm Regisford (Colgate)
• Nana Foulland (Bucknell); Cam Gregory (Loyola); Cheddi Mosely (Boston University); KAHRON ROSS (Lehigh); Andre Walker (Loyola)
• Cedric Hankerson (Boston University); TIM KEMPTON (Lehigh); Nick Lindner (Lafayette); Tanner Omlid (Army); Austin Price (Lehigh); Anthony Thompson (Holy Cross)
• Tilman Dunbar (Navy); Cullen Hamilton (Holy Cross); Bryce Scott (Lafayette); Kyle Toth (Army); KYLE WILSON (Army)
• JUSTIN BURRELL (Holy Cross); Seth Hinrichs (Lafayette); Maxwell Lenox (Army); Worth Smith (Navy); Dan Trist (Lafayette)
• Cameron Ayers (Bucknell); JJ AVILA (Navy); Dave Dudzinski (Holy Cross); Josh Herbeck (Army); Mackey McKnight (Lehigh); Pat Moore (Colgate); Isaiah Roberts (Navy)
• Bryson Johnson (Bucknell); Gabe Knutson (Lehigh); CJ McCOLLUM (Lehigh); Mike Muscala (Bucknell); Mitch Rolls (Colgate); Joe Willman (Bucknell)
• Bryan Cohen (Bucknell); RJ EVANS (Holy Cross); Yaw Gyawu (Colgate); Julian Simmons (Army); Ryan Willen (Lafayette)
• Andrew Beinert (Holy Cross); Romeo Garcia (Navy); ROB KEEFER (Lehigh); Todd O’Brien (Bucknell); Mike Venezia (Colgate)
• MARQUIS HALL (Lehigh); Trey Stanton (Navy); Eric Meister (Holy Cross); Marcus Nelson (Army); Zahir Carrington; (Lehigh)
• DERRICK MERCER (American); Andrew Brown (Lafayette); Alex Vander Baan (Holy Cross); Kaleo Kina (Navy); Jason Vegotsky (Bucknell)
• PAT DOHERTY (Holy Cross); John Griffin (Bucknell); Corey Johnson (Navy); Kyle Roemer (Colgate); Greg Sprink (Navy)
• ANDRE INGRAM (American); Chris McNaughton (Bucknell); Kendall Chones (Colgate); Keith Simmons (Holy Cross); Jose Olivero (Lehigh)
• Raimondas Petrauskas (American); KEVIN BETTENCOURT (Bucknell); Alvin Reed (Colgate); Mitch Gilfillan (Lehigh); David Hooper (Navy)
Playing time and roles are, of course, huge factors in making one of these teams. Among the players who did not make All-Rookie are Kevin Hamilton,Tim Clifford, Charles Lee, Torey Thomas, Garrison Carr, Jared Mintz, Ella Ellis, Tony Johnson, Chris Hass, and Zach Thomas. Interestingly, Bucknell has never had a scholarship player be ROY.

Another fun fact - the last four Holy Cross players to be named RoY never made an All-PL 1st or 2nd team in their careers. Burrell, Evans, and Doherty noted by 137 above. Who was the fourth?

As much as we love Sam at AU, I'm guessing Petrie gets ROY. AU and Cross are, record-wise, projecting to likely be below last year (dual ugh), while Lafayette is likely to finish at or a little better than last year. Colgate is obviously better this year, and Burns will surely get a lot of votes, but his impact there is somewhat diluted by the production of Rayman, Swopshire and O'Brien. While Klinewski is a strong player, I'd argue Petrie has had the most impact on an improved team of any freshman in the conference. He's a legit player. (And, so is Sam!)

Nicely put argument, NJJ. In the long run, the only ones such honors really matter to are the players themselves and their immediate fans.
