Bucknell, BU, and Colgate looking very good for top three seeds, but 4-10 looks pretty wide open [ BU (#218): Beat #107 Bucknell, and next best win is against #209 Army Colgate (#222): best win vs #204 UMBC These teams are not good. Running the table in the 2nd half should be completely realistic. What a ridiculous statement.

That freshman class may have as many as four 1000+ point scorers. Whoa . . .

That those two teams at the ~37th percentile of D1 aren’t good, or that we can’t run the table against 7 teams ranked above 208 and #107 Bucknell (who has already lost 8 games this year) at home?

Floyd and Butler combined were 19-23 from the field with 45 points scored. That's production!

I explained to my non-alum son, that IMHO, AB is by far the most improved freshmen this year from day one until now (Caleb started out of the gates more quickly) and JF is by far the most improved player on the team.
Team ROY right now: AB Team POY right now: JF

The freshmen played 59% of the minutes (Caleb Green never left the floor) and scored 56% of the points today At one point 4 freshmen were on the court together 4 sophs?

There have been short periods of time in earlier games when we have had 5 freshmen on the court at the same time.

Solid win yesterday! I liked the way they didn’t panic when the Pards went on runs and evened the game up in both halves. Last year they would have folded. AB is a terrific player, hustles, can shoot lights out, plays both sides of the court with a football mentality. JF gets better every game, as does Faw, who also played pretty well in limited minutes. Have to hold serve Monday with Lehigh. They have the second half of the schedule in front of them with three teams in reach. The pieces are starting to come together.

So nice to have the band and students back.....makes a big difference. And it seems like both AB and JF have the potential to really connect with the students - something else to hopefully build on.
Let's hope PB's injury is not serious; would hate to have to throw so much at CG coming down the stretch.
Obviously AB was the player of the game, but MF gets my vote for unsung hero. Loved his first half denial at the rim against the Laffy kid who thought he had a clear path to a dunk. And his second half top of the key 3 came right at the end of some nice ball movement.
Sure, lots of improvement needed, but lets hope this is the start of a stronger second half. Yesterday, in both halves they were on the brink of spitting up the bit, but never panicked. That hopefully will be a big confidence booster.
Big game tomorrow!

The Jehyve technical on the dunk was a joke. And, to make it more maddening, the guy called it well after the play was over. I spoke with Reggie Greenwood regarding JF getting T'd up. He said it was the right call! He said that it is OK to grab the rim but you cannot bring your knees up. He said that JF was warned on the previous dunk (when he brought his knees up) that if it happened again he would get a T. He did say that it is OK to bring your knees up if you are doing so to protect yourself. Guess this is all open to interpretation of the rule. Maybe Dado or someone can give a reference to the rule. Have not seen this called before but will be looking for it in future games!

Well it was thunderous, as they say. I remember thinking that the backboard was bent to a pretty good angle. Jehyve's dunks after that call we're very gentle

And before anyone gets on and says not to get carried away with a win over a bottom feeder: getting carried away would be my suggesting folks start checking out March flights and hotels. That's the Pollyanna version of " we have to blow up the program and start over".

Have not seen this called before but will be looking for it in future games! A quick look at the NCAA Mens Basketball rulebook regarding Technical Fouls states: Section 4. CLASS B TECHNICAL INFRACTIONS
Art. 1. A technical foul shall be assessed to a player or a substitute for the following infractions: a. Purposely obstructing an opponent’s vision by waving or placing hand(s) near his eyes; b. Climbing on or lifting a teammate to secure greater height; c. Knowingly attempting a free throw to which he is not entitled; d. Possessing or using tobacco; e. Grasping either basket in an excessive, emphatic manner during the officials’ jurisdiction when the player is not, in the judgment of an official, trying to prevent an obvious injury to self or others.
Guess this can be interpreted in many different ways by many different officials! !

I think the general spirit of the rule is: "don't make a spectacle of yourself, or show up the opponent". Now I did not think JF did that, but I am biased.

Wasn’t the T because of the raise the roof hand gestures rather than the rim hang? Maybe I’m thinking of another play.
God forbid the PL allow for a little excitement. Truth is they’re not used to D1 dunks. Hope we don’t get Referee Nofun again.

Did you ask Reggie to never let that crew ref another HC game? They were brutal. Aren't all PL Officiating Crews BRUTAL? Yes, but these guys were particularly brutal even by PL standards. The foul differential was 9-1 well into the second half. I could accept that against Kentucky. Not against Lafayette.

Lafayette took 25 free throws to our 11, and our last 5 attempts came when Lafayette was intentionally fouling toward the end of the game.

Kind of a reverse reward for staying out of foul trouble.

One more tidbit on our shooting: going 24 for 29 on two point shots is our best one-game percentage in at least the last 17 years, as far back as KenPom goes

One more tidbit on our shooting: going 24 for 29 on two point shots is our best one-game percentage in at least the last 17 years, as far back as KenPom goes 2PT shooting has been the lone bright spot on offense this season. We are shooting 54.3% 2PT FG, which ranks 39th nationally, and 56.7% 2PT FG, which ranks first in the PL.

I remember turning commenting to my son-in-law with about 5 minutes remaining in the game that Lafayette had only 1 foul called on them! Also, kind of a quirking stat, but we had 71 points on the board and the fouls were HC - 7 and Lafayette - 1 !
Also, I was upset with the late game foul by #21 (Lafayette - Petrie?) Forgot who our player was, but it was a very rough foul! Think his frustrations got the best of him!

IMHO, AB is by far the most improved freshmen this year from day one until now (Caleb started out of the gates more quickly) . . . Caleb has made some mature adjustments in his game during conference play. Not shooting as well, but he's become a better facilitator. During the OOC, he had 29 assists and 21 TOs, a 1.4:1 ratio - last ten games, he's had 33A, just 14TO (2.4:1). Making good decisions (e.g., the feed to Faw for the big three late) and showing plus recognition and skill, firing that one-handed pass to a streaking AB for the last basket of the first half. twitter.com/twitter/statuses/957345921817247744twitter.com/twitter/statuses/957345921817247744
