HC now gets a bit of a rest to get ready for the Leopards (Saturday) and Lehigh (Monday). Massey sees Holy Cross as a 2 point favorite (65-63) with a 55% chance for the win...a virtual toss-up.

The team is gaining confidence and finding its personality...Grandi is becoming the go to guy..

We need to build some momentum by beating Lafayette handily. Of course I'll take any kind of win, but I sure would like to see us go up by a nice margin and win without drama, enabling some of the lesser-used players to get some time on the floor. This could be a confidence builder for the team.

One more thing--let's not have a repeat of last night's turnover festival--per Ken Pomeroy the last time we had a higher "turnover percentage" was Jan 4, 2013 in a Hart Center loss to Yale...... I have to think last night was just an anomaly as we are in the middle of the pack (total D-1 and PL play) for turnover % this season.

We got 86% of the available rebounds at the defensive end last night, albeit against another P.O. team with a distaste for O-boards. Since Colgate, Holy Cross has snared 181 of a possible 236 defensive rebounds, or a shade under 77%, which is very good. Should, and need to, dominate Lafayette on the glass come Saturday.

One game at a time, of course... but taking both legs of this wraparound-weekend homestand would be massive in terms of turning around the season.
For all the pessimism on this forum this season, my barometer for success this year was always going to be how much progress we showed in the second half of the league slate. We're about to start getting some answers.

Well, in the first match-up, Lafayette won by 12 and our defense was inconsistent (to say the least). I hope we see the good things from yesterday carried over to Saturday - and that PB returns at 100%.

I hope we see the god things from yesterday carried over to Saturday - and that PB returns at 100%. HC had its worst shooting game of the season, 35.2% effective fg pctg, driven by an unfathomable 2/24 on threes. That was also the game Alex Petrie went 7 for 8 launching three point shots from his waist. He's gone 6 for 25 on threes since that game although he's been solid on twos. We can't allow him to get off his shot so easily at the Hart Center.

Last night of our 37 FGA (incredibly low, but understandable with all the turnovers) only 13 were from 3 The lowest % of the season ? we also had more FTA, 17, than 3 point attempts, 13. Another first ?

Butler had a bad game in that regard, and Floyd got charged with 4 turnovers...wonder if the entry passes had a lot to do with that number.

Getting to the line has been easier when teams play us largely M2M.

In the Worcester Telegram this morning, the Cousy bobblehead will be given to the first 1500 fans this Saturday. As a long time season ticket holder who can't get there early why can't season ticket holders get one as a gift for being a long time supporter of HC basketball? I am going to lose out because I will be late in getting to the game.

I plan to use none of my timeouts and I have also told my players that anyone who commits a foul and stops the clock will immediately be benched. The other coach rejected my request to play with a running clock. Should get to HC around 2:15.

Post of the young year for getting your priorities straight! Think I already posted that while I will be on campus to lead the Insurance Professionals networking meeting in the morning, I need to leave afterwards for my granddaughter's 6th birthday. Knowing that, I gave my two season tickets to a classmate (not a Crossporter to the best of my knowledge) and lose out at not only watching a game I am expecting a rare win, but the Cousy bobblehead. One kind poster (protecting his anonymity) said he would get me one but was hoping for at least two (first one goes to my son and hoping for one for my granddaughter who is a big Crusader fan) and maybe even one for me. BTW, for any Insurance alums and even those who aren't, consider this an invitation to come to our even at 10:30 am in Hogan 328 and listen to football alum, John Andreoli '82, talk about his transition from All-East football player and captain to successful president of the Sullivan Group insurance agency. Great opportunity not only to meet John but our esteemed poster Crucis! We'd appreciate registering, in advance, but won't turn back any "walk-ins" but would like to make sure we have enough coffee and pastries. Ooh-ooh! Just sank in that '92 will be in Tolland. That's where I am headed for the party. Maybe we'll pass each other on the road. Hope your team wins - don't have your team play the slowdown Princeton Offense!

If the current performances of the public high school teams in 92's town and Tolland are predictive of the talent of the up and coming ball players, 92's squad ought to run away with this one. If they don't, we might have to revoke his right to opine on BC's coaching decisions.

If they don't, we might have to revoke his right to opine on BC's coaching decisions. We are 2-0 against Tolland this year. I know, I know. Tough to beat a team three times in one season but we’re going to give it 110% and see what happens. If we do lose, it will only be because I couldn’t call timeout to bestow my coaching wisdom upon them.
