We don't pay coaches for their personality and entertaining interviews. I don't generally hear CWC's pre or post game interviews but heard enough at Coaches' Nights and a couple or three one-on-ones with him and a lot of what he says are very similar to the kinds of things MB used to say and was crucified on this board. He takes no more personal responsibility for a loss than Milan did. But neither Milan nor Bill are the ones missing the shots or making the bad passes [though I do blame CWC for the lack of rebounding because he basically concedes them].
I don't read his body language as not caring but rather frustration and exasperation. I don't see him getting fired unless we don't win another game all year. I think he's got another year and if the team doesn't do a 180 and win it all next season, I don't think he'll have to be fired, he'll probably quit.

Dick Lutsk notes this is the worst defeat in Hart Center history. Trying to comb through my mental HC basketball knowledge. What losses were worse than or come close to this, home or away? I know in 2005 we got smoked by George Mason like 70-38 on the road -- a very good HC team v. Mason's Final Four squad. Loss to Williams in 2003 -- obviously stung but they were Division III national champs and we were a young team in rebuild mode under RW. I recall hearing about a blowout loss @ Arizona in the late '90's that pushed us to lead the charge to bring scholarships to the PL. 80-something to 30-something? In 2007, we lost our first exhibition game to Division III Rhode Island College. We were defending Patriot League champs and that year 07-08 were probably the best last place team in the history of the Patriot League. I'd rather be forced to watch this loss 20 times in a row than even have to see a clip from tonight ever again.

Carmody is 100% responsible for the defensive schemes, which have been consistently awful.

OK. Does anyone remember any game where we had not one player scoring in double figures?! High scorer, JF with 9!

Stretching it but my freshman year of college certainly looks like the glory years compared to now, in all facets. Coaching. Local support. Student interest. Schedule. Talent. Coaching. We're basically Colgate in basketball now. And I'm halfway to turning into the next indianhoop.

Hopefully we can put this to bed -- I'm going to try and think "glass half full" and remember that just four days ago we scored 73 points on the road against Loyola in a game where we shot just 3 of 13 from behind the arc, winning by 16 points,

Carmody Winning Percentages at HC:
Overall: .438 (includes post-season) League: .388 (regular season only; would be .426 with PL playoffs)
Brown Winning Percentages at HC:
Overall: .454 (includes post-season) League: .513 (regular season only)
Not saying Brown is a better coach but, as the original Bill used to say, you are what your record says you are.

You don't lose 69-34 because of offensive or defensive schemes. You lose because nobody's head was in the game... players or coaches.
Is this rock bottom? I'm not even sure at this point.

On the plus side I like what we got from cls. He’s gonna steal Ziggy minutes.

When you average 18-20 losses a year for three years (which is where this is headed), there's an X and/or O problem. But to your point, body language of the entire staff was terrible tonight - slouched, heads in hands, looking like they wanted to be somewhere - anywhere - else. We know Carmody is dealing with some stuff off the court, certainly have to believe it's a distraction.

If not for FGIM, how much different would the overall perception of HCBC be? Also interesting to note that the Patriot League Quarterfinal games of CMB's last season and CBC's first season were carbon copies of each other, except Champion's shot dropped while Malcolm's rimmed out.

On the plus side I like what we got from cls. He’s gonna steal Ziggy minutes. Don't see that happening yet. Tonight's line came against Navy scrubs in second half. However, we play at West Point next Wednesday which is the site of his best game ever as a Crusader. Could not miss for a ten minute stretch at Christl last year and ended up with 15 points IIRC.

We just played without half of our key players who aren't freshmen. Has to have a major impact on this team, no surprise

Definitely a distracted team tonight. I can give the players a pass for that. Similar circumstance with the Patriots Sunday.
However, this season is turning into a disaster.
But will blowing it up AGAIN, help anything?

Does Chesney know D1 football? We don't know yet.
The entire athletic department is a mess right now....most of it stems from the fact that we continue to have an identity crisis of who or what we are. It's not the PL's fault entirely, but it hasn't helped mattahs.
An assessment by TPTB on where we are headed as an institution athletically is sorely needed imo.

With the loss tonight, we dropped to #326 on KenPom.
We are 4-16 against teams in the top 300.
8-16 overall against the 318th ranked schedule.
