Saying that an A10 school such as St. Bona would come to the Hart b/c they are playing at UVM is comparing apples to bowling balls. HC program is nowhere near where UVM is currently.
Outside of the Buffalo area schools rotating venue H&H series (Canisius/Niagara,Buffalo), the Bonnies have played at Siena, Hofstra, Iona, Ohio U, Binghamton, Delaware, Arkansas State, Cleveland State, Marist, and Eastern Michigan in the last decade. The remote location of Olean (not easy by bus and some 1.5 hours from the Buffalo airport) limits the school's leverage.

Our home OOC schedule and our league home games are bad. If we want to increase our attendance with fans and students we need to upgrade or we will be stuck with poor attendance for the duration. We spent lots of money for the Luth and we can't even increase our home schedule. It's time for the AD to take over the basketball schedule, let the coach do his job in recruiting and coaching.

It would be nice if they were in different seasons, so that there would be a NY area game for HC fans each season. I took advantage of the opportunity last year and made both games. Agree that HC should play in NYC every year, and as I noted above, HC is at Iona on Dec 30th, so you get to see them again this yr Rob Thanks for the reminder.

We spent lots of money for the Luth and we can't even increase our home schedule. It's time for the AD to take over the basketball schedule, let the coach do his job in recruiting and coaching. I would modify that slightly. If we want to increase our attendance, HC needs to win. Losing to visiting teams will draw no one to the Hart, regardless of the league our opponent plays in. If we want fans for HC, they need to come to watch HC play. If it is winning basketball, IMHO, they will be here. I do believe the AD should create the schedule (with input from the coach). It is a headache to put a good schedule together. As to the PL H/A games, they are not set by the individual schools but by the PL. It does seem that only the LH/LU series is pampered by the league, but that is just my opinion as well.

I had an indirect connection with PC while I was working and the head coach did not do the scheduling, it was as I recall the DOBO which I had never heard of that title at the time and thought was an assistant coach.

If we want to increase attendance, schedule games for when students are on campus...I haven't looked closely at this seasons OOC schedule, but in the past few years there were precious few home games when the students were on campus.....

Thought there was a thread started, but could not find it. Anyway, I see from our friend Unhfan (posting on the AE board) that HC will NOT be playing UNH this year (the Cats released their schedule). And, Vermont released their schedule......and HC is playing there 11/28!
This is what I think we've got:
HOME
11/6 (Tues) - Sacred Heart 12/1 (Sat) - Fairleigh Dickinson 12/8 (Sat) -URI (DCU) 12/20 (Thurs) - Canisius
12/22 (Sat) - Siena
AWAY
11/10 (Sat) - Michigan 11/13 (Tues) - Providence 11/20 (Tues) - Albany
11-28 (Wed) - Harvard 12/4 (Tues) - UMass 12/30 (Sun) - Iona
NEUTRAL 11/16 (Fri) - Stony Brook 11/18 (Sun) - Siena/Norfolk State
Some updated dates; this time, used actually released schedules as the source. Couldn't find one for Iona. Would appear there still is 1 game that could be scheduled.
Although locals won't be beating down the doors for tickets, at least the students should be around for the 2 NEC games.
Latest So, this looks to be the final schedule (thanks ACTP)
Yes, the Hart schedule is weak. But, there is a game in the Boston area.....a game at UMass....a game in RI....a game in the NYC area.....a tournament in CT.......a game against a Final Four team. If could be a lot worse. You want more fans? WIN.WIN.WIN.
No matter what, things are different now. Unless you ban cellphones from the arena, people simply will never be as engaged at games as they once were. Look at this crowd for a game AGAINST LEHIGH in 2007 (thanks Torey!)
The kids apparently did not care that it was a PL opponent...........

Thanks Lou
If we are going to continue to recruit the Michigan/Illinois region, I wouldn't mind seeing some home and home series with some MAC schools. May not be sexy, but a step up in competition from the NEC.

Would like to see a better home schedule, obviously, but that’s the nature of today’s environment as a low/mid major. Pretty happy with the overall schedule. I want to see HC play BC, UConn, UMass, PC and URI most every year, and we have three of the five, so that’s an improvement. Going to be an exciting year.. JF will take a backseat to no one, and the frosh are now experienced sophs. A lot of reasons to be optimistic!

Found this on the Michigan site, may make more sense playing Fri/Sat Championship Rounds at Mohegan Sun Arena Friday, Nov. 16 Springfield G1: Stony Brook vs Holy Cross Springfield G2: Norfolk State vs Siena Saturday, Nov. 17 Naismith G1: South Carolina vs Providence Naismith G2: Michigan vs George Washington Springfield G3: Consolation Springfield G4: Championship

Our sched, just out, seems to confirm our Mohegan Sun second game date as either Sat or Sun Sunday if we win on Friday, Saturday at 8:30 if we loose Friday...Saturday's game would be the second game of a doubleheader, with the UConn women playing the first at 6 versus Vanderbilt...

If we're playing Saturday at 8:30, it will be one of the few times an arena empties out after a women's opener, and our faithful move down to those vacated seats to get the usual 'up-close' view of our game.

When was the last time we played Seton Hall? A game against Seton Hall would allow all the North Jersey alums to see a game. Maybe Ralph's son would schedule a 2 for 1. They have been pretty successful in the Big East since all the BCS schools have left. so could attract a good crowd at the DCU. Heck, they are playing UNH and Sacred Heart this year

That matchup would have to be a play for pay game. No way Kevin W would do a 2 for 1

Does Seton Hall ever play on campus any more?

A related question.
Would HC ever turn down a "pay for play" in return for a 2 for 1 deal? A drive to Newark is quicker than going to the PA Patriot League schools - so can't be too expensive. Seton Hall essentially keeps 100% of the gate at the Prudential Center for two games. In return, HC gets a home game against a top tier basketball program. HC can also use the games as a fund raiser for all those well heeled NJ alums

There is no reason Kevin W would give us a 2 for 1

My guess is that in general, HC would prefer the 2 for 1 vs the pay game. That being said, the landscape is changing and the gap between the have's and have not's is growing. If, as stated in the other thread, BC who is local and usually a bottom feeder is no longer interested in 2 for 1, I have to think Seton Hall would be more reluctant. 15 years ago, the A-10's of the world would be a straight home and home, and now they are commanding 2 for 1's. The P5.5 have more clout than the A-10 and will command better terms
