Maybe we could ask Georgetown what its agenda is by keeping the 'gray' in its school colors.  The gray was chosen, by the students, in 1876.

James Ryder Randall, whose tenure as a student at Georgetown was long enough to characterize him as a perpetual student, was named after Rev. James Ryder, President of Holy Cross 1845-1848. Randall was so distressed by the death of a fellow Georgetown student in the Baltimore Riot of April 19 1861 (at the hands of the 6th Massachusetts Militia) that he wrote 'O Maryland, My Maryland', which was immediately set to music and became La Marseillais of the Confederacy.

The music for the HC alma mater was taken from what song?
Aside from Lauriger, O Maryland, O Tannenbaum, there is also the anthem of the British Labour party and Irish socialists, -- the Red Flag, which was written by an Irish political activist in the late 19th Century.

Georgetown's alma mater is set to Men of Harlech. A degree is warded to any student who can correctly sing the first stanza of the original, whether or not he/she completed any coursework.
