They serve beer at the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University games. You can take it to your seat. I have not observed any problems. Was last there for LSU a couple of years ago.

Hcpride - good point regarding the policy regarding re-entry. I would happily trade being unable to re enter an HC athletic facility if it meant being able to support the programs by purchasing a couple of Narragansetts. For the Hart, we'd just have to make sure the "point of no return" is outside the threshold of the bathrooms -- not too complicated.

What is the procedure to allow alcohol to be sold inside a stadium on campus? Some sort of a waiver from the NCAA? Wisstahh?
All sorts of liability issues I'm sure. When would you say that the "post-game cocktail receptions" normally held in the Fieldhouse were eliminated? Early 90s or so? I'm guessing that was ended due to liability issues as well.

The NCAA restriction only applied to NCAA championship events, which has been adjusted the last few years. There's no NCAA restriction that would prevent HC from alcohol sales on campus. Conferences may impose rules but I'm not sure there's one in the PL. The biggest hurdle would likely be whatever hoops need to be cleared according to the state of MA for a license. Not sure what that entails.

apparently it is gone, but I'm almost certain there used to be a rule that there could be no alcohol sold at any on-campus NCAA sporting event - play-offs or regular season. Syracuse was somehow exempt because they said the Carrier Dome wasn't on the campus proper. I've been to Notre Dame football games a couple of times. No beer in that stadium. Then things got kind of relaxed and it could be sold in private suites. For the past few years you have been able to buy a beer in the Bud Ryan room at Hart. Although no one is checking at the door, that was technically only for members of the President's Council or some other select group.
Whether or not the NCAA still has rules in place, you also need a license from the city. Back in the 80's, if you were having kegs in the social room of a dorm, you had to apply for a one day license. I assume that is what they did in the fieldhouse. From a practical standpoint, it's been a while since they needed the fieldhouse. Not many people at the game to start and most of those don't want to trek up the hill. Anyone who did want a post game reception would probably fit in Hogan basement
