I think he is a great addition, even if 90% of what he is on film

Logic would say that his dad being a principal advised his son on the academic superiority of HC over his other reported offers

Welcome aboard!
I think this is a great signing! He is going to bring a game to the Cross that we have not seen in a long time...

Keith Wade indicates in his tweet that he is Drew Lowder’s uncle. He is also the father of Ryan Wade of Ann Arbor Skyline HS, whom we are also recruiting. Would be good to land one more Michigander for 2019–either Wade or Daniel Friday from U-D Jesuit. Friday visited HC in April. Stiff competition for him with Loyola (Chicago), Princeton and Harvard.

Logic would say that his dad being a principal advised his son on the academic superiority of HC over his other reported offers I'm sure it was a factor. My dad was a Boston firefighter who dropped out of high school - and he focused like a laser beam on finding the best possible educational opportunities for his children. Educators have not cornered the market on valuing education.
If/when Lowder talks a little about what went into his decision I wouldn't be surprised to hear him say that Holy Cross stuck with him after he got hurt and continued to tell him how much we wanted him here - unlike, implicitly, other schools that may have lost interest.

Great news to wake up to! Welcome Drew!
I would have to imagine the staff did their due diligence regarding his health. Assuming he is 100%, and assuming he is worthy of getting multiple MAC offers, this sounds like a really nice get for the program.
One thing is interesting to me: Looking at Pridgen and Lowder, they don't really remind me of classic, old style Princeton type of players. Could it be Coach Carm is adjusting his style a bit....or maybe it could be an indication of influence from coaches Kennedy and/or Owens?

And this is a terrific commit [b ONly offer he had due to his injury. I’m sure the Cross looked into this but the injury the kid had scared off other suitors. I hope it works out!

Like Pridgen, Lowder also seems to evince a certain toughness and attitude (in the best sense) that is most welcome - look forward to watching both of them, especially on court with Butler.

Suggest easing up on our UNH pal. He's been classy whenever he posts and his point is well taken. We'd like to think that Holy Cross has done their due diligence on his medical condition but we've seen other gaffes in the past (Eric Green?).

welcome aboard, drew! very impressed by everything i've seen and read about this kid. first three star player we've had in a while and his game seems to have warranted this ranking. to another poster's point, he really does seem to play with toughness and swagger. i really like the direction we're going in that regard.
as for his injury, as far as i can tell, most of this extends from a tweet that he fell on his hip at a tournament, was on the ground for a while, and an ambulance might have been called. it then seems he was back playing again this summer. there is no way it was a hip dislocation with that timeframe. my guess (and it's just a guess) given the timeframe, is that this could have been a bone bruise in his hip area.
hurts like hell, can take weeks to recover, and then you're generally fine if you're a young/healthy person. i suffered a pretty nasty bone bruise in the knee area years ago and it initially felt like i had been shot (or what i imagine that would feel like, at least), was diagnosed with a subperiosteal hematoma, was extremely limited for a week or two and stopped all activity, somewhat slowed a few more weeks after that, and then was absolutely fine within a month or so with no further issues whatsoever. i haven't even thought about that in years (and it's been about 20 years now) until reading about lowder and wondering if that's what happened to him.
p.s. - whether it's trump, elon musk, or basketball recruiting, the power/obsession with twitter posts these days is getting out of hand. people often read way too deeply into them these days.

First - welcome to Holy Cross Drew!
Second - I greatly appreciate unhfan and his contributions here, but I think what people are reacting to is this statement
as if he has a history of getting injured. He had 1 injury and was back playing competitively 2 months later and averaged 6.3 ppg in the July AAU period with a new team.
The injury - whatever it was - may have limited him and scared off other teams. So perhaps what unhfan really meant was if he is or can get close to 100% it is a nice pick-up. Which I think most of us are thinking.
In my view, a near-devastating injury is not devasting. Drew has another year to heal and rehab and trust a discussion of the injury with staff, observation of him in July, and during the official visit satisfied our coaches that he’ll be pretty good come next season.
